Philadelphia Stars at Michigan Panthers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Stars at Michigan Panthers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars (4-5) meet the Michigan Panthers (3-6) Sunday in a key Week 10 USFL North Division game at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars can wrap up the North Division title with a victory over the Panthers.

Philadelphia suffered a 24-10 setback against Michigan back in Week 2 as a 3-point favorite as the Under (46.5) connected. The game was played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, the site of next weekend’s North Division championship playoff game.

The Stars saw a 4-0 against the spread (ATS) run end last week in Canton against the New Jersey Generals in a 37-33 loss. The Stars have dropped back-to-back games after a 3-game win streak.

The Panthers were humbled 19-7 by the Pittsburgh Maulers, who clinched a playoff spot with a victory on Saturday. Michigan has dropped 6 of the past 7 games, while also going 1-6 ATS, after opening 2-0 SU/ATS.

Stars at Panthers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 26, Panthers 22

Moneyline

PHILADELPHIA PK (-110) is worth a look straight up in Week 10, as it has been the most powerful offense in the North Division. It is the highest-scoring team with 200 points. Unfortunately, it’s the defensive troubles which have held it back, allowing 235 points, most in the USFL.

The Stars piled up 333 total yards of offense, but they allowed 365 yards to the Generals, a team out of the playoff hunt. That’s concerning. In fact, New Jersey rolled up 7.0 yards per offensive play, while cashing in for 3 red-zone TDs. And while Philly was impressive on offense, as per usual, it put the ball on the ground 3 times for a minus-3 turnover differential. That can’t happen in a key game with its playoff lives at stake.

Michigan PK (-110) just doesn’t have the offensive horses to hang with the Stars in a track meet, as the Panthers have a USFL-low 148 points. The D has allowed 195 points, which ranks 5th overall in the league.

Against the spread

There is no difference playing the moneyline or the spread at the time of publishing.

Over/Under

OVER 42.5 (-110) is a super low total with the way the Stars have moved the ball up and down the field, and with the way its defense leaks oil.

While, yes, we saw just a total of 34 points in the Week 2 meeting, a lot has changed since then. Philadelphia can score with the best of them, and it cannot stop anyone. Even the Michigan offense should be able to move the ball at will.

Philadelphia Stars vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Stars vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars (4-4) meet the New Jersey Generals (2-6) Sunday in a Week 9 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars suffered a 27-24 setback in Birmingham last week against the Stallions, halting a 3-game straight up (SU) win streak. However, the Stars have posted an impressive 4-0 against the spread (ATS) run, the 2nd-best active streak in the USFL after the Memphis Showboats saw a 6-0 ATS run end Saturday.

The Generals started off at 2-1 SU/ATS this season, but New Jersey is in freefall since Week 4, going 0-5 SU/ATS. The defense was a strength early on, but the Gens have allowed 24 or more points in 3 of the last 5 games.

These teams met in Detroit in Week 5, and the Stars picked up a 24-21 victory, winning outright as a 6.5-point underdog to kick off their current 4-0 ATS run. The Over (43.5) narrowly came through in that game, too, kicking off a 4-1 streak.

Stars vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 27, Generals 19

Moneyline

PHILADELPHIA (-135) is an amazing value at this price point, especially if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points.

The Stars are the best of the lot in the North Division, and Philly disposed of New Jersey (+115) in the first meeting in Detroit by a 24-21 score. That loss really seemed to kick the Gens into a tailspin. New Jersey has lost 5 straight overall, including 2 of 3 games by 6 or more points since Philadelphia took the wind out of its sails.

Against the spread

PHILADELPHIA -2.5 (-105) is a strong value in this rematch. It won by 3 points in the 1st meeting, and Philly has won 2 of the last 3 games by 6 or more points, covering 4 straight outings. The Stars have the longest current cover streak in the USFL, and it isn’t ending in Canton on Sunday night.

Over/Under

OVER 43.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly. This is a big number with the Generals struggling on offense lately.

The Generals have managed just 16.0 PPG in the last 3 outings, which should give Over bettors pause. However, Jersey has also allowed 24 or more points in 3 of the last 5 outings, including 25.0 PPG in the last 2 contests.

The Stars defense has coughed up 29.0 PPG in the last 2 games, so we should see some decent fireworks in the USFL Week 9 finale.

Philadelphia Stars at Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Philadelphia Stars at Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars (4-3) face the Birmingham Stallions (5-2) Saturday in a Week 8 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

It has been a roller coaster ride for the Stars this season, winning an impressive opening game on the road in Memphis, then losing and failing to cover the next 3 outings. However, Philly has righted the ship and has picked up 3 straight wins, including a 37-31 victory in Canton against the Pittsburgh Maulers last weekend.

The Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings for Philadelphia, and its defense has been a reason the team is barely over .500. The Stars have allowed 21 or more points in 6 of the past 7 contests.

The Stallions picked up a 24-20 win against the New Orleans Breakers last weekend in Birmingham and have won and covered the past 2 games since a 27-20 home setback against the Houston Gamblers in Week 5.

The defense has been fantastic for Birmingham lately, allowing just 16.5 points per game (PPG) across the past 2 weeks, and it has helped the Under cash in back-to-back games after 3 consecutive Over outings.

Stars at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 27, Stars 23

Moneyline

Birmingham (-225) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s risky, even at home. The Stallions have won the past 2 outings while scoring 24 or more points in 6 of 7 games overall.

Philadelphia (+180) has been playing well lately, winning and covering in 3 straight neutral-site games. However, playing at Protective Stadium will be too much and will tip the scales in favor of the home side.

PASS.

Against the spread

PHILADELPHIA +6 (-110) is worth a look, as the Stars have the offense to hang with Birmingham. We saw that evidenced by last weekend’s season-high 37 points against Pittsburgh.

The Stallions’ offense has been consistent, going for 24 or more points in 6 of 7 games overall, and there is very little chance Birmingham isn’t able to get it done against a very giving Philly defense. Still, the Stars can keep it within 6.

Over/Under

The OVER 45.5 (-110) is a good play here as both of these defenses have had issues.

The Under has cashed in 2 straight for Birmingham but the Stallions have scored 20 or more points in all 7 games, including 28.8 PPG in 5 outings at Protective Stadium.

The Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings for the Stars, as Philly has scored 23.3 and allowed 25.8 PPG in over that span. Look for a high-scoring affair in Week 8.

Philadelphia Stars vs. Pittsburgh Maulers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Philadelphia Stars vs. Pittsburgh Maulers Week 7 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Saturday night game in Week 7 of the USFL season has the Philadelphia Stars (3-3) taking on the Pittsburgh Maulers (2-4). Kickoff from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, is slated for 9 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Maulers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars evened their record last Sunday with their 2nd straight win, a 16-10 victory as 7.5-point underdogs over the New Orleans Breakers. The victory was also a 2nd consecutive game in which the Stars won outright as an underdog. The Stars are 3-3 against the spread (ATS) for the season.

The Maulers were shut out 22-0 last week by the Memphis Showboats. They were 2.5-point favorites and are 3-3 ATS overall. The loss was quite a turnaround from the previous week’s 23-7 victory as 2.5-point underdogs vs. Michigan.

Stars vs. Maulers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 20, Maulers 16

Moneyline

The Maulers upset the Stars 21-13 in Week 3, winning outright as 6.5-point underdogs.

However, the rest of the season hasn’t gone so well for Pittsburgh. With just 82 total points, the Maulers rank last in scoring — averaging 13.7 points per game (PPG). Along with being shut out last week, they were held to just 3 points in a 17-point loss to the New Jersey Generals in Week 2.

The Stars lead the North Division — by 1 game — but have allowed the most points in the league (140 total for 23.3 PPG).

The Maulers, despite their offensive struggles, have allowed the 2nd-fewest points in the league (108 for 18.0 PPG).

The Maulers’ season high in a game is 23 points. The Stars’ is 27.

Expect a close one, but I give the Stars the edge. BET STARS (-110).

Against the spread

With only a 1.5-point spread, you get slightly better odds on the moneyline (-110) than betting the Stars to cover at +1.5 (-115).

PASS.

Over/Under

Only 1 of the Maulers’ 6 games has reached 40 total points.

The 1st matchup between the 2 teams in Week 3 had 34 total points.

Three of the Stars’ games this season have cracked 40 points.

BET UNDER 39.5 (-110).

New Orleans Breakers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (4-1) face the Philadelphia Stars (2-3) Sunday for a Week 6 USFL game at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Stars odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers suffered their first setback of the season last week on a neutral field in Birmingham, losing to 17-10 as a 7-point favorite against the Memphis Showboats. The 10 points was easily the lowest of the season.

New Orleans has had a bit of a power outage on offense lately, posting just 30 total points in the last 2 games after averaging 35.0 PPG in the first 3 contests. The defense has actually been strong, yielding just 17.0 PPG in the 2 losses, after allowing 25.7 PPG in the 1st 3 outings.

The Stars stunned the New Jersey Generals by a 24-21 count last weekend, winning outright as a 6.5-point underdog as the Over (43.5) cashed. It was Philly’s 1st cover since Week 1. The Over is 3-2 overall, including each of the last 2 weekends.

The 24 points produced by the Stars was also the most since Week 1, when Philadelphia produced 27 points in Memphis. The defense has yielded 21 or more points in all 5 games this season.

Breakers vs. Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 25, Stars 16

Moneyline

New Orleans (-300) cannot be trusted after losing outright last week as a 7-point favorite. Plus, risking 3 times your potential return is just a foolish standalone wager, and it isn’t a good long-term betting strategy playing such heavy favorites. In fact, even as part of a multi-team parlay, including New Orleans isn’t a good idea.

PASS.

Against the spread

NEW ORLEANS -7.5 (-115) has been leaking oil lately on offense, managing just 30 total points in the last 2 weekends. However, facing a Philadelphia +7.5 (-105) defense, which has yielded at least 21 points in all 5 games should be the elixir to cure its ills.

While the Breakers failed to cover last week, they’re still 4-1 ATS overall, while the Stars are just 1-3 ATS in the last 4 outings. Back NOLA, but do so lightly.

Over/Under

UNDER 47.5 (-105) is a solid play in this neutral-site affair.

The Under has cashed in each of the last 2 outings for New Orleans. While I expect the offense to be better for the Breakers, as the Stars just cannot stop anybody, I am still very impressed by the New Orleans defense. It has been consistent, and I see Philadelphia struggling to put up points.

New Jersey Generals vs. Philadelphia Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Jersey Generals vs. Philadelphia Stars Week 5 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Stars, who opened the season with a 27-23 win, have dropped their last 3 games. Last week, they were blown out 41-16 by the Houston Gamblers despite entering the game as 2.5-point favorites.

Gamblers vs. Starspicks and predictions

Prediction

Gamblers 31, Stars 20

Moneyline

The Stars opened the season with a 27-23 win, but have only scored 23 points combined in the 2 games that followed. Houston has scored at least 30 in consecutive weeks and appears to be improving.

With the upward trend of the Gamblers and downward trend of the Stars, BET GAMBLERS (+120) for the outright win.

Against the spread

The Stars have not covered the spread in the last 2 games in either loss. The Gamblers have not covered the spread this season. However, with their offense scoring 30 and 31 the last 2 weeks and with the Stars scoring a combined 23, this is the week they break through.

But because we like the Gamblers on the moneyline with positive odds, that is the better bet than the spread.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Stars’ last 2 games have each had a total of 34 while the Gamblers’ last 2 games had totals of 69 and 56.

Houston is not struggling to score. They have also allowed 64 points over the last 2 weeks.

BET OVER 46.5 (-110).

Michigan Panthers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Michigan Panthers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan Panthers (1-0) and the Philadelphia Stars (1-0) meet Sunday for a Week 2 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Stars odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers picked up a dominating 29-13 victory over the Houston Gamblers in Memphis as a 1-point underdog as the Over (38.5) connected. Michigan was dominant, posting 327 total yards of offense to just 194 total yards for the Gamblers. Michigan was plus-3 in turnover differential, too.

The Stars went down to Memphis and took care of the Showboats by a 27-23 count, cashing as 2.5-point road favorites as the Over (38.5) cashed rather comfortably. It was a pretty even game in Memphis, with the Boats posting 295 total yards to 281 for the Stars. The difference was Philly had a plus-1 turnover margin.

Panthers vs. Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 25, Panthers 22

Moneyline

The STARS (-155) are a solid play if you don’t want to bother with laying the points. This should be an entertaining game, as we have a pair of exciting QBs with Case Cookus (Stars) and Josh Love (Panthers) looking to put on a show.

Look for plenty of fireworks in Canton in this final game of the USFL Week 2 schedule.

Against the spread

I am looking for the Stars (-3) to actually push. This has the potential to be a high-scoring affair at a neutral site.

Philadelphia was impressive Week 1, going 4-for-4 in the red zone with TDs, while holding the Showboats to just 1 TD in 2 trips inside the 20.

PASS, and look to the moneyline instead.

Over/Under

OVER 46.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly with a half-unit play at best.

Both teams cashed the Over last week, with Philadelphia combining with Memphis for 50 points on a total of just 38.5, and Michigan combining with Houston for 42 total points with a line of just 38.5. The books have adjusted, but with Cookus and Love, we could see quite a bit of aerial action. We saw 69 total points in the Houston-New Orleans game on Saturday, so don’t expect that. But a total in the high 40’s, or low 50’s is certainly likely.

Philadelphia Stars at Memphis Showboats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Philadelphia Stars at Memphis Showboats odds and lines, with USFL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars and the Memphis Showboats meet Saturday in the Week 1 opener at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Showboats odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars will look to lean upon RB Matt Colburn II, who posted 140 rushing yards and 3 TDs in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Bandits, which is what the Showboats were previously known as. QB Case Cookus is back to lead the Philadelphia offense.

The Showboats will play their 1st game in Memphis after playing all 10 games in Birmingham last season. Head coach Todd Haley hopes his team is a little better taking care of the football, as the Bandits had a minus-10 turnover differential, which was worst in the USFL. The team, now the Showboats, also led the USFL with 73 penalties in 2022.

Stars at Showboats picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 24, Showboats 20

Moneyline

The STARS (-145) are the play, as Philadelphia has one of the best signal callers in the USFL in Cookus, while also boasting one of the better tailbacks in Colburn.

The Showboats (+120) were mistaken-prone and rather undisciplined last season, when known as the Bandits, and it remains to be seen if the team has made inroads on shoring up the defense.

Against the spread

The STARS -2.5 (-110) are worth playing lightly on the road, as they look to spoil the return of pro football to Memphis.

Colburn was 2nd in the league in touchdowns, and 5th in yardage, and he also has nice hands out of the backfield. Former NFL first-round pick, WR Corey Coleman, joins the Stars, and he could have a big debut if Suell is unable to go.

The Showboats +2.5 (-110) have some solid tools, especially in the receiving game, to keep this one close. Frankin III and WRs Rashard Davis and Derrick Dillon have the tools to make big plays.

Over/Under

OVER 38.5 (-110) is the best play on the board. Philadelphia’s offense is full of “Stars”, and Memphis has the receivers to be able to put up plenty of points, too.

Like we saw in the XFL, the books made the totals super low in the early weeks of the season, and the Over cashed frequently. Look for the same to occur in the opening weekend of the 2nd USFL season.

2022 USFL Championship: Philadelphia Stars vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Stars vs, Birmingham Stallions USFL championship odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars and the Birmingham Stallions will battle Sunday in the USFL Championship Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Stars vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars were 6-4 in the regular season and finished in 2nd place in the North Division. They upset the division-winning New Jersey Generals 19-14 in a semifinal June 25. The Generals had won 9 in a row before the stunning loss.

The Stallions lost only once all season and not until they had the South Division title wrapped up. They defeated the New Orleans Breakers 31-17 last Saturday to earn a trip to the Championship Game.

Stars vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 31, Stars 20

Money line

Normally, a -190 line would be a pass for me. However, this is the Super Bowl of the USFL. The Stallions have dominated the league all season. They scored the 2nd-most points in the league and allowed the 2nd fewest.

They beat the Stars in their regular-season matchup 30-17 in Week 5.

The Stars won 4 games in a row after that loss to clinch a playoff berth and were scrappy enough to beat the Generals last week after losing twice to them in the regular season.

If you simply like to bet the money line, go for it. Take the STALLIONS (-190). But that is not the best bet. There is more value betting the spread.

Against the spread

Three of the Stars’ 4 losses this season came by more than 4 points, including their 13-point loss to the Stallions.

Seven of the Stallions’ 10 wins, including last week’s semifinal, have been by at least 5 points.

They held their opponents to fewer than 20 points in 8 of their 11 games this season, including the postseason. They beat the Stars by 13 and won last week by 14. They will roll in the title game.

Take the STALLIONS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Their Week 5 matchup hit 47 points.

The Stallions only had 5 of their 11 total games with totals of 46 or more this season, but the Stars were the league’s top-scoring team. They had 7 games with more than 45 points.

Take OVER 45.5 (-105).
