Season series: Magic lead 1-0 with 121-106 road win on March 21

Orlando has won back-to-back games after taking down the Portland Trail Blazers 104-103 on Monday while failing to cover as a 17-point home favorite. Magic at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 111, Magic 104

Moneyline

PASS.

There is better value on the Pelicans (-175) spread.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS -4.5 (-105).

Orlando has failed to cover in 4 of its last 5 games. It has scored 104 or fewer points in 3 of its last 4 games and will not be able to keep up with a Pelicans squad that has scored 111 or more points in 4 of its last 6. New Orleans is 2-1 ATS in its last 3 home games while playing as a favorite.

Over/Under

BET OVER 208.5 (-105).

While both squads have performed poorly against the Over recently, 208.5 is too low of a total to feel comfortable betting the Under. The Magic have scored 104 or more points in 8 of their last 10 while allowing 100 or more in 5 of their last 6 games. The Pelicans have scored 104 or more points in 9 of their last 10 while allowing 100 or more in 8 of their last 10.

Portland Trail Blazers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Portland Trail Blazers (19-55) and Orlando Magic (43-31) meet Monday at Kia Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Trail Blazers vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Magic lead 1-0

The Trail Blazers have started 0-3 on their current 7-game road trip. They are coming off of a 60-point loss Friday night to the Miami Heat. Portland failed to cover the spread as a 14-point underdog in the 142-82 loss as the Over (207.5) cashed. Four Heat players scored 20 points or more, and the team had 17 steals in the victory. The Trail Blazers hit just 5 of 30 (16.7%) from long range. Portland has lost 9 straight games.

Orlando snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 118-88 win against the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday night. It covered the spread as a 13-point favorite, and the Under (209) cashed. Four Magic starters scored in double figures, led by C Wendell Carter Jr., who had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He also added 2 assists, 2 steals and a block. The Magic are currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference.

The Magic have won 3 of the last 4 games against the Trail Blazers. In their most recent meeting (Oct. 27), Orlando won 102-97 as a 5-point favorite with the Under (220.5) cashing in Portland.

Trail Blazers at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 110, Trail Blazers 95

Moneyline

PASS.

You should avoid betting the Magic (-1600), as the juice is too much. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

PASS.

I hate to avoid a bet, but I do not see an edge in this game. Both teams are 1-3 in their last 4 ATS. Orlando has covered in 3 of the last 4 head-to-head meetings, but none of those had a number this big. The Magic will win this game without much doubt in my mind, but will they cover this number? I don’t know, which is why I’m going to stay away.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 209 (-110).

The Under has cashed in 4 of their last 5 head-to-head meetings.

Portland has scored over 110 in just 2 of their last 11 games.

The Under has hit in 8 of Orlando’s last 10 games. The Magic like to play at a slower pace and are ranked 24th in the league in possessions per game, while Portland is 17th.

Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Orlando Magic (42-31) welcome the Memphis Grizzlies (24-49) to Kia Center Saturday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Grizzlies vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Magic lead 1-0

The Magic, who sit 5th in the Eastern Conference, have lost 3 straight games, all at home. This streak comes on the back of a 5-game winning streak in which they covered each victory. They are coming off a 100-97 loss to the LA Clippers Friday, failing to cover as 1.5-point underdogs. Orlando is 47-26 against the spread (ATS) and 5-3 ATS over its last 8. It is led by F Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 22.5 points per game.

The Grizzlies have struggled for most of the season as many of their key players have been injured, and superstar G Ja Morant has played just 9 games. Memphis is coming off a 136-124 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, failing to cover as a 4.5-point underdog. It has lost 6 of its last 7 games and has gone 3-4 ATS in that span. The Grizzlies are 35-38 ATS on the season.

Grizzlies at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 116, Grizzlies 101

Moneyline

PASS.

The Grizzlies are 2-8 straight up over their last 10 and 1-4 on the road in that span, only beating the San Antonio Spurs. Despite Orlando’s (-820) recent home struggles, the Magic aren’t worth fading here.

However, they are also far too expensive to take on the moneyline.

Against the spread

BET MAGIC -13 (-110).

Orlando has covered its last 4 games as a double-digit favorite, including a 20-point home win over Charlotte as a 13-point favorite and a 15-point home win over Toronto as an 11-point favorite in the last 3 weeks.

Memphis has been an underdog of 11 or more 4 times in the last 3 weeks, and it is 1-3 ATS in those games. The Grizzlies have scored 103 or fewer in 3 of their last 5 road games.

Expect the Magic, who have the league’s 2nd-best defensive rating, to dominate this one. Back MAGIC -13 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 205.5 (-112).

The Grizzlies have gone Over in 6 of their last 7 games. They have allowed at least 128 points in 3 of their last 4 games, so the Magic should be able to score with ease Saturday.

For Orlando, it has allowed 106 or more in 2 of its last 4 games and at least 100 in 4 straight. It is 1-1 O/U in the 2 games which it has seen a total of 206 or fewer.

Considering the recent trends for Memphis, back OVER 205.5 (-112).

LA Clippers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s LA Clippers at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Orlando Magic (42-30) welcome the LA Clippers (45-27) to the Kia Center Friday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET.  Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Clippers vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Clippers lead 1-0

The Clippers beat the Magic 118-102 in Los Angeles on Oct. 31, covering as a 6.5-point home favorite.

Los Angeles is coming off a 108-107 road win over the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday, failing to cover as a 6.5-point favorite. It has lost 4 of its last 7 and 6 of its last 10. The Clippers are 34-38 against the spread (ATS) on the season yet just 2-8 ATS over their last 10. They are led by F Kawhi Leonard, who is averaging 23.7 points per game (PPG).

The Magic lost to the Golden State Warriors 101-93 Wednesday, failing to cover as a 4-point home favorite. Orlando has lost 2 straight after a 5-game win streak. The Magic are 47-25 ATS on the season and 5-2 ATS over their last 7. They are led by F Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 22.5 PPG.

Clippers at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 108, Clippers 106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Magic have either won or lost by a single bucket in 6 of their last 7. While the plus-money odds here for them to win outright are enticing, take the spread instead.

Against the spread

BET MAGIC +1.5 (-112).

Orlando has been on a tear as of late despite losing its last 2. It lost by 2 to the Sacramento Kings and beat the New Orleans Pelicans by 15 in its last 3 games. Both of those teams are in the playoff picture like the Clippers. The Magic have been stellar for bettors at home, posting a 24-11 ATS record, the 2nd-best in the NBA.

Meanwhile, the Clippers have struggled as a favorite, failing to cover in 4 straight games as a favorite and in 5 of their last 6 as a favorite. They have lost 2 of their last 3 as well.

Considering the recent trends for both teams, back MAGIC +1.5 (-112).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 209.5 (-110).

This total is just too low for the playmaking that should be on display Friday evening. The Clippers have scored at least 116 in 3 of their last 5 and at least 107 in all 5. They have gone Over in 5 straight and in 8 of their last 10.

The Magic, while they have gone Over in just 1 of their last 3, have scored at least 110 in 5 of their last 7. Their defense has been their staple, but they will be taking on a Clippers team with solid players in F Paul George and Leonard.

Expect the stars to shine and back OVER 209.5 (-110).

Golden State Warriors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Golden State Warriors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Golden State Warriors (37-34) take on the Orlando Magic (42-29) Wednesday with tip-off from Kia Center set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Warriors vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Warriors lead 1-0

The Warriors defeated the Miami Heat 113-92 Tuesday night as 3.5-point faves. G Klay Thompson shouldered the load with 28 points on 6-for-14 from distance. After struggling with the 3-ball for much of the season, he’s shooting 41% from deep this month, which is more in line with his career average. The Dubs need to pick it up, as they’re 4-6 over the last 10, and the Houston Rockets are just 1 game from kicking them out of the play-in tournament.

The Magic are firmly in 5th place in the East and sit just 1½ games from jumping up to 3rd. Their efforts took a hit with a 109-107 loss to the Sacramento Kings Saturday as 3-point favorites. The setback snapped a 5-game winning streak. F Paolo Banchero had 22 points, 7 boards and 5 assists.

Warriors at Magic and predictions

Prediction

Magic 118, Warriors 112

Moneyline

I’m a little worried about G Stephen Curry. He’s averaging 21.8 PPG this month, which is fine, but he averages 26.7 on the season. He’s also shooting an abysmal (for him) 35.7% from long range and 41.3% from the floor overall in March. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has a motto that in the playoffs: “superstars will get you one.” And Curry could absolutely take over and lead the Dubs to a win. However, on the back end of a back-to-back, and with his recent showings, I’m siding with the books.

That said, I’m not touching the -175 on the young Orlando squad.

Instead, I’m keying in on F Draymond Green. He’ll have a bit of a size advantage underneath and could stuff the stat sheet. He is averaging 9.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG and 6 APG in the last 4 games. Take DRAYMOND GREEN OVER 20.5 POINTS+REBOUNDS+ASSISTS (-125).

Against the spread

We’re projecting Orlando to cover here, but I have a more profitable idea.

Banchero has drained a 3-pointer in 12 straight games and is shooting at a career-high clip of 36.5% on the season. The problem is his line is 1.5, and he has hit two 3’s in 4 of those 12 games. He went 3-for-8 against Golden State in January, and the Warriors will entice you to chuck up some 3’s. He just has to hit 2 of them, and I’m taking the value with PAOLO BANCHERO OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS (+100).

Over/Under

The Warriors are 6-4 O/U over their last 10, and the Magic are 3-7. The Over 230.5 cleared by a mile in the 121-115 meeting in Cali in January. This number has been trimmed quite a bit, and I’m feeling the OVER 218.5 (-105).

Analyzing Saturday’s Sacramento Kings at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Sacramento Kings (40-29) visit the Orlando Magic (42-28) Saturday evening. Tip from Kia Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kings vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Kings lead 1-0

Sacramento snapped a 2-game winning streak with a 109-102 loss against the Washington Wizards Thursday while failing to cover as an 11-point favorite. G De’Aaron Fox scored a team-high 25 points, and F Domantas Sabonis had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. In total, 5 Kings players scored in double figures with the team shooting 43% from the field in the loss.

Orlando has won 5 games in a row after handling the New Orleans Pelicans 121-106 Thursday and covering as a 2.5-point home underdog. G Jalen Suggs scored a game-high 22 points, and F Paolo Banchero had a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. 5 Magic players scored in double figures, and the team shot 54.7% from the field in the win.

Kings at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 109, Kings 105

Moneyline

PASS.

There are better odds on the Magic (-145) spread.

Against the spread

BET MAGIC -2.5 (-110).

Orlando is 8-2 straight up and ATS in its last 10 games while winning and covering in each of its last 5. It is 9-0 ATS in its last 9 games as a favorite and faces a Sacramento team that has failed to cover in 3 of its last 4.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 217.5 (-110).

While these teams are capable of scoring in droves, they are just 3-7 to the Over in their last 10 games. They’ve also been playing exceptional defense, with the Kings allowing 109 or fewer points in 5 of their last 6 games and the Magic allowing 106 or fewer in 8 of their last 10.

New Orleans Pelicans at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (42-26) make the 2nd stop on a 4-game road trip Thursday against the Orlando Magic (41-28). Tip-off at the Kia Center in Orlando is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting of 2023-24; Magic swept regular-season series in 2022-23 going 2-0 against the spread (ATS) with the Over-Under 1-1

The Pelicans have won and covered the past 3 games, while going 7-1 straight up (SU) and 6-1-1 ATS in the past 8 outings. The Under is 5-1 in the past 6 contests, while cashing at a 10-2 clip in the previous 12 games.

The Magic enter on a 4-game win and cover streak, while cashing the Under in 3 straight, 5 of the past 6, and 11 of the previous 13 outings.

Orlando has won and covered 3 in a row in this series, while going 8-2 SU/ATS across the past 10 meetings since Feb. 12, 2019. The Under is 2-1 in the past 3 in the series, but the Over is 6-2 across the previous 8 meetings.

Pelicans at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 112, Pelicans 109

Moneyline

The MAGIC (+122) is a strong play as short ‘dogs at home. Orlando has run this series recently, sweeping last season, while going 8-2 SU/ATS in the past 10 in the series since 2019.

And it’s a little curious why Orlando is a home ‘dog. The Magic stroll in on a 4-game heater, also covering each of those outings. True, the winning streak consists of wins over the lowly Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets and a pair of wins over the Toronto Raptors, so the schedule hasn’t exactly been challenging. But, again, Orlando has dominated this series, too.

Against the spread

The MAGIC +3 (-112) is worth playing at home catching the points, if you just can’t bring yourself to bet them straight up, but feel it will at least be a close game.

If you like Orlando, you should just bet it straight up, though.

Over/Under

OVER 207 (-110) might be the best play on the board.

While the Under has cashed in 3 in a row, and 5 of the past 6 for the boys from O-Town, the schedule has been rather easy. The Pelicans can score, racking up at least 112 points in 7 of the past 10 games. New Orleans plays good defense, and that will be a challenge, but it won’t take much for both of these teams to get to 208 or more points.

The Hornets have lost 2 in a row and are 2-9 in their last 11 games. They last played Saturday, a 109-98 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers as 10.5-point underdogs. Charlotte is in 13th place in the conference, 13 games out of the No. 10 seed for a play-in spot.

The Magic have won 3 straight games and 8 of their last 10. They are in 5th place in the Eastern Conference, just 1 game behind the New York Knicks for the No. 4 seed (and home court in the 1st round). They are coming off a 111-96 home win over the Toronto Raptors Sunday, covering the 11-point spread as favorites.

Hornets at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 113, Hornets 99

Moneyline

Orlando (-900) is great at home this season at 23-9 and has won 6 of its last 7 games at Kia Center.

The Hornets are 8-27 on the road this season and have lost 5 of their last 6 away games.

The Magic have beaten the Hornets in 4 straight meetings.

Add in the fact that the Hornets are banged up and the Magic are healthy, you should definitely not bet the Hornets for the upset.

But at -900 to bet the Magic, that isn’t worth the action.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Magic have beaten the Hornets by 12 and 13 points this season. They are 45-23 ATS this season and are a league-leading 15-3 ATS as home favorites.

Meanwhile, the Hornets are 12-22 ATS as road dogs, the 2nd-worst mark in the league.

BET MAGIC -12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

In 2 meetings this season, the totals were 247 and 190 points.

The Hornets have not reached 100 points in 3 of their last 4 games, but the Magic have averaged 112.7 points over their last 3 and are allowing an average of 103.8 points per game.

BET OVER 203.5 (-105).

Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Toronto Raptors (23-44) and Orlando Magic (39-28) play the 2nd game of a home-and-home Sunday. Tip-off from Kia Center is set for 6 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Magic lead 2-0

Orlando covered as a 7.5-point favorite with a 113-103 win over the Raptors in Friday’s meeting with the Under (217.5) cashing in downtown Toronto — and we predicted both the spread and total correctly. F Franz Wagner had a team-high 19 points for the Magic, who have won back-to-back games and 15 of 20.

The Raptors, on the other hand, are on 6-game skid and have covered in just 2 of those losses. Toronto’s last win was against the Charlotte Hornets March 3, the 1st game it played after F Scottie Barnes injured his hand against the Golden State Warriors March 1.

Orlando has covered in both meetings against Toronto this season, and the Over/Under (O/U) has gone 1-1.

Raptors at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 110, Raptors 104

Moneyline

The Magic (-750) are not worth a play at this price — especially in a spot where teams can be complacent after winning the 1st game of a home-and-home.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

I don’t have a spreadsheet to back this up, but I believe the scariest bets in the NBA are profitable long-term.

The Raptors may be on a 6-game skid (2-4 ATS), but this is too many points to give the losing team on the back end of a home-and-home. Toronto arguably outplayed the Magic for the 1st 2½ quarters Friday and actually led 69-67 with 4:26 remaining in the 3rd.

Expect the Magic to be complacent after Friday’s win — not trying to run up the score and win by 13+.

BET RAPTORS +12.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Under hit in Friday’s meeting, and neither team has looked great offensively lately. The Magic have gone 15 consecutive games without a 120-point performance, while the Raptors haven’t eclipsed the mark in 9 straight.

The Under has hit in 9 of the Magic’s last 11 games, and while I like the Raptors to keep it close, Orlando’s defense should still help the Under hit.

BET UNDER 216.5 (-110).

Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Indiana Pacers (35-29) take on the Orlando Magic (37-27) Sunday with tip-off from Kia Center set for 6 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pacers vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Magic lead 2-0

The Pacers come into this game having dropped 3 of 4 after a 113-111 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves Thursday. G Tyrese Haliburton had 23 points and 13 assists in his most productive game since Feb. 22. The Pacers sit in 8th place and are just 1/2 game out of 6th place, which would negate them having to participate in the play-in tournament.

The Magic are in 5th place — 2 full games ahead of Indiana. Orlando had a 5-game winning streak snapped with a 98-74 debacle at the New York Knicks Friday. They return home from that 3-game road trip, where they are 21-8 on the season. F Paolo Banchero has taken his game to another level averaging 25.6 PPG, 7.4 RPG and 5.2 assists over his last 5 games.

Pacers at Magic and predictions

Prediction

Magic 117, Pacers 111

Moneyline

The Magic won both meetings in Indiana by scores of 117-110 and 128-116. The Magic are great at home and 8-2 over their last 10. Indiana just hasn’t been a consistent run-and-gun team like they have been all season. They are averaging 119.1 PPG over their last 10, but when they reach 120, they are 5-1. When they do not, they’re 0-4. The Magic quietly possesses the 3rd-best defense in the league, allowing just 109.4 PPG.

Take the MAGIC -135 or look to the cheaper option on the spread.

Against the spread

The Magic have won each game against Indiana, on the road, by at least 7 points. The spread dropped down from 2.5 to 1.5 Sunday morning, and I’m all about the MAGIC -1.5 (-115) and would consider the ALTERNATE MAGIC -3.5 (+115).

Over/Under

This total jumped up a point Sunday morning, but I felt it was a little mispriced anyway. Both teams are 3-7 O/U over the last 10, but both matchups in Indiana cleared this number. Even through its struggles, Indiana is still averaging 119 of the 225 needed to clear this number over its last 10.

Take the OVER 224.5 (-105).
