Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (0-1) visit State Farm Arena Friday to take on the Atlanta Hawks (1-0). Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Hawks odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic come into this game following a 113-109 loss at the Detroit Pistons as 3.5-point underdogs and have yet to play a game at home. Orlando got out to a quick double-digit lead but couldn’t withstand a second- and third-quarter push from Detroit.

No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero is already the Magic’s best player, having scored 27 points in his debut. He chipped in 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 35 minutes as well.

The Hawks enter fresh off a 117-107 home win over the Houston Rockets as 10.5-point favorites. Atlanta had 4 players score 20 or more points with G Trae Young having a game-high 13 assists to go along with his 23 points.

G Dejounte Murray had 20 points and 11 assists in his Hawks debut. Also notable, big man F/C Onyeka Okongwu chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.

Magic at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 115, Magic 105

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no real value here with the Hawks (-500) as the clear favorite and the better team — the risk isn’t worth the reward.

Against the spread

LEAN HAWKS -9.5 (-105).

Atlanta is simply the better team. Murray helps cover many of its defensive flaws which were so often the destructive point a season ago. He appears to be the perfect fit with Young.

Banchero and the Magic are still a young team, and although they showed promise in spurts against Detroit, they couldn’t put it together for a full 48 despite shooting more efficiently and winning the rebounding battle.

Young and the Hawks have a much higher offensive ceiling. While the sample size is small, Orlando is 0-1 ATS as a road dog.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-112).

The Magic shot 48.8% from the field Wednesday and still only put up 109 points. They’ll be taking on a team with more size and quickness Friday.

The Hawks sit 7th in the league in defensive rating after 1 game. Their pace is high, but that’s the style of play Houston wanted to play at. The Magic will slow it down as they sit 18th in pace.

Orlando doesn’t have the scoring to consistently dominate offensively, and that will loom large on the total in this game. The Magic got just 17 points from their bench in their opener.

Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Orlando Magic to Little Caesars Arena Wednesday as both squads open their seasons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Pistons odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Both the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons have been doing their best to rebuild through the draft. The Magic were awarded the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and added Duke F Paolo Banchero, who is expected to start Wednesday.

Orlando finished last in the Eastern Conference last season with just 22 wins. The 5th overall pick from 2021, G Jalen Suggs, is expected to have a larger role on this roster as well.

Detroit is expecting to have a much better season this year with 2021 No. 1 pick G Cade Cunningham entering his 2nd season. G Jaden Ivey was the team’s 1st-round pick, the 5th overall selection in 2022.

Sharpshooter F Saddiq Bey should have a large role offensively along with hustle-minded big man C Isaiah Stewart, who is expected to start at the 5. Detroit finished 14th in the Eastern Conference last season.

Magic at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 110, Magic 104

Moneyline

PASS.

I like Detroit here, but I wouldn’t play the moneyline value with the juice on it. Take the points.

Against the spread

BET PISTONS -3.5 (-110).

The Pistons should have the best player on the court in Cunningham with Isaac out for the Magic. Orlando doesn’t have much efficient playmaking, and its size could be a problem against Stewart as well.

The next generation of Detroit players is more primed for instant success with Cunningham averaging 21 points per game on 45.2% shooting over his final 21 games last season.

Orlando has Suggs, G Cole Anthony and F Franz Wagner who are solid options, but the size and skill along with the home-court edge should give value to Detroit.

Detroit was 22-18-1 against the spread (ATS) at home last season.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 217.5 (-110).

There are going to be many young players in this game, and while that could result in extra opportunities, there’s a good chance inefficient offense is also the result.

These teams ranked in the bottom 3 in offensive rating last season, and there wasn’t much improvement to either roster outside of rookies who will be making their first NBA start.

Expect inefficient basketball here.

Orlando Magic at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Orlando Magic at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (21-59) visit the Spectrum Center Thursday to take on the Charlotte Hornets (40-39). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic come into their second-to-last game of the season after taking down the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-115 Tuesday.

While they covered at home vs. the Cavs, Orlando is just 3-8 against the spread (ATS) in its last 11 games. It will also be down its leading scorer, G Cole Anthony, and leading rebounder, C Wendell Carter Jr.

Although the Hornets have already locked up the last play-in spot in the Eastern Conference, Charlotte still has something to play for as 2 wins and 2 Atlanta Hawks losses would propel the Hornets into the No. 9 seed.

Charlotte is 5-5 ATS in its last 10. It’s coming off a 29-point loss to the Miami Heat on the road. While 3-3 ATS in their last 6 games, the Hornets have lost 2 straight. They rank 5th in points per game.

A -1100 money line favorite against a team without most of its key players screams pass.

Against the spread

BET the HORNETS -12.5 (-115).

Charlotte is going to have its playmakers take the court, which is more than Orlando can say. Players like PG LaMelo Ball and F Miles Bridges should be able to push the pace and extend a lead at home.

Charlotte has given up 144 points in both its last 2 games. That’s a problem, but it’s not one Orlando, which ranks 29th in points per game, should be able to exploit.

The Hornets rank 3rd in the NBA in pace while the Magic sit 24th in turnover rate. Combine those two, and Charlotte should be able get out in transition, where it thrives, often.

The motivation is there for Charlotte, and at home, it should be able to run and gun on Orlando.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight lean to the Over 229.5 (-115).

The Hornets have gone over the projected total in 3 straight games and play at one of the fastest paces in the NBA.

With Orlando’s key big man out, getting easy looks at the rim should be even  easier. The Magic have gone Over in 4 of their last 7. Orlando is 40-39-1 O/U this season while the Hornets are 39-39-1 O/U.

Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (44-32) visit Amway Center Friday to take on the Orlando Magic (20-57). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Raptors vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Raptors are safe from the play-in tournament for now, but they lead the Cleveland Cavaliers by just 2.5 games, so they’ll have to win a few down the stretch to ensure it stays that way.

Toronto is coming off a 125-102 home victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday. It has covered nine of its last 12 games and is 44-32 against the spread (ATS) this season. The Raptors are led by F Pascal Siakam, who averages 22.4 points per game.

The Magic are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and should be in all-out tank mode. Orlando has lost four straight games and failed to cover three of those outings.

It is just 2-6 ATS over its last eight contests and is 35-42 ATS on the season. The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who is averaging a team-high 16.7 points and 5.8 assists per game.

Raptors at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 116, Magic 103

Money line

PASS.

A -550 money line is never worth any type of wager, and on the other hand, the Magic are just 10-27 at home this season and taking on a playoff-caliber opponent. I’ll pass on predicting the upset.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

BET the RAPTORS -9.5 (-107).

The Raptors are a very difficult opponent for a plethora of reasons. They have size, length, shooting, leadership, and effort — a combination that’s tough to defeat.

Carter Jr. missed Orlando’s most recent game, Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, and if he’s unable to go Friday it would be down its leading rebounder. The Magic may get abused on the glass against a Raptors team that is second in offensive rebounding rate.

Toronto is also just the hotter team right now, having covered nine of its last 12 games while Orlando is 1-3 ATS over its last four outings.

The Raptors rank third in points off turnovers while the Magic sit fifth in the league in most turnovers, averaging 14.6 per game. Ball security is going to be an important factor that sides with Toronto.

Lastly, Orlando is 10-20 ATS as a home underdog while Toronto is 9-3 ATS as a road favorite — the second-best record in the league for that situation.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight lean to the Over 216.5 (-110).

I love the Raptors and only somewhat favor the Over.

Orlando’s offense is just far too inconsistent for this to be a confirmed play. However, it is 3-1 O/U in its last four games and 6-3 O/U in its last nine. The Magic are 16-14 O/U as a home underdog.

While the Raptors’ defense ranks ninth in opponents’ points per game, they are just 17th in opponents’ field goal percentage which is where the Magic struggle.

Overall, the strong play is to Toronto’s spread, but I would favor the Over here.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (20-55) visit to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Monday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (41-33). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are coming into this game following a 4-point overtime loss to Sacramento. Orlando is 2-2 in its last 4 games yet is just 1-5 against the spread (ATS) over its last 6.

The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who has averaged 16.9 points and 5.9 assists per game this season. Orlando ranks 29th in points per game. Its one saving grace is it sits 16th in opponents’ field goal percentage.

As for the Cavaliers, they’ll be without star C Jarrett Allen. Cleveland is led by G Darius Garland, who controls most of the offense and averages 21.5 points and 8.6 assists per game.

The Cavaliers are 39-32-3 ATS on the season, the sixth-best covering rate in the NBA, but haven’t covered in their last 4 games. They’re coming off a 4-point home loss to Chicago.

Magic at Cavaliers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 114, Magic 107

Money line

PASS.

Either way you look at this, this money line play has little value. Orlando is 10-28 on the road this season while Cleveland is 23-14 at home. That said, the -550 price tag for the favorite is unplayable, as is +400 for the Magic.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN to MAGIC +9.5 (-107).

The Cavaliers without Allen just aren’t the elite, Eastern Conference contenders many thought they could be. Cleveland is just 3-7-1 ATS over its last 10.

The Cavs are 6-12 straight up in games that Allen doesn’t play in. He’s a crucial part of this team’s defensive identity.

As for Orlando, it is 20-16 ATS as a road underdog. Cleveland ranks 29th in turnover rate and 19th in defensive rebounding rate. The absence of Allen hurts them further in both areas.

I expect the Cavs to continue struggling against a Magic team that is 5-5 ATS over their last 10.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 213.5 (-115).

If there’s something both teams have been good at recently, it’s hitting over the projected total. The fact that Allen is out should also bode well for more points as he’s among the best defensive centers in the NBA.

The Magic are 38-36-1 O/U this season and 5-2 O/U over their last 10. As for Cleveland, it has gone over the projected total in 6 of its last 7. It is 8-2 O/U in its last 10.

The Cavs defense now ranks 3rd in opponents’ points per game, allowing 105. The Magic allows around 112.

With Allen out, the Magic should be able to score in the paint easier, especially considering Cleveland is already a poor rebounding team. The OVER 213.5 (-115) is the best bet in this game.

Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (20-53) visit Paycom Center Wednesday to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (20-52). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Thunder odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are on a 2-game win streak, coming off a home win over the Warriors as 7.5-point home underdogs.

Orlando is 34-39 against the spread (ATS) this season, but just 10-27 on the road. The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who averages 16.9 points and 5.7 assists per game.

Oklahoma City is among the best covering teams in the league at 43-25-4 ATS. They have covered 5 of their last 6 and 4 straight.

However, the Thunder are currently on a 10-game losing streak, having covered 6 of those games. OKC is led by G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averages 24.5 points per game. He’s listed as questionable.

[tipico]

Magic at Thunder odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 110, Magic 106

Money line

BET the THUNDER +105.

With a spread at just 1.5, it’s basically a pick ’em, and assuming SGA takes the court, I’ll side with the home team.

Again, given his importance to the offense, wait until SGA’s availability is announced. He did play against Boston on Monday though, so there should be hope that’s more so on the probable side.

Orlando is just 6-9 ATS with no rest and just 1-12 straight up. It won Tuesday night 94-90 against the Warriors in Orlando.

Both teams are among the worst in the league at shooting the ball. However, the Thunder go from 41.8% on the road to 43.4% shooting at home while the Magic are worse on the road.

Considering OKC is 42-24-4 as an underdog and the money line provides plus-money value as compared to the 1.5-point spread, I’ll take the home side as their shooting and SGA’s craftiness should help them come out on top.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

PASS.

Plus-money value over a 1.5-point spread is how I would suggest playing this.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 220.5 (-110).

Orlando nor its opponent have reached even 95 points in its last 2 games. The Magic and Thunder rank 29th and 30th in points per game respectively while they are 20th and 15th in opponents points per game.

Also, neither is over .500 on the total this season with Orlando at 36-36-1 O/U and the Thunder at 34-36-2 O/U. Considering the strengths of the teams and their lacking shooting, I’ll take the Under.

Analyzing Tuesday’s Golden State Warriors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Golden State Warriors (47-24) kick off a five-game road trip Tuesday when they face the Orlando Magic (19-53). Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Amway Center. Below, we look at the Warriors vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are tied for the fewest wins in the Eastern Conference but won their last game 90-85 at home over the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday. Orlando is 6-6 in its last 12 games.

Warriors at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 111, Magic 100

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The Magic have nine home wins, tied for the fewest in the NBA. They are playing better as of late but have lost three of the first five games of their homestand. They are not a good bet.

The Warriors are struggling a bit since Curry got hurt but only three of their last 11 losses were to teams with a losing record.

The Magic don’t have the firepower to keep up with a Curry-less Warriors and the price to bet Golden State doesn’t make sense unless you add it to a parlay bet.

Against the spread

The Warriors are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games but have failed to cover the spread in two straight outings. They covered it in five straight before that. They are 15-16-2 ATS on the road this season.

The Magic are only 12-23 ATS at home this season. They also are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games but have failed to cover the spread in three straight games.

Orlando has the third-lowest scoring offense in the league. The Warriors have the third-best defensive rating in the league.

Take the WARRIORS -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Warriors have averaged 98 points in their last two games, but averaged 117.2 per game over an 11-game stretch prior.

The Magic had a five-game stretch when they averaged 113.6 points per game before their 90-85 win Sunday. They have failed to reach 100 points in three of their last eight games.

Orlando scored just 95 points in a road 1oss to the Warriors when the teams met Dec. 6.

Take UNDER 214.5 (-108).

Pistons at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 108, Pistons 103

Money line

The home team has won the three previous meetings this season between the two teams. The Magic beat the Pistons 119-113 at home on Jan. 28.

The Magic are the league’s worst home team at 8-25, but the Pistons’ seven road wins are tied with the Houston Rockets for fewest in the NBA.

The Magic are 3-5 in their last eight home games.

I LEAN MAGIC (-140).

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

Both teams have been much better against the spread than in outright wins.

The Pistons are 37-32 ATS overall and 18-17 ATS on the road. They have covered the spread in nine of their last 10 games.

The Magic are 33-37 ATS overall, but only 12-21 ATS at home. They are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games and have covered the spread in four of their last five games.

With the small line, I LEAN MAGIC -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The first two matchups between the Pistons and Magic finished with totals of 213 and 189. Those were in Detroit. In the last matchup in Orlando, it was 222.

Only two of the Pistons’ last seven games have had more than 218 points while the last three for the Magic and four of the last six have had more than 218.

These are two of the three lowest-scoring teams in the NBA.

Take UNDER 218.5 (-108).

Brooklyn Nets at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (35-33) go for their fourth straight win Tuesday as they visit the Orlando Magic (18-51). Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET at Amway Center. Below, we look at the Nets vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nets, after losing four games in a row, are riding a three-game winning streak. PG Kyrie Irving, only eligible to play in road games (excluding Toronto), averaged 30.9 points per game in his last seven appearances. The Nets are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, which would make them part of the Play-In Tournament to determine the final two seeds of the conference. They are four games behind the sixth-place Cleveland Cavaliers with 14 games left on the schedule.

The Magic are in last place in the East and are tied for the second-fewest wins in the NBA. However, they have won two of their last three games and are 5-4 in their last nine.

Nets at Magic odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:13 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nets -540 (bet $540 to win $100) | Magic +380 (bet $100 to win $380)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Nets -10.5 (-107) | Magic +10.5 (-115)

Nets at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 119, Magic 106

Money line

PASS.

The Magic have the worst home record in the NBA at 8-24 and the Nets are playing well right now. Betting the Magic (+380) to win is just a bad bet and betting the Nets (-540) isn’t worth the price.

The only way to bet the Nets on the money line to make any sense is to include it in a parlay bet.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Nets have covered the spread four times in their last 10 games but are 20-15-1 ATS on the road.

However, the Magic are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games and have covered the spread in four consecutive games. They are only 12-20 ATS at home this season.

The streak of covering the spread ends for the Magic Tuesday. Take the NETS -10.5 (-107).

Over/Under

The last six games for the Magic have not gone Over 230 points, as have eight of the last nine.

For the Nets, only two of the last seven have had totals of more than 230.

Take UNDER 230.5 (-107).

Phoenix Suns at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Phoenix Suns at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (51-13) continue their three-game Eastern Conference road trip with a stop in Florida to face the Orlando Magic (16-49) Tuesday night. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET at Amway Center. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Suns continue to have the best record in the NBA, but they are 2-3 in their five games since the All-Star break. They are coming off a 10-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday in a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals, but the Suns were without three of their top six players, including guards Devin Booker and Chris Paul. They have an eight-game lead over the second-place Memphis Grizzlies.

The Magic are in last place in the Eastern Conference but have won three of five games since the All-Star break. They last played Saturday, suffering a 124-96 loss to the Grizzlies.

Suns at Magic odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Suns -300 (bet $300 to win $100) | Magic +230 (bet $100 to win $230)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Suns -6.5 (-115) | Magic +6.5 (-107)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 222.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Suns at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 113, Magic 102

Money line

PASS on the money line unless you are including it in a parlay. The Suns are the league’s No. 1 road team at 23-6. The Magic are the league’s worst home team at 7-22. That’s a bad combination.

And while the Suns are shorthanded, they are one of the deepest teams in the league, so there is no shortage of firepower. The Suns beat the Magic at home 132-105 Feb. 12.

As for the Magic’s recent wins, two of three came against the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers, two of the league’s worst teams this season.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Suns have 51 wins straight-up wins this season but are 34-30 ATS on the season. They have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games. However, they are a fantastic bet on the road at 18-11 ATS this season away from home.

The Magic are 29-36 ATS this season but 9-20 ATS at home. And in their last 10 games, they have only covered the spread once in a loss.

Take the SUNS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Magic average only 103.8 points per game this season, the third-lowest average in the league. They have not reached 100 points in their last two games, averaging 96.5 points.

In their matchup last month in Phoenix, the game had 237 points. However, the Suns are 20-15 O/U at home this season, while they are 12-16-1 O/U on the road.

Phoenix plays with a faster pace with Cameron Payne at the point, but ultimately Orlando won’t score enough to help push the total.

Take UNDER 222.5 (-107).
