Panthers Week 4 injury report: 5 players limited at Wednesday practice

Here is your first look at this week’s official injury report.

The Carolina Panthers are still shorthanded, especially in the trenches heading into Week 4. Five starting linemen are on today’s injury report, but one was a non-injury related absence.

Here is your first look at this week’s official injury report.

Okung missed last week’s game against the Chargers with his groin injury. Short and Daley sat out as well but it sounds like they are likely to return to the lineup against Arizona. Coach Matt Rhule told reporters the team will see how Short’s foot responds to today’s practice to determine his status for Sunday.

Also, wide receiver Keith Kirkwood and cornerback Eli Apple practiced for the first time this season. Both are eligible to be activated from the injured reserve list this week. Rhule has designated both to return but he has three weeks to decide when.

Panthers injury updates: OT Russell Okung misses Thursday practice

Here’s a look at the updated Week 3 injury report.

Another lineman has been added to the Panthers’ injury report for this week. This time it’s starting left tackle Russell Okung, who sat out Thursday’s practice due to a groin issue. Defensive tackle Kawann Short (foot) and left guard Dennis Daley (ankle) also did not participate today.

Here’s a look at the updated Week 3 injury report.

If Okung winds up not playing on Sunday against his former team, either Greg Little or Trent Scott will start in his place.

On the bright side, the team’s second-round draft pick, defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos has cleared the concussion protocol and returned to practice after getting poked in the eye last week.

Panthers Week 3 injury report: 2 linemen out, 3 limited at first practice

Here’s how the team’s Week 3 injury report is shaping up.

The Panthers lost their best player to a high ankle sprain this week. They’re also hurting in the trenches, with several starters either not participating or being limited at practice on Wednesday.

The most concerning name here belongs to Burns, who is the only defensive lineman who’s played well this season. His injury doesn’t sound serious, though. Apparently, Burns had to sit out a few plays after getting kicked and coach Matt Rhule thinks he will be fine.

In related news, Carolina’s All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey has been placed on the injured reserve list. He will be eligible to return in just three weeks under the new rules.

Panthers Week 2 injury report: 3 linemen ruled out vs. Buccaneers

Here is the team’s complete official Week 2 injury report.

Three starting linemen for the Carolina Panthers have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gross-Matos was originally listed with an eye injury after getting poked at practice on Wednesday. He developed concussion symptoms though, so he is now in the protocol.

Daley is missing his second straight game with a sprained ankle. Coach Matt Rhule never expressed any hope that he’d be able to play this week.

Finally, Short hurt his foot against the Raiders and played through the pain. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow told reporters he would be surprised if Short doesn’t play on Sunday, so this is a disappointing development.

Expect Michael Schofield (LG), Zach Kerr (DT) and Stephen Weatherly (DE) to start at their respective positions.

Panthers Week 2 injury report: Donte Jackson practices, Kawann Short does not

Here’s our first look at the Week 2 injury report.

The Carolina Panthers had two linemen out at practice today, including their best one.

Coach Matt Rhule told reporters he doesn’t have hope Daley will be able to play Sunday, so expect Michael Schofield to continue starting at left guard in his place.

Missing Daley is no huge deal, but Short is one guy they can’t afford to lose given their lack of interior defensive line depth. Short missed 14 games due to a shoulder injury last season, which was a huge factor in the team’s run defense falling off a cliff. Rhule says Short is doing everything he can to come back.

As for Donte Jackson, he left the Week 1 loss against the Raiders early with an ankle injury and did not return. While Rasul Douglas stepped up, Jackson is another defensive piece that they need on the field, so it’s good to see him listed as a full participant.

In related news, running back Christian McCaffrey was spotted wearing a green no contact jersey. The good news is he’s not listed on the official injury report. Last year, coach Ron Rivera wisely took to resting McCaffrey one day a week, so we will assume that’s what’s going on here.

Panthers Week 1 injury report: Only 1 player out at Wednesday’s practice

Here is our first look at the team’s official Week 1 injury report.

The Carolina Panthers host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in their first game of the 2020 season. They’ll be rolling into this matchup relatively healthy, with only one player not participating in practice on Wednesday. 18 others were listed as full participants.

Daley is dealing with a sprained ankle. Coach Matt Rhule says he’s considered day-to-day. If he can’t go, expect Michael Schofield to start at left guard in his place. The other 18 are likely to play.

In related news, wide receiver Keith Kirkwood (shoulder) and cornerback Eli Apple (ankle) are currently on the injured reserve list and will be eligible to come back in a few weeks. However, punter Michael Palardy and rookie receiver Omar Bayless are on permanent IR and will miss the entire season.

The Panthers also have one player on the reserve/COVID-19 list: offensive lineman Chris Reed.

Panthers Week 17 injury report: WR D.J. Moore (concussion) still out

Here’s how the Week 17 report is shaping up.

The Panthers have dealt with injuries all season, so it’s fitting that their last injury report of the year is as long as it is.

Here’s how the Week 17 report is shaping up.

There was no practice on Wednesday because of the holiday, so those are unofficial designations.

Assuming Moore doesn’t play, we should see more of wide receivers like Chris Hogan and Brandon Zylstra. Offensive coordinator Scott Turner told the media today replacing Moore will be a group effort.

We definitely won’t see Thompson, who has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game. That means Jermaine Carter Jr. should get another chance to prove himself against the Saints.

Panthers Week 16 injury report: 3 defensive linemen miss first practice

Here’s how this week’s injury report is shaping up.

The Panthers defensive line was supposed to be the strongest unit on the team this year. Unfortunately, injuries have decimated the group’s depth in the middle. This week, it’s more of the same as three DL missed the first practice on Wednesday.

Here’s how this week’s injury report is shaping up.

McCoy has been resting on Wednesdays since early in the season, so that’s nothing to worry about. Addison and Haynes will be two names we monitor for the rest of the week.

Expect Reid, Thompson and McCaffrey to return to practice tomorrow if they follow the same routines they have lately.

Olsen has cleared the concussion protocol so he should play Sunday.

Panthers Week 15 injury report: 6 players miss Wednesday practice

The Panthers had six players sit out the first practice of the week as they prepare to face the Seahawks on Sunday.

Ian Thomas did a fine job in Olsen’s place last week against the Falcons. If Olsen has to sit out again, Carolina should be alright at tight end. There’s certainly no reason to rush him back at this stage of the season and his career.

It’s not clear exactly what happened with Haynes’ knee. He left Atlanta on crutches, though. If he can’t play, hopefully the rookie Christian Miller will be able to get some valuable experience.
