Clemson played host to some of the best prospects in the country during the team’s 30-20 win over Florida State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Among those in attendance were two five-stars in the state of Alabama —Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) 2023 defensive lineman Peter Woods and Glenwood School (Phenix City, Ala.) 2023 cornerback A.J. Harris — both making their return visits to The Valley.

Woods was in attendance for Clemson’s 19-13 win over Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 2 and returned to Death Valley nearly four weeks later. As for Harris, he made multiple unofficial visits to Clemson this summer and was able to take in his first gameday experience at Memorial Stadium this past Saturday.

The two elite prospects reacted to their visits on social media.

Clemson will again play host to some top prospects for Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. game against Boston College in Death Valley.

Here are some of the bigger names The Clemson Insider has confirmed as planned visitors for the Clemson-BC game:

A couple of headliners among the recruits expected to be in attendance are Thomspon (Alabaster, Ala.) five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods, Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.) four-star defensive back Caleb Downs and Auburn (Ala.) High School four-star center Bradyn Joiner.

Woods is the No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 17 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, which also tabs Downs as the No. 2 safety. Rivals ranks Joiner as the No. 1 center in the Class of 2023.

“They care for each player like they’re family,” Downs said of Clemson to TCI last month. “Everything you do, they want you to excel. They want to be there to help you with your ups and downs. It’s just a family there.”

A big-time receiver from North Carolina is slated to be on hand for Saturday’s game as well in Hickory Ridge (Harrisburg, N.C.) four-star Christian Hamilton, the No. 15 wideout and No. 93 overall prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham recently came up to Harrisburg to watch Hamilton play, now the highly-touted wide receiver prospect is returning the favor this weekend.

“What I’ve been hearing from Coach Grisham is that he thinks I’m an amazing player,” Hamilton told TCI. “He says just be patient with him because he doesn’t just throw out offers. He says (Clemson is) really, really close to offering me and also he wants me to keep in touch with him weekly.”

Among other notable Class of 2023 recruits on Clemson’s anticipated guestlist for Saturday’s contest are two Life Christain Academy (Colonial Heights, Va.) products in three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller and four-star cornerback Antonio Cotman, Jr.

Miller picked up a Clemson offer back on Sept. 2 and is looking forward to getting back down to Tiger Town for Saturday’s marquee ACC matchup.

“I got a little bit of experience when I was there (in Charlotte), but it not really being a home game, I wasn’t able to get the full experience,” Miller told TCI earlier this month. “So, I’m excited to get down there to Clemson and actually see what an actual game day is like at their home stadium.”

As for Miller’s teammate and good friend, Cotman, he’s been feeling the love from Clemson cornerbacks coach Mike Reed and is looking forward to seeing how the vibe is in Death Valley at Memorial Stadium, he said.

Some other marquee names that will be in attendance from the 2023 class include Sumter (S.C.) 2023 four-star defensive lineman Monteque Rhames, Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) 2023 running back Jarvis Green and Pendleton (S.C.) 2023 offensive tackle, Aidan Leigh, who is the younger brother of Clemson true freshman offensive lineman Tristan Leigh.

Another name from the 2023 class that recently informed TCI of his incoming arrival is Katy (Tex.) running back Seth Davis, who was invited to the Clemson-BC game by Tigers’ running backs coach C.J. Spiller.

Last but certainly not least is Greenville (S.C.) 2022 tight end Josh Sapp, who is the son of former Clemson and NFL linebacker Patrick Sapp. TCI caught up with the Clemson target earlier this month on stop No. 1 during this season’s edition of The Tour of Champions.

He continues to build a relationship with Clemson offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Tony Elliott.

“Really just keeping in touch and checking up on each other,” Sapp said. “He and my dad have known each other for a while, so I kind of grew up knowing. It’s really just a cool relationship with him.”

A five-star defensive lineman in the 2023 class will return to Tiger Town this weekend.

Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson five-star defensive tackle Peter Woods confirmed to The Clemson Insider that he plans to visit Clemson and attend the Tigers’ game against Boston College at Death Valley on Saturday.

Woods (6-3, 260) is ranked as the No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 17 overall prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Clemson extended an offer to Woods on June 1, and he made a visit to campus one day later on June 2.

Woods explained to The Clemson Insider before that visit what appeals to him the most about Dabo Swinney’s program.

“As far as their success, their resume speaks for itself,” he said. “It’s as winning as it gets. With that being said, they develop players very well. Three-, four-, five-star recruits turn into NFL Draft picks, first-rounders. So, I know that their coaching lifestyle really rubs off on their players.”

MSU Football offers 2023 DE Peter Woods, currently projected to go to Alabama

Michigan State has offered a 2023 defensive end who is currently projected to go to Alabama.

[jwplayer gcEn4Lgq]

If Mel Tucker has shown us anything during his brief tenure at Michigan State, it’s that he has the confidence to go after some of the biggest recruits in the country, even if it means going head-to-head on the trail with his old mentor Nick Saban. On Monday, 2023 defensive end Peter Woods announced that he has received an offer from the Spartans. Woods is currently projected by 247Sports to end up with Saban at Alabama.

This would make sense as Woods resides in Alabaster, Alabama where he currently plays football for Thompson High School.

Despite being a 2023 recruit, Woods already has offers out from some of the biggest schools in the country aside from Alabama including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Notre Dame, LSU, and Penn State.

Notre Dame Football offers Alabama Rising Sophomore

Notre Dame joins a plethora of schools to have offered the talented freshman from Alabama.

There have been plenty of stories regarding early offers out to players, a few have been offered full rides before they ever play a snap of high school football. That wasn’t exactly the case with the newest offer by Brian Kelly and his staff but it’s damn close.

Alabama defensive end Peter Woods was offered a scholarship this morning and the Irish are seemingly late to Woods recruitment. The massive freshman, yes technically he’s still a freshman, stands 6’4” and weights 250-pounds already holds offers from 18 other schools. It’s not as if they’re small schools offering Woods, its Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia and others that the Irish have joined in offering the impressive young player.

It seems as if Woods could play either end or tackle on the defensive line as his highlights show he’s making plays all over the field. Playing varsity for a freshman is impressive, but what makes Woods more so is the numbers he put up: sacking the quarterback 7 times, forcing and recover a fumble and accounting for 54 tackles. A senior would be happy with those numbers!

Woods recruitment has just started but it has started with bang. The class of 2023 prospect will be a wanted man and now the Irish have joined in the attempt to lure this exceptional player to South Bend.
