Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 100, Magic 99

Moneyline

The Cavaliers (-150) are 3-0 at home in this series, but it’s hard to beat NBA sides when you’re laying -150.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

Even when the Magic are losing, they’re keeping games close. Orlando is a young team playing with house money and should be able to take advantage of all the pressure that Cleveland is facing, especially since the Magic have been exceeding expectations lately.

BET MAGIC +3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Unders have gone 4-2 in the series, but this total is set too low. It opened at 199 Friday night and has moved too far toward the Under.

LEAN OVER 195.5 (-105).

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers meet for Game 5 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 1st-round series Tuesday. The series is tied 2-2. Tip-off from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Playoff series: Tied 2-2

The Cavaliers opened the series with a pair of wins and covers in Cleveland, but the Magic trounced the Cavs in 2 meetings at Kia Center in Orlando.

Cleveland won 97-83 in Game 1 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to cover a 5.5-point number and 96-86 April 22 in Game 2, also as a 5.5-point favorite.

Orlando belted Cleveland 121-83 in Game 3, handing the Cavs their worst-ever playoff defeat as the Over (202) connected. It wasn’t much better for coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s team, as the Magic hammered the Cavs 112-89 in Game 4 to level the series.

Cleveland has won and covered 3 of the past 4 meetings at home, including Games 1 and 2. The Under is 3-1 in the first 4 games of this playoff series.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 104, Cavaliers 101

Moneyline

The MAGIC (+165) didn’t have a lot of success in the first 2 games in Cleveland, but they dominated the 2 battles in Central Florida. Orlando is a tremendous value at this price.

It’s hard to see how the Cavaliers (-200) will be able to regroup after a pair of lopsided losses, and Cleveland is way overpriced, as you need to risk 2 times your potential return on a team which has lost consecutive games by 30.5 points per game.

Against the spread

If you’re a little more on the conservative side and just can’t play the MAGIC +4.5 (-105) straight up, take the points.

There is risk here, as the Cavaliers -4.5 (-115) have covered the past 3 as single-digit favorites at home, but it’s hard to ignore their pathetic effort in the past 2 outings.

Over/Under

OVER 201.5 (-110) is worth a look. We had a couple of low-scoring efforts in Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland, but the Magic certainly solved their offensive woes in the pair of games down in Orlando. The Magic are brimming with confidence and should easily get to triple-digits again.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers meet Monday in the 2nd game of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference 1st-round series. Tip-off from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is set for 7 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers lead the series 1-0 after picking up a 97-83 win over the Magic on Saturday, covering as a 5.5-point home favorite. G Donovan Mitchell dropped 30 points as the Cavs had 4 players score in double figures. The Cavaliers outrebounded the Magic 54-40.

Orlando had trouble scoring and shot only 32.6% from the field and 21.6% (8-for-37) from deep. The Magic also had 4 players combine for 72 minutes and go a combined 0-for-19 from the field.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 105, Magic 98

Moneyline

PASS.

I expect the Cavs to pick up the win, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as -225 favorites. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -5.5 (-110).

Cleveland has covered the spread in 2 of its last 3 games. They are 2-1 ATS in the last 3 matchups with Orlando and 6-3-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The Cavs are also 4-1 ATS in the last 5 games against the Magic played in Cleveland.

I trust Cleveland’s offense more than Orlando’s and Cleveland’s size advantage means the Cavs should win the rebounding battle every game, which will help them cover the spread.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 202.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in 2 of Cleveland’s last 3 home games and 3 of the last 5. For Orlando, the Over is 5-1 in its last 6 road games. The Over has also hit in 2 of the last 3 Orlando-Cleveland matchups overall and is 2-1 in the last 3 meetings in Cleveland.

This is only a lean because both teams are stout defensively, meaning that betting the Over is always a risk. Game 1 had only 180 points.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers open the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs when they meet in Game 1 of a best-of-7 series at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Regular season series: Tied 2-2

The Cavaliers struggled down the home stretch of the season and almost failed to earn home-court advantage in the 1st round, losing 4 of their last 6 games. They ended 48-34 straight up and 38-44 against the spread (ATS). Cleveland finished 18-21-1 ATS at home. It is led by G Donovan Mitchell, who averaged 26.6 points per game during the regular season.

The Magic closed the season by beating the Milwaukee Bucks 113-88 at home Sunday, covering as 6-point favorites. They also lost 4 of their last 6 games, covering in just 2 of them. Orlando finished the season 47-35 and 51-31 ATS, the best ATS record in the NBA. It was just 23-18 ATS at home.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 107, Magic 100

Moneyline

PASS.

Orlando was the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference yet just 18-23 on the road. It made its fortress at home, not on the road, making it not worth a play as a plus-money underdog.

On the other side, the Cavs (-198) are too expensive here.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -4.5 (-112).

The Cavs were 1-1 straight up and ATS against the Magic at home this season, but they were missing Mitchell in the lone home game they failed to cover. He will be active Saturday.

Cleveland is the more experienced side, making the playoffs last season as well, while this is the 1st time Orlando has made the playoffs in the last 4 seasons. With many young players, the Magic could struggle. They have also failed to cover in 4 straight road games.

Back CAVALIERS -4.5 (-112).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 207.5 (-110).

The Magic were 5-7 O/U in their last 12 games and 37-45 O/U on the season. The Cavaliers were 3-3 O/U in their last 6 and 40-41-1 O/U on the season.

Both teams have strong defenses with the Magic ending 3rd in defensive rating and the Cavaliers finishing 7th. Neither team finished in the top half of the league in offensive rating either.

Put it all together, and back UNDER 207.5 (-110).

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (5-17) visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Friday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (14-8). Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers destroyed Philadelphia 113-85 Wednesday, covering as 3.5-point home favorites. Cleveland was 0-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 3 games before Wednesday’s victory and is 12-8-2 ATS on the season.

They’re led by offseason addition, G Donovan Mitchell. He is averaging 28.4 points per game and shooting 49.0% from the field. C Jarrett Allen, their 4th-leading scorer (13.5), is expected to miss Friday’s action.

Orlando has been decimated by injuries and is 9-12-1 ATS on the season. It is just 1-9 straight up on the road as well and is coming off a brutal 125-108 road loss to the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday.

The Magic are 1-0 ATS in the lone game in which they were double-figure underdogs (11.5), a 109-102 road loss to the Brooklyn Nets Monday. Orlando is led by 2022 No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 22.7 points per game.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 113, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

The Magic are 1-9 straight up on the road, and Cleveland is 9-1 straight up at home. While these values are fair, they are unplayable. Look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -10.5 (-105).

While the spread seems large, the Magic are on the road and coming off a game in which they allowed a combined 57 points to Atlanta guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

The combination of Mitchell and G Darius Garland is just as lethal. Combine F Evan Mobley, who should be able to defend Banchero as well as anyone in the NBA, and the Cavaliers are a strong play.

Orlando is just 1-4 ATS over its last 5 games and Cleveland is 4-2-1 over its last 7. The Cavs are also 8-1-1 ATS at home.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 216.5 (-105).

The Cavaliers have gone Under in 6 of their last 7 games. They rank 29th in terms of pace while Orlando is 23rd.

Couple that with the Magic’s offense which has the 6th-worst offensive rating, and scoring may be difficult for the road squad. Neither team ranks in the top 15 in offensive rebounding either, so extra opportunities may be rare.

Put it all together with the fact that both teams rank in the bottom 10 in turnover rate yet neither will want to run, and the UNDER 216.5 (-110) is a strong play here.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (0-4) will square off against the Cleveland Cavaliers (2-1) on Wednesday at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic lost 115-102 Monday to the New York Knicks, unable to cover the +7.5-point spread on the road. Orlando has gotten plenty of contributions from rookie F Paolo Banchero already with 22.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game in the first 4 games of the season.

The Cavaliers have strung together 2 straight wins, including a 117-107 overtime win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday, covering as 3.5-point favorites at home. Cleveland has to like the production they’ve gotten from G Donovan Mitchell thus far as he’s posted 33.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals per game on 49.3% shooting from the field.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 111, Magic 101

Moneyline

Considering that the Cavaliers are heavily favored at home, AVOID the moneyline in this game. The current odds for Cleveland to beat Orlando aren’t worth taking straight up given the minimal return you’ll receive if the Cavaliers win.

Against the spread

CAVALIERS -7.5 (-112) is enticing with how good Cleveland has looked in its first 3 games, even with Garland sidelined with an eye injury. On the other hand, the Magic have a young roster that is still getting acclimated to playing together this season.

Over/Under

While the Magic are 16th in pace to begin the season, the Cavaliers are playing at the 2nd-slowest pace in the NBA with Garland not in the lineup. With Cleveland having the 4th-best defensive rating, UNDER 216.5 (-108) looks the ideal bet, especially with Orlando having the 7th-worst offensive rating.

The Under is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings between the Magic and the Cavaliers when the game is in Cleveland. The Under is also 11-3 in the last 14 overall meetings between the Magic and the Cavaliers.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (20-55) visit to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Monday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (41-33). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are coming into this game following a 4-point overtime loss to Sacramento. Orlando is 2-2 in its last 4 games yet is just 1-5 against the spread (ATS) over its last 6.

The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who has averaged 16.9 points and 5.9 assists per game this season. Orlando ranks 29th in points per game. Its one saving grace is it sits 16th in opponents’ field goal percentage.

As for the Cavaliers, they’ll be without star C Jarrett Allen. Cleveland is led by G Darius Garland, who controls most of the offense and averages 21.5 points and 8.6 assists per game.

The Cavaliers are 39-32-3 ATS on the season, the sixth-best covering rate in the NBA, but haven’t covered in their last 4 games. They’re coming off a 4-point home loss to Chicago.

Magic at Cavaliers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 114, Magic 107

Money line

PASS.

Either way you look at this, this money line play has little value. Orlando is 10-28 on the road this season while Cleveland is 23-14 at home. That said, the -550 price tag for the favorite is unplayable, as is +400 for the Magic.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN to MAGIC +9.5 (-107).

The Cavaliers without Allen just aren’t the elite, Eastern Conference contenders many thought they could be. Cleveland is just 3-7-1 ATS over its last 10.

The Cavs are 6-12 straight up in games that Allen doesn’t play in. He’s a crucial part of this team’s defensive identity.

As for Orlando, it is 20-16 ATS as a road underdog. Cleveland ranks 29th in turnover rate and 19th in defensive rebounding rate. The absence of Allen hurts them further in both areas.

I expect the Cavs to continue struggling against a Magic team that is 5-5 ATS over their last 10.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 213.5 (-115).

If there’s something both teams have been good at recently, it’s hitting over the projected total. The fact that Allen is out should also bode well for more points as he’s among the best defensive centers in the NBA.

The Magic are 38-36-1 O/U this season and 5-2 O/U over their last 10. As for Cleveland, it has gone over the projected total in 6 of its last 7. It is 8-2 O/U in its last 10.

The Cavs defense now ranks 3rd in opponents’ points per game, allowing 105. The Magic allows around 112.

With Allen out, the Magic should be able to score in the paint easier, especially considering Cleveland is already a poor rebounding team. The OVER 213.5 (-115) is the best bet in this game.

Magic at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 107, Magic 103

Money line (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-140) are worth a look at home against the skidding Magic (+115). Cleveland isn’t exactly lighting the world afire, but Orlando is also struggling and the Cavs are at home.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS -2 (-110) are a decent play, as the Magic +2 (-110) are 0-5-1 ATS across the past six outings. Rather than playing the Cavs straight up, simply lay the bucket and enjoy.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 211.5 (-110) is a strong play in this battle between the dregs of the Eastern Conference. The Under has cashed in nine of the past 10 meetings in this series, while going 4-1 in the past five battles in Cleveland.

The Under is also 6-1 in Orlando’s past seven against teams with a losing record, while the Under is 5-2-1 in Cleveland’s past eight.
