First look: Minnesota at Penn State odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Minnesota at Penn State college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-2, 1-2 Big Ten) visit the No. 16 Penn State Nittany Lions (5-1, 2-1) Saturday in this year’s edition of the popular White Out game. Kickoff from Beaver Stadium is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we look at Minnesota vs. Penn State odds from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our college football picks and predictions.

The Golden Gophers come into this tough matchup looking to end their 2-game losing streak. After winning 4 straight games and achieving a top 25 matchup, their season has quickly flipped as they are now 4-2 and unranked. Both of their losses have come vs. Big Ten opponents – first vs. Purdue Oct. 1 (20-10), then vs. Illinois last weekend (26-14). This will be their 4th-straight game vs. a Big Ten opponent. They are led by QB Tanner Morgan, who has completed 67% of his passes (83 of 124 attempts) for 1,164 yards with 7 TDs and 5 interceptions.

The Nittany Lions are looking to bounce back after suffering a big loss vs. No. 4 Michigan last week, ending their previously undefeated season. This will be their third straight game vs. a Big Ten opponent. They are led by QB Sean Clifford, who is completing 59% of his passes (92 of 156 attempts) for 1,150 yards with 9 TDs and 2 interceptions.

First look: Penn State at Michigan odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Penn State at Michigan college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The 10th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) visit the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines (6-0, 3-0) Saturday in a big-time conference matchup. Kickoff from Michigan Stadium is slated for noon ET (FOX). Below, we look at Michigan vs. Penn State odds from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our college football picks and predictions.

Penn State is coming off a bye week. While starting the season 5-0, the Nittany Lions have yet to face any true competition except in their opening 35-31 win at Purdue. Two weeks later in what was expected to be a tough game, they walked into Auburn and blew out the Tigers 41-12. Now, Penn State is looking to get a big win vs. a highly ranked conference rival Saturday.

Michigan is coming off 3 consecutive wins vs. unranked Big 10 opponents, most recently a 31-10 victory at Indiana. Neither of the last 3 wins were by as big of a margin as Michigan fans would have liked, and that might raise some concern coming into this game. Michigan, which didn’t cover as a 23.5-point favorite vs. Indiana, is 1-2 against the spread (ATS) in those 3 games.

First look: Penn State at Auburn odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Penn State Nittany Lions at Auburn Tigers football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0) and Auburn Tigers (2-0) meet Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS) at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Below, we look at Penn State vs. Auburn from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our college football picks and predictions.

Penn State squeaked by Purdue in a Thursday Week 1 road opener. The Nittany Lions then drubbed Ohio 46-10 on Saturday. A PSU defense that has held opponents under 5.0 yards per play 4 of the last 5 years has allowed just 4.69 YPP through 2 games (45th FBS).

Auburn has also been solid on defense. Albeit against an easy slate so far, the Tigers have yielded just 4.41 YPP (34th). Auburn did have trouble, however, in its 24-16 Saturday win over a San Jose State squad that edged FCS Portland State in Week 1. The Tigers committed 9 penalties and were a minus-2 in turnovers while cranking out just 378 total yards.

Penn State at Purdue odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Penn State at Purdue odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

The Penn State Nittany Lions and Purdue Boilermakers open the 2022 season with a Thursday night Big Ten battle in West Lafayette, Ind. Kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium is slated for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Penn State vs. Purdue odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Last season, Penn State was 5-0 through Oct. 2, but then fell apart the rest of the way to finish with a 7-6 mark. The Nittany Lions had a little bit of Nebraska-itis over the course of its disappointing season, going 0-4 in games decided by 1 score.

Purdue — which has lost 9 in a row to Penn State — went 9-4 last season. Bolstered by a strong aerial attack, the Boilermakers led the Big Ten West in points per game at 29.1. Purdue averaged 355.4 passing yards per contest. It went 2-2 against ranked foes, beating Iowa and Michigan State.

Penn State at Purdue picks and predictions

Prediction

Penn State 24, Purdue 21

Money line

A lot of juice to overcome here. Too much, so PASS.

Against the spread

The Thursday night under the lights mixes with some program mojo and makes Purdue a worthwhile consideration here.

For for the host Boilermakers to hang around in a 1-score game. The lean is a small one. Consider a partial-unit play on PURDUE +3.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Under went 2-5 in Purdue’s last 7 games in 2021. But it was 6-0 through Oct. 16.

Penn State played in 3 straight Unders to open the 2021 season. Overall, the Under went 10-3 in Lions games.

And that’s the lean in Thursday’s lid-lifter, with the offense being a half-step behind the defense. BACK THE UNDER 53.5 (-108).

First look: Penn State at Michigan State odds and lines

Previewing the Penn State at Michigan State Week 13 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Penn State Nittany Lions (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) and No. 13 Michigan State Spartans (9-2, 6-2) battle Saturday in East Lansing, Mich. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Penn State vs. Michigan State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Penn State has fallen flat since starting the season with five straight wins, a surge that got them to the No. 8 slot in the AFCA Coaches Poll by mid-October. Since then, including a win over Rutgers Saturday, the Nittany Lions are 2-4.

The silver lining in those dark clouds? PSU’s four losses came by a combined 18 points. The Lions do have a solid passing game (270.9 yards per game) and a very good all-around defense (fourth in points, 26th in yardage).

Michigan State got drilled at Ohio State Saturday. The Spartans coughed up 655 total yards and 36 first downs in a 56-7 loss to the No. 3 Buckeyes. Heisman Trophy contender Kenneth Walker III was held to 25 yards on six carries in what marked MSU’s second loss in three weeks (Nov. 6 at Purdue). No FBS allows more passing yards than Michigan State’s 340.3 per game.

First look: Rutgers at Penn State odds and lines

Previewing the Rutgers at Penn State Week 12 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-5, 2-5 Big Ten) and Penn State Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-4) tangle at noon ET Saturday at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. Below, we look at the Rutgers vs. Penn State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Rutgers is on the road for the fourth time in its last five games, having played just one home game since Oct. 9. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a successful trip to Bloomington, Ind., where they downed the Indiana Hoosiers 38-3 Saturday. The Knights’ 38 points were a revelation: Rutgers had averaged 11.5 points per game over its previous six.

The Nittany Lions lost 21-17 to Michigan Saturday. Penn State has dropped four of its last five since starting the season 5-0. The Lions were held to 332 yards of total offense against the Wolverines and have averaged just 339.2 yards per game over their last five.

First look: Michigan at Penn State odds and lines

Previewing the Michigan Wolverines at Penn State Nittany Lions Week 11 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The No. 8 Michigan Wolverines (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) and No. 23 Penn State Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-3) meet Saturday at noon ET at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa. Below, we look at the Michigan vs. Penn State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Michigan is coming off a 29-7 victory over Indiana Saturday. The Wolverines have now held opponents under 20 points in seven games this fall. They’ve allowed just 16.0 points per game overall, which ranks sixth in the nation. One important issue for UM in this game at Penn State is the status of RB Blake Corum, a talented sophomore who has 778 rushing yards and 20 receptions this season.

Penn State snapped a three-game skid with a 31-14 win at Maryland Saturday. But things weren’t easy for the Nittany Lions. PSU and Maryland were tied 14-all at the 14-minute mark of the fourth quarter. The Lions defense was stingy down the stretch, and that’s nothing new. Penn State has held foes to 16.7 PPG this season (10th FBS).
