Titans elevate Matthew Wright, place Otis Reese on injured reserve

The Tennessee Titans multiple roster moves ahead of their Week 18 battle with the Houston Texans.

The Tennessee Titans dipped into their practice squad on Saturday to add some reinforcements for their Sunday afternoon battle with the Houston Texans.

Tennessee will need a lot of help with eight players already declared out for the game. One of those, linebacker Otis Reese, was placed on injured reserve with his ankle injury ending his 2024 campaign. To help take his place, the Titans signed outside linebacker Khalid Jones and wide receiver Tay Martin to the active roster.

After those moves, the Titans elevated safety Gervarrius Owens and kicker Matthew Wright for Sunday. Both of these moves were standard elevations and both players will return to the practice squad after the game.

With Arden Key, Amani Hooker, Tyler Boyd and kicker Nick Folk already out, these moves will add depth as the Titans limp into their finale.

The Titans will take on the Titans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday to end their disappointing 2024 season.

Titans’ injury report: Multiple starters sit out practice

The Tennessee Titans released their first injury report for Week 12 and see multiple starters on the sidelines.

The Tennessee Titans dropped a tough one on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings and suffered some damaging injuries in the process.

Heading into Week 12, it is already known that linebacker Jack Gibbens will be out and likely placed on injured reserve prior to kickoff. Gibbens suffered a devastating lower leg injury that required surgery on Monday. Since has not been placed on IR yet, he was a non-participant.

Running back Tyjae Spears (concussion) and linebacker Otis Reese IV (ribs) were also injured during that contest. Spears is in concussion protocol and did not practice, while Reese practiced and was not listed on the injury report.

Starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (quad) did not practice and is likely out for Week 12. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley, tackle Leroy Watson IV, defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day, defensive back Justin Hardee, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, Cornerback Roger McCreary, and linebacker Kenneth Murray did not practice

Defensive Back Justin Hardee was limited with a groin injury.

Titans injury report: Peter Skoronski limited

The Tennessee Titans added guard Peter Skoronski to the injury report Thursday.

One day after seeing every player take part in practice, the Titans were forced to make an addition to the injury report. Left guard Peter Skoronski was added to the report as a limited participant with a neck injury.

Tennessee’s 2023 first-round selection, Skoronski, is a huge part of the rebuilt offensive line, and any type of limitation would have a ripple effect. This is a situation to monitor as the week continues.

Safety Jamal Adams continues to progress toward a Week 2 return to action, just in time for Tennessee’s game against the team that drafted him No. 6 overall in 2017.

The Titans’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: N/A

Limited participant: Peter Skoronski (neck)

Full participant: Jamal Adams (hip), Otis Reese (Concussion), Dillon Radunz (rib)

Titans injury report: Jamal Adams returns to practice

The Tennessee Titans released their first injury report for Week 2 and see a veteran safety return to the field.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field to start preparing for their Week 2 match-up against the New York Jets and it provided an opportunity to see where several of the team’s injured players are at.

All eyes were on safety Jamal Adams, who was inactive against the Bears and has yet to make his regular-season debut with the Titans. Adams returned to practice on Wednesday and looks to make an impact this week.

Things appear to be trending in the right direction, as wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie were removed from the injury report and fully participated in practice. The Titans’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: N/A

Limited participant: N/A

Full participant: Jamal Adams (hip), Otis Reese (Concussion), Dillon Radunz (rib)

Titans see two more added to the walking wounded list

After seeing only two players miss practice on Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans watched that list double on Thursday.

After watching two veterans sit out practice on Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans saw an increased number of players sit out on Thursday when the team returned to the practice field. Going into the week, the team appeared to be set up well from a health perspective and are relatively healthy. But as the
week crawls toward a close, more questions arise.

Joining wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and safety Jamal Adams on the sideline on Thursday were a couple of defenders: edge Arden Key and linebacker Otis Reese IV.

Key, the veteran edge rusher, has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the past week. Initially diagnosed with a slight hamstring injury, he missed some time last week prior to the preseason finale but did take the field on Wednesday, matching head coach Brian Callahan’s initial assessment.

Reese is more of a question mark. The linebacker missed some time last week being inside the league’s concussion protocol. Though he practiced on Wednesday, it is reported that he is still making his way through protocol.

With over a week until kick off the season Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, the Titans have time to get to full strength. Will they? Time will tell.

Titans down multiple players for Wednesday’s practice

The Titans are feeling the effects of this part of the season with multiple players being held out of practice on Wednesday.

As the Tennessee Titans hit the field in preparation for their preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints, they are feeling the effects of the preseason grind. According to reports, multiple players will be held out of practice on Wednesday.

Defensive tackle TK McLendon Jr., who hurt his foot in the victory over the Seattle Seahawks, is the most significant. He is expected to miss multiple weeks of action after suffering a turf toe injury that impacts the defensive line’s overall depth.

Wide receiver and kick returner Kearis Jackson was also injured against the Seahawks. He suffered a bone bruise in his knee during the first half and did not return. The injury deals a tremendous blow to Jackson, who is locked in a battle for one of the last roster spots.

Tight end Josh Whyle and linebacker Otis Reese are both in the concussion protocol. Reese was also injured against the Seahawks. It is unclear when Whyle entered the protocol; he was one of many Titans held out of action against the Seahawks.

Titans training camp: 1 rookie to watch at each defensive position

Shaun Calderon names one rookie to watch at each position on defense for the Titans going into training camp, a list that includes all undrafted free agents.

After going over the Titans’ offensive rookies on Monday, today we take a closer look at which defensive rookies to keep an eye on as training camp rapidly approaches.

The Titans’ defense looks very strong on paper, in particular when it comes to the top of the depth chart. Tennessee has a good mix of established playmakers and young talent all across the board.

However, to say the depth at several positions is questionable at best would be drastically underselling it.

As we noted in the offensive article earlier this week, the Titans used all of their draft picks on offense, which means this article is going to revolve around undrafted free agents who are looking to make a name for themselves.

Believe it or not, there are some very intriguing players on this list despite their status as undrafted free agents, so let’s not wait any longer and dive right into it.
