Mock trade has Nets trading Ben Simmons, others for Pascal Siakam

This mock trade suggested by Bleacher Report has the Brooklyn Nets trading a haul for Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam.

While the Brooklyn Nets have their roster set for the most part, they were reportedly looking for a franchise-altering kind of trade when Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was still available to any team by the Miami Heat. Now that Lillard reportedly only wants to play for the Heat, the Nets have turned their attention elsewhere this offseason.

What if Brooklyn were still looking for a trade that could accelerate the current rebuilding process so that they can give themselves a better chance of making the playoffs this upcoming season and possibly achieve more? There is a player who’s future is uncertain that could make a difference for Brooklyn’s winning prospects.

In this mock trade suggested by Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Nets would be trading for a player who would be the star-level player that the organization is looking for who could also take some of the scoring burden off of Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson.

Pascal Siakam pegged as potential Spurs free agency target in 2024

Should the San Antonio Spurs try to sign Pascal Siakam in 2024 free agency?

The San Antonio Spurs have a new organizational goal – build a championship-caliber team around Victor Wembanyama. They picked the 19-year-old Frenchman with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He’s the most hyped-up prospect since LeBron James and projects to be one of the best players in the league.

While the Spurs didn’t make any major additions to the roster this summer, they’ll have a chance to add serious help next summer. They should still have a solid amount of cap space and will have the necessary assets to make trades, too. Sam LaFrance of Air Alamo recently suggested the idea of San Antonio targeting Pascal Siakam next summer.

He believes Siakam would bring star power and championship experience to the Spurs.

“The 29-year-old is coming off of a solid season in Toronto. He suited up in 71 games for the Raptors, playing about 37.4 minutes each time. Siakam averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game, while shooting 48.0% from the field and 32.4% from beyond the arc.

“Though his touch from distance could use work, those are some numbers that San Antonio would gladly pay for. If they were to pursue Siakam, they’d probably have to offer a three or four year contract worth $120-150 million.

“It’s a steep price tag, but the Cameroonian would bring added championship experience to a young Spurs team,” LaFrance wrote.

If the Spurs have the money to make an offer and Siakam would be interested in sticking around long-term, should they try to bring in the two-time All-Star next offseason?

Brooklyn Nets could be dark-horse trade destination for Raptors’ Pascal Siakam

The Brooklyn Nets could be a dark-horse trade destination for Pascal Siakam, according to James Piercey of the NBA Analysis Network.

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

The Brooklyn Nets have made it through most of their offseason as they have an idea of what their 2023 NBA draft picks, outside of Dariq Whitehead, will look like next season and have their free-agents to go into next season for a playoff push. It seems that Brooklyn could be a team to watch out for when it comes to trading for a star-level player.

In a recent article, James Piercey of the NBA Analysis Network believes that the Nets could be a dark-horse trade candidate for Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam. What brings this instance to the forefront is the speculation that Toronto could be looking to rebuild around some of the younger players on the team in order to get back to a contender.

To make this more interesting to ponder, Brooklyn was one of the teams that was reportedly a trade destination for Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard before he limited his choice to just the Miami Heat. Now, the Nets could pull a trade off this summer, but it would reportedly be for Heat guard Tyler Herro. However, that trade could take months to pull off because of the inability of Miami and Portland to come to terms on a fair trade for both sides.

To be clear, it’s still uncertain whether Siakam is one of the players that the Raptors want to part with before next season comes around. It’s possible that Siakam is still part of that team’s future, but if things change, the Nets could be a team to swoop in and make a big splash in the last couple of months of this offseason.

Could the Boston Celtics get involved in a three-team trade for Pascal Siakam?

Such a path might well be one of the Celtics’ best remaining vehicles to improve the team.

Could the Boston Celtics get involved in a three-team trade for Pascal Siakam? With the veteran Toronto Raptors big man is likely to be on the move given his expiring contract and poor fit with the ball club’s current lurch towards a rebuild or at least retool around the team’s youth movement.

The fit for a one-to-one deal with Boston may not make sense, but with the Raptors having previously been interested in the NBA’s 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon, there’s a decent shot that the Celtics might be able to find a way to fortify their depth via such a potential deal.

With Boston’s President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens making it clear that the team is not yet done making moves, such a path might well be one of the Celtics’ best remaining vehicles to improve the team.

To hear more about such a prospect, check out the clip embedded above put together by the folks at the “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast.

Four potential Pascal Siakam trade destinations

Here are four teams that could be good fits for Pascal Siakam and make an appealing offer for him.

The Toronto Raptors may finally be ready to make a big change to their group. At last year’s trade deadline, they listened to offers on all their best players but ultimately did not move any of them. Things backfired for them when they missed the playoffs and lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets in free agency.

The loss of VanVleet fractured an already middling offense and they may not be able to find a suitable replacement before the season starts. While the additions of Dennis Schroeder and Jalen McDaniels suggest that they’re still trying to be competitive, media reports believe otherwise.

According to SportNet’s Michael Grange, Pascal Siakam’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors and the Atlanta Hawks have been pursuing him. Marc Stein echoes similar sentiments and reports that the Indiana Pacers are a legitimate suitor to acquire him.

Trading Siakam could signal a shift toward a rebuild or retool considering the two-time All-NBA forward is their best player. He reportedly wants to remain in Toronto and does not want to discuss an extension with other teams, which could hurt his trade value. This season will be Siakam’s last with supermax eligibility, meaning he can qualify for it if he earns All-NBA honors this season.

If the Raptors do decide to move Siakam, here are some teams that make sense and what they could offer.

Mock trade has Nets trading Ben Simmons, picks for Pascal Siakam

The Brooklyn Nets would be trading Ben Simmons for Pascal Siakam in this mock trade suggested by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report.

The Brooklyn Nets have been trying to improve as much as they can during this offseason since they are trying to make the most of the young players and draft picks they have now. The Nets have made solid moves throughout this summer, but they haven’t been able to trade for the star-level player.

From many reports, Brooklyn had been trying to trade for Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard ever since the offseason began. While Lillard would have been the best player that the Nets could trade for, there have also been reports that he is not interested in playing for the Nets, or any team other than the Miami Heat.

In this mock trade proposed by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, Brooklyn would be able to trade for a player that could make a massive difference for the Nets next season and beyond. The only thing is, would trading for this spicy player by worth it?

Washburn: Boston Celtics should ‘look up north’ for a pair of trade targets

The Raptors “got some guys on some expiring contracts coming up that might be available to the Celtics” per the Globe reporter.

If the Boston Celtics plan on making more moves this offseason, one prominent NBA reporter believes they ought to look beyond the borders of the US for a pair of intriguing targets. The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn related in a recent interview with NBC Sports Boston that the Celtics should “look up north for some solutions” to make a trade with the Toronto Raptors for what the team needs to take a step forward as a contender.

“Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby,” floated Washburn. “Toronto has got to figure out whether it wants to rebuild or whether it wants to retool. They lost Fred VanVleet. They signed Dennis Schroder; they’re a team in total limbo right now.”

“They’ve got some guys on some expiring contracts coming up that might be available to the Celtics with all this draft capital, all the second round picks they’ve picked up over the last couple of weeks,” continued the Globe reporter.

“I think looking north would be their next move, but … they need to wait to this market to dry out,” suggested Washburn. “There are going to be some available guys in free agency who are going to be up to minimum deals.”

“They could come to Boston to have a chance to win a championship and continue their careers, because right now the market is drying and some of these guys are going to get left out.”

Mock trade sees Bulls flip Lonzo Ball for 2-time All-Star

This Chicago Bulls mock trade sees them ditch Lonzo Ball in exchange for a two-time All-Star.

The Chicago Bulls have made solid moves so far this summer. They re-signed both Nikola Vucevic and Coby White to three-year deals, and they inked free agents Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig to contracts that greatly improved their depth. Is it enough?

At the end of this past season, Arturas Karnisovas stated the Bulls had no intention of rebuilding the roster. But if that’s the case, Carter and Craig aren’t enough. If they want to be a lock to make the playoffs, the Bulls need to make a massive splash on the trade market.

During a stream for Bleacher Report, NBA YouTuber Sixringsofsteel suggested a trade that would see Chicago do just that.

Raptors’ Pascal Siakam believes Sixers’ Joel Embiid deserves to be MVP

Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam believes Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid deserves the MVP award.

The regular season is coming down to the final days, so it is time to finally put the MVP race to bed.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is at the forefront of the discussions as the award is coming down to him, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Embiid finished as the runner-up to Jokic in each of the previous two seasons.

Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam believes it’s Embiid’s time to win the award:

Gotta be my Cameroonian brother. It’s gotta be Embiid. He’s been doing it for years but just this year doing it at an incredible level. He’s just playing unbelievable basketball. The team is winning, he’s doing on both ends of the floor and I’m sure there’s like a lot of other people out there that deserve it. Like the (Jayson) Tatum’s and Jokic and all these people but I think for me, obviously I might be biased, but it will be awesome to see someone from where I’m from win an MVP like that would be crazy. It’s crazy inspiration just to know that man like this is really possible and not only that, not only that I’m biased. I think he also deserves it.

It will certainly be interesting to see what will happen with the MVP award. Embiid is averaging 33.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists, and he is on the verge of winning another scoring title while shooting 54.7% from the floor. His dominant game of 52 points on 20-for-25 shooting in Tuesday’s win over the Boston Celtics should be the game that shuts the case on the MVP race.

Brooklyn Nets pursued Raptors’ Pascal Siakam in effort to keep Kevin Durant

The Brooklyn Nets did what they could to keep Kevin Durant.

The Brooklyn Nets tried to trade for Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam before the NBA trade deadline in an effort to keep superstar Kevin Durant, according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe. It sounds like the conversation that Lowe is talking about happened in this past summer when Durant initially asked for a trade.

There were multiple reports stating that Brooklyn were going after Siakam and forward O.G. Anunoby in their bid to make the team better around Durant and Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately for the Nets, Irving wanted out due to not getting the contract extension that he wanted and after Irving was traded, Durant asked out as well and got his wish.

There were also reports from multiple sources that the Raptors were more willing to move Anunoby than they were Siakam. In the end, the Nets weren’t able to pull off a trade for Siakam and it sounds like that contributed to Durant ultimately wanting out. Lowe explained on “The Lowe Post Show” how the Nets discussed going after another star player went:

“I think they told him, ‘Hey man, in the summer, we can get some big names. There are going to be some big names who might ask out. We are going to collect stuff to give ourselves a shot at it.’ I’m not going to name who those names are, but I think that’s a conversation that was had. They tried to get Pascal Siakam now in the intervening 96 hours because K.D. made it known he likes Pascal Siakam. He thought he would be a good fit.”
