We told you last week that Ohio State’s Big Ten opener against Michigan State would be a 7 p.m. ET start on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock. According to Jerry Emig, Ohio State’s Associate Athletic Director for Communications, you’ll have a little more time to finish up the yard work before kickoff as the game will now be a 7:30 p.m, ET start.
Many fans still won’t be happy as the game remains scheduled to air on a service that is part of a paid subscription. Like it or not, Peacock will be the only way to see the Buckeyes take on the Spartans.
Michigan State is currently 3-1 after a back-and-forth affair with Boston College this past weekend. Ohio State remains unbeaten and looking to start conference play with a win in East Lansing.
NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock will tee up more than 100 hours of competition coverage.
Did you know Jim “Bones” Mackay has been involved in every Presidents Cup since it started in 1994? As either a caddie or broadcaster, Bones has seen every just about everything at the biennial match-play competition.
The 15th Presidents Cup is a four-day affair with competition beginning Thursday, Sept. 26, but the TV and streaming coverage of the biennial duel between the U.S. and the International squad starts Monday at Royal Montreal with Golf Channel’s Golf Central Live From the Presidents Cup.
It’s the beginning of 50 hours of studio coverage of the event on Golf Channel. In all, NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock will serve up more than 100 hours of competition coverage over seven days. There will also be streaming coverage on NBCSports.com as well as the NBC Sports app.

The game time and channel have been announced for Ohio State’s Big Ten opener against Michigan State, and Buckeye fans may not be all that happy. The game against Sparty will be under the lights starting at 7 pm in East Lansing. However, the contest will be aired on Peacock, NBC’s paid streaming service.
The game will air on Peacock as part of the multi-billion dollar media deal the Big Ten Conference signed with NBC, CBS, and Fox. This deal started in 2023 with Ohio State playing one game on the Peacock streaming service, beating Purdue 41-7. Peacock is scheduled to air nine Big Ten games this season.
Michigan State is currently 3-0 and will face Boston College before seeing the Buckeyes in Spartan Stadium. Ohio State also looks to stay unbeaten when it welcomes Marshall this week.

If you haven’t heard, Notre Dame football is releasing a documentary called “Here Come the Irish” on Peacock that will cover fall camp and onto the season.
The premiere is tomorrow, August 29th, and to create some excitement and anticipation, they released a minute-long trailer ahead of the first episode. It features linebacker [autotag]Jack Kiser[/autotag], while he’s on his farm working with his father.
This will be a great look into the Irish program, on top of getting to know the players away from the game of football. The short clip has Kiser talking about how he recognizes the special opportunity he has had to play for Notre Dame.
For many, it will be a must watch program. I will be tuning-in as soon as possible tomorrow.

When Notre Dame extended its contract with NBC Sports, the deal included a documentary on the football team that would steam exclusively on [autotag]Peacock[/autotag].
Well, the time has come for that to begin, as the Irish announced today when the first two episodes will air, August 29th. It will be an inside look into the program, which will be similar to HBO’s Hard Knocks.
Episodes three and four will be released on December 5th, five and six on December 19th and the finale on January 16th.
[autotag]“Here Come The Irish”[/autotag] is expected to follow Notre Dame through the preseason, up to the first game of the year, at a minimum according to The Irish Tribune. With that schedule you have to believe that it will go though most of the season.
While it’s unfortunate this is on Peacock, it’s just one more reason to bite the bullet and sign up. This alone most likely will be worth it, and you don’t have to worry about when the Irish are exclusively playing on the platform. (This was not an add, just my general thoughts.)

Snoop Dogg said he plans to smoke the competition for NBC.
Welcome to FTW Explains, a guide to catching up on and better understanding stuff going on in the world. This is FTW Explains: The Olympics.
Snoop Dogg is mostly known as a musician but he is also a man who wears many hats, which also includes an involvement with the Olympics.
The legendary Long Beach rapper, who has been nominated for 17 Grammy Awards and has won a Primetime Emmy Award during his illustrious career, is the ultimate multi-hyphenate.
Now spanning more than three decades in the public eye, he is as popular and recognizable today as ever. After selling more than 35 million albums around the world, fans will get another chance to watch him enjoy continued success as more than just a musician.
Snoop had a show for the Tokyo Olympics
Snoop Dogg is a massive sports fan, showing a particular affinity for teams based in Southern California.
Some of his favorite teams include the Lakers, Dodgers, USC Trojans and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also roots for several hockey teams and he even joined an investment group to buy the Ottawa Senators, although it was not successful.
He is a football coach, as featured in the Netflix documentary Coach Snoop, and operates the Snoop Youth Football League in Los Angeles.
NBCUniversal announced that he will provide regular updates for the network during the 2024 Paris Olympics. That includes on-air time with NBC’s Mike Tirico during prime time coverage.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness,” said Snoop Dogg. “We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
Snoop recently ran the 200-meter sprint at 2024 US Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
He will also get an opportunity to carry the Olympic torch in Paris ahead of the opening ceremony as well.
It got its name from Willie Park Jr., who won the Open twice and later wrote about the eighth hole at Royal Troon’s Old Course for Golf Illustrated, calling the shortie “a pitching surface skimmed down to the size of a postage stamp.”
At the 152nd edition of the British Open, which gets underway Thursday, this pint-sized terror will challenge the field of 158. Overall, the par-71 course measures 7,385 yards but the offical yardage for No. 8 is 123 yards, although it can play as short as 99. The putting surface is surround by five bunkers. In 1950, amateur Hermann Tissies needed five shots to get out of one of the bunkers, leading him to post a 15.
In 2024, golf fans can watch every shot over all four days live on the R&A’s website. Called “Postage Stamp Live“, the live streaming channel will have all the shots, from the first golfer to the last.
The Royal Troon website offers this description of the hole:
“The tee is on high ground and a dropping shot is played over a gully to a long but extremely narrow green set into the side of a large sandhill. Two bunkers protect the left side of the green while a large crater bunker shields the approach. Any mistake on the right will find one of the two deep bunkers with near vertical faces. There is no safe way to play this hole, the ball must find the green with the tee-shot. Many top players have come to grief at this the shortest hole in Open Championship golf.”
Henrik Stenson, the most recent to win the Claret Jug at Royal Troon in 2016, said, “If you’re the kind of fan that wants to see carnage I can highly recommend going out to that eigth hole and sitting in that grandstand on a difficult day.”
Tiger Woods was asked about the hole during his Tuesday news conference.
“I hit 9-iron and a pitching wedge the last two times I played it. I’ve hit as much as a 7-iron,” he said. “But it’s a very simple hole; just hit the ball on the green. That’s it. Green good, miss green bad. It doesn’t get any more simple than that. You don’t need a 240-yard par-3 for it to be hard.”
