Former MSU QB Payton Thorne not projected to start for Auburn

It appears there’s a strong chance former Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne could be sitting on the bench for his new team

There’s a strong chance former Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne will be on the bench for his new team.

Thorne transferred to Auburn after spring practice wrapped up this year, and was considered by many to be the likely new starting quarterback for the Tigers. However, a new report from Auburn Daily suggest returning quarterback Robby Ashford is the Vegas odds favorite to win the starting gig.

Thorne started the past two seasons for Michigan State, throwing for more than 6,000 yards and 46 touchdowns. Despite being a two-year starter, Thorne was battling Noah Kim and Katin Houser for the starting quarterback spot at Michigan State.
