Check out Golfweek’s best golf pants for 2024 including brands like Peter Millar, Bonobos, Nike, Puma and more.
Fall is here, which means your days on the golf course are starting to get a little bit chillier. So, it’s time to load up your wardrobe with warm clothes to get through the next several months.
In this list, we’re focused on golf pants.
To guarantee you’re stocked up, we’ve searched the internet for some of the best golf pants on the market from brands like Nike, Lululemon, Peter Millar, Brooks Brothers, Radmor Golf, Vineyard Vines, Puma and more.
On Friday, we saw Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith slide in against the New York Mets and a sizeable hole showed up near his knee.
Earlier in the month, the Detroit Tigers’ Riley Greene ripped open the side of his pants sliding into home. Chicago Cubs slugger Cody Bellinger ended up with a hole after sliding into third.
Fanatics is off the hook thanks to Nike’s tragic new pants
Spring training might feel a bit redundant for modern pro athletes who spend all year fine-tuning their bodies, but it’s becoming quite necessary for MLB’s uniform partners, who apparently need the time to iron out some significant issues.
First was the on-going Fanatics jersey debacle, with players finding threads in their lockers unsuitable for casual wear, let alone on-field performance. And it turns out that was just a precursor to what might be the biggest issue in camp right now: MLB’s new Nike pants.
Specifically, the pants are completely see-through. There’s really no kind way to say it. Everyone who puts them on looks like Steve Lyons on his most-embarrassing day, as Cal Raleigh (and those who watched his Mariners video) quickly learned.
If you’re wondering why this is only popping up now when some players have been in camp for more than a week, it turns out many have been wearing pants from last season to avoid anyone getting a glimpse at what’s underneath.
The players who did wear them for photo day are probably wishing they hadn’t.

This isn’t the first time Nike has had issues with pants transparency after introducing a new uni template. When they took over the NFL’s uniform contract in 2012, the first month of that season brought us this:
While we’re at it, it’s also worth remembering that Nike had major problems — not with pants, but with uniform quality — when they took over NBA uniforms in 2017. So these growing pains (or, if you prefer, rank incompetence) are nothing new for them.
So there you have it. MLB’s jerseys are hard to read and look cheaply made while MLB’s pants are bringing fans closer to their favorite players than ever. Never say this league is afraid to innovate.
Just in case you think these are isolated incidents, more examples of the see-through pants are below.

The New Orleans Saints announced the biggest news of the week on Friday: which uniforms they’ll be wearing for Sunday’s game with the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints will be pairing their white away jerseys with black pants in Week 10, which has been one of their winningest uniform combos since 2006 — they’ve gone 43-28 in games while wearing these kits.
Jokes aside, it’s a very common look for the Saints. They’ve used these uniforms in 71 of their last 300 games (including the playoffs), second only to the black-and-black combo worn in last week’s win over the Chicago Bears (and 89 games dating back to 2006).
Here’s how the Saints’ winning percentage in this combination stacks up to the other kits in their wardrobe, if you’re curious (not including the controversial gold jerseys used in a loss back in 2003):
The New Orleans Saints announced their uniform combination for Week 2’s away game with the Carolina Panthers: black jerseys and gold pants. It’s the second week in a row the Saints have gone with the nominally gold trousers, which can look closer to beige or khaki depending on the light, meaning the Saints have used gold pants just as often in 2021 as they did in 2020 and 2019 combined.
Because they’re the visiting team this week, the Saints had to let the Panthers choose whether to wear darker home-colored jerseys. Carolina did not, meaning New Orleans will be wearing black-and-gold in Charlotte’s mild late-summer heat.
Here is the winning percentage the Saints have achieved in each of their different uniform combinations dating back to 2006, when Sean Payton was hired to coach the team:
Here’s your dress code for the New Orleans Saints preseason opener: white jerseys and gold pants, with black socks. The Saints shared their fashion plans in an email to season ticketholders — plan to dress accordingly. They haven’t made a public announcement, though, so maybe pack a second jersey just in case.
It’s good to see the mismatched white socks have been shelved — they were a bit of an eyesore with the black trousers, and didn’t work with the black stripe running down the outside leg of these gold pants. Hopefully they only get used when the Saints wear white pants from now on.
The white road jerseys have been worn often enough the last few years, but appearances have been few and far between for the gold pants. New Orleans didn’t use gold pants at all after Drew Brees’ surprise Week 2 hand injury in 2019, introducing white pants instead to alternate with their black trousers for the next 29 games. That streak ended in the 2020 regular season finale. Team captains vote on each week’s uniform, so they must have felt any bad luck associated with this combo is behind them.
For the curious: here is how each uniform combo ranks by winning percentage, dating back to Sean Payton’s first game coaching the Saints in 2006 (including the playoffs, but not preseason games):
The New Orleans Saints are playing the hits in their Wild-Card Round game with the Chicago Bears, announcing on Twitter that they’ll be wearing the familiar combo of black home jerseys and matching black pants. The formalwear has served them well in recent years, and it’s been the most-popular look in the Sean Payton era, dating back to his hire in 2006.
Here’s how each combination has fared in wins and losses during that time span, ranked by winning percentage:
Here’s a bit of a surprise: after initially announcing that they would use white jerseys and black pants in Week 17’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints have instead shared an update on the week’s uniform combo. They’ll still be wearing white away jerseys, but this time with gold trousers.
It’s the first time we’ve seen this look since the 2017 season. The gold pants last made an appearance in 2019 Week 2’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams (worn with black jerseys), but they haven’t been paired with white jerseys since 2017 Week 17’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This white jerseys-gold pants combo has been one of the more popular sets used in the Sean Payton era, going back to 2006. The Saints have worn it 55 times in that span, but only won 31 of those games — a winning percentage of .564, the lowest of all seven uniform combinations used by New Orleans since 2006:
White jerseys, white pants: 6-2 (.750)
“Color Rush” alternates: 8-3 (.727)
“Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
White jerseys, black pants: 41-25 (.621)
Black jerseys, black pants: 45-29 (.608)
White jerseys, gold pants: 31-24 (.564)
Maybe they can end the 2020 regular season on a high note and start to buck that narrative with a win at Carolina.
The New Orleans Saints announced that they will be wearing white away jerseys with matching white trousers in Sunday’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles, continuing their streak of games played without the gold pants that were a staple for much of the Sean Payton era.
For his part, Payton is forwarding questions on that to the team captains who make uniform decisions. We haven’t seen the gold pants since Week 2 in 2019, when Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury against the Los Angeles Rams. Maybe the team’s leadership feel it’s bad luck.
Anyway: this week’s combination has the best win-loss record of any set used since Payton took the job back in 2006. That should superstitious fans (and maybe players) happy. The full rankings:
