Where does LSU baseball rank in the national polls after Week 3?

The Tigers finished the weekend 3-0 and were crowned champions of the Astros Foundation Classic.

We are three weeks into the college baseball season and the LSU Tigers are coming off of a great weekend in Houston.

The Tigers went to Minute Maid Park to play in the Astros Foundation Classic. The Tigers took on No. 14 Texas, Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas State. Thanks to some great pitching and timely hitting, the Tigers finished the weekend 3-0 and were crowned champions of the Classic.

So where does that put them in the rankings? LSU was floating around the No. 2 mark last week and it seems not much has changed this week. The only difference is that Arkansas has jumped LSU in a few polls. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

So where does that put LSU in the polls? The defending national champions started as high as No. 2 in some rankings and as low as No. 4 in some rankings. The three teams that were ahead of the Tigers in the polls were Wake Forest, Florida and Arkansas.

Since then, Florida and Arkansas dropped a game over the weekend and Wake Forest just lost to UNC-Greensboro.

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, LSU remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.

Although the Tigers are 0-2 in their last two midweek games, they are 8-1 in their last three SEC series and a blown lead away from being 9-0. LSU swept Alabama last weekend in a weekend full of offensive firepower.

South Carolina has slid down the polls a little bit after taking one on the chin at home against the Auburn Tigers last weekend. The Gamecocks came into the series with the best home record in the country but that didn’t matter to Auburn, who took two out of three games against them.

Wake Forest, who has been floating between No. 2 and No. 3 this season, has now jumped up to No. 2 after the Florida Gators were swept by the South Carolina Gamecocks last weekend.

One of the most intriguing matchups of the weekend was South Carolina at Vanderbilt, and that series lived up to all the hype. The two teams showed why they are both top ten teams and why they are both flirting with the top five. Vanderbilt eventually took the series in Game 3.

The LSU Tigers took a trip to Columbia, South Carolina, for a top-10 matchup last weekend and, thanks to mother nature, they could only play two games. The Tigers and Gamecocks split the series, but LSU still remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the national rankings.

Vanderbilt finally lost a conference game as it dropped Game 2 against Missouri. The Commodores eventually took the series, though, so their conference win streak still stands. Florida had a good weekend as it took down Tennessee in two out of three games with the last one going into extra innings.

My biggest surprise of the weekend was Kentucky losing its series against Georgia. I guess that goes to show how deep the SEC is, though.

For the fifth week in a row, LSU is No. 1 in every poll.

The SEC now makes up seven of the top 10 teams in the country. The Kentucky Wildcats made the most significant move as they moved up seven spots in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

I have been impressed so far with Kentucky, but Vanderbilt is arguably the hottest team in the country. The Commodores have started 9-0 in conference play, and none of their contests have been close.

UCLA was the biggest faller on the list as it dropped 10 spots after losing five games in a row.

If you are looking for a great game to watch on Tuesday night, No. 6 South Carolina and No. 15 North Carolina are playing in Charlotte.

Blowing out a team that was ranked in the top five like that is why LSU remains the No. 1 team. Wake Forest and Florida are interchangeable for No. 2. Personally, I would give the second spot to Florida, just because of Jac Caglianone. He is a monster.

The No. 1 LSU Tigers dropped Game 3 to Texas A&M but still remain ranked as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons made a big move up to No. 2 this week, overtaking Tennessee after the Vols got swept by Missouri.

This weekend will be full of great matchups as No. 1 LSU takes on No. 4 Arkansas in Baton Rouge and No. 3 Florida travels to Oxford, Mississippi, to take on No. 13 Ole Miss.

The SEC has cemented even further that it is the best conference in college baseball. The SEC makes up six of the top 10 teams in the country according to multiple polls.

The best news is that most of the cupcake games and cupcake series are over. Conference play begins this weekend, so we will soon see who is fake and who isn’t.

LSU starts off conference play this weekend on the road against Texas A&M, who is ranked as high as the No. 11 team in the country.
