The Bears fell to 0-2 on the season after losing 27-17 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. QB Justin Fields continues to struggle as a pocket passer, throwing more INTs than TDs this season. He ran for 1,143 yards in 2022 but is averaging just 31 yards per game on the ground this year. Fields is not happy with the direction of this offense, calling out his coaching staff for making him too robotic during his mid-week press conference.

Kansas City bounced back in Week 2 with a 17-9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars after its heartbreaking opening night loss to the Detroit Lions at home. The Chiefs typically potent offense has not been able to score more than 20 points in a game this season. QB Patrick Mahomes is averaging 265 passing yards and 2 TDs per game, which is nearly 40 yards below his career average. This should be a get-right game for the Chiefs’ offense against a Bears team that allowed QB Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers to put up 27 points against them.

Despite the early-season offensive struggles, the Chiefs will get their groove back against the Bears on Sunday. As much as I like Kansas City to win this game, no way am I going to bet -750. It’s just a bad bet.

Against the spread

BET CHIEFS -12.5 (-110).

Normally, I have a rule against betting any NFL team giving double-digit points, but in this case, I’ll make an exception. I just don’t see any way the Bears stay in this game. Their quarterback is calling out the coaching staff in press conferences, and they refuse to utilize their best offensive weapon in Fields.

The Bears’ defense is allowing over 32 points per game on the season. They have also allowed opponents to convert on 3rd down over 50 percent of the time, which leads the league. Mahomes should slice and dice this defense all afternoon.

Over/Under

AVOID.

I’m just going to personally stay away from this total. I believe the Chiefs will score at will against this defense, but their offensive struggles thus far this season scare me. I also don’t believe the Bears will do their part to help get to this number.

There are just too many variables and it makes me wary of touching this bet.
