Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Week 1 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears open their 2023 NFL regular seasons at the Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Packers vs. Bears odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Packers open up a new era, as QB Jordan Love takes over under center for the departed QB Aaron Rodgers. Technically, it is Love’s 2nd career NFL start, as he got the nod Nov. 7, 2021, in Kansas City when Rodgers tested positive for COVID.

The Bears hope the 9th time is a charm. Packers coach Matt LaFleur enters this game 8-for-8 against Chicago in his NFL career. The Bears brought in WR DJ Moore in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, giving QB Justin Fields a legitimate downfield threat.

Packers at Bears picks and predictions

Prediction

Bears 23, Packers 19

Moneyline

The BEARS (-125) are going to break the streak, as the Packers (-105) head into Week 1 shorthanded.

Love will get the starting nod, but Watson’s loss is huge for the offense, as the new signal caller has to make his way without his WR1. And if Doubs is also sidelined, that would be a huge problem for Love.

Against the spread

The BEARS -1.5 (-110) are a better play laying the small amount of points, as it costs slightly less. Unless you believe the Bears are only going to win by a single point, if you like Chicago, it makes more sense to bet the spread than just play it straight up.

Over/Under

OVER 41.5 (-110) is the lean, but go very, very lightly.

The Over has cashed in 2 of the past 3 meetings in this series. However, the Packers will have difficulty scoring without Watson on the field, but they still have the versatile RB Aaron Jones.

The Bears can run the ball well, with Fields, as well as RBs D’Onta Foreman and Khalil Herbert. Add Moore into this offense, giving the team a legit downfield threat, and we should see an uptick in scoring in Chitown.

First look: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears renew their long-time rivalry with a Week 1 battle at Soldier Field. Kickoff Sunday is at 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Packers vs. Bears odds from BetMGM Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s NFL picks and predictions.

Green Bay went 8-9 last season, and the Packers head into the 2023 campaign without the signal caller who has been in the NFL since 2005 and had been their starter since 2008. With QB Aaron Rodgers traded to the New York Jets, a new era of Green Bay football gets underway Sunday.

That new era launches in what marks the 206th meeting — including 2 postseason games — with the Chicago Bears. Chicago’s last-in-the-league 27.2 points per game allowed were a big factor in the team going just 3-14 a year ago. On offense, the Bears have added some pieces around QB Justin Fields, who last season logged 17 TD passes and 8 rushing TDs.

The Green Bay Packers (4-1) and Chicago Bears (3-2) meet Sunday in Week 6 for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Soldier Field. Below, we look at the Packers vs. Bears odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

Green Bay squeaked by the Cincinnati Bengals 25-22 in overtime Sunday, covering the spread as 2-point favorites. PK Mason Crosby’s 49-yard, winning field goal with 1:55 to go in OT capped a dramatic final four-plus minutes.

The two teams missed a combined five field-goal attempts down the stretch. Crosby missed three, one with 2:14 to go in the fourth quarter, one as regulation expired and one that would have won it in overtime. Cincinnati PK Evan McPherson missed two, hitting uprights both times, one with 26 seconds left in regulation and one that also would have won it in OT.

Chicago upset the Las Vegas Raiders 20-9 as a 5.5-point road underdog in Week 5. The Bears scored two second-quarter touchdowns and took a 14-6 lead into the break. The defense allowed 259 total yards, holding the Raiders 147.5 yards below their season average.

Rookie QB Justin Fields threw his first NFL passing touchdown and finished with 111 passing yards with 1 TD and 0 interceptions. He played most of the game with a hyperextended knee, which will be something to keep an eye on. With star RB David Montgomery out with a knee injury, RB Khalil Herbert (75 rushing yards, 0 TD) and RB Damien Williams (64 yards, 1 TD) led Chicago’s ground attack, which outrushed Las Vegas 143 to 71 yards.
