BREAKING: 4-star DL Terrance Green commits to Oregon Ducks

Blue-chip addition for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. 4-star DL Terrance Green announced his commitment to Oregon.

The Oregon Ducks added another blue-chip player to the 2023 recruiting class on Monday, picking up a commitment from 4-star defensive lineman Terrance Green.

Green, rated as the No. 40 DL in the 2023 class, is Oregon’s first blue-chip player on the defensive line in this recruiting cycle for the Ducks.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 265-pounds, Green is rated as the No. 300 overall player in the class, per 247Sports. He will join 3-star Tevita Pome’e and 3-star Teitum Tuioti on the DL in this class.

The commitment does not come as a major surprise for the Ducks, who have been the front-runners in his commitment for a while now, with several Crystal Ball predictions for his to choose Oregon. Now, after a successful Saturday Night Live recruiting event, the Ducks should prepare for more incoming commitments as they ramp up for the start of the 2022 season.

Oregon is now massive favorite to land 5-star PF Kwame Evans; commitment coming August 2

5-star PF Kwame Evans is scheduled to announce his commitment on Tuesday. The Ducks are now the heavy favorite to get him.

Things in the college basketball recruiting world happen quickly.

It was just over a month ago that the Oregon Ducks’ No. 2 ranked recruiting class suffered a gut punch after 5-star SF Mookie Cook, the No. 4 ranked player in the 2023 class, announced his de-commitment from the Ducks.

Now, in the past 24 hours, not only have the Ducks picked up several predictions for Cook to choose Oregon once again, but they are also the overwhelming favorites to land 5-star PF Kwame Evans, the No. 7 ranked player in the class.

According to three analysts on 247Sports, plus one analyst from On3, Evans is overwhelmingly predicted to commit to the Ducks for his college ball. Anyone who followed the Mookie Cook recruitment shouldn’t see this as a surprise if we are to believe that Cook is going to come back to Oregon as well. After he originally committed to the Ducks, he was openly recruiting his good friend and former teammate to come play with him in Eugene.

So could we see the two pair up a year from now? It’s seeming incredibly likely. Evans has set a commitment date for August 2nd, so we will find out soon.

Ducks back in the running to land elite 5-star SF following de-commitment

Just over a month ago, 5-star SF Mookie Cook de-committed from Oregon. He’s now being predicted to land with the Ducks once again.

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball program took a huge hit earlier this summer when 5-star small forward Mookie Cook — who had previously committed to Dana Altman’s team — announced that he would open up his recruitment and look at other schools once again.

What was a No. 2 ranked Oregon 2023 recruiting class tanked instantly.

However, there has been some movement on that front. According to 247Sports, Cook picked up a Crystal Ball prediction that once again has the Ducks as the landing spot for the 5-star player who ranks as the No. 4 play in the 2023 class. The prediction came from Travis Branham, a National Basketball Analyst from 247Sports.

Branham also put in a prediction for Oregon to land 5-star PF Kwame Evans on the same day.

Does this mean that Altman was able to turn things around and convince this elite talent to reconsider the Ducks after losing him? It may be too early to tell, but it’s certainly a major development after a tough recruiting stretch for Oregon.

Alex Forsyth offers advice to 5-star Oregon OT Josh Conerly Jr.

Josh Conerly comes to Oregon as the highest-rated OT in Oregon history. Despite lofty expectations and comparisons, veteran Alex Forsyth offers sage advice.

Life as a 5-star recruit is sometimes a blessing and a curse. The opportunities presented to you are often endless, with almost any school in the nation falling over themselves trying to get you to commit to their school. However, once you decide which team you’re going to play for, the expectations are extremely high. Even a slight underperformance will leave you exposed to ridicule and fan aggravation.

For Oregon’s freshman offensive tackle Josh Conerly, that has to be something that’s not far from mind. After signing with the Ducks this spring, Conerly became the highest-rated OT in school history, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 player at his position in the country. With that ranking, some are expecting him to start from day one, and have an instant impact on the offensive line.

Veteran center Alex Forsyth wants to push back on those expectations.

“It takes a while to get good at football or to be like ready,” Forsyth said, via Duck Territory’s Erik Skopil. “It’s not their fault that they’re a five-star. It’s not their fault that they were highly ranked. So I think sometimes it kind of sucks for the kids.”

As the new highest-ranked OT in Oregon history, Conerly is drawing immediate comparisons to Penei Sewell, arguably the best OT to ever play for the Ducks. Sewell — who was the No. 1 OT in Oregon history at the time of his commitment — started as a freshman, won the Outland Trophy as a sophomore, and was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the No. 7 overall pick in 2021.

“I hate comparing players. You can never try to be somebody else because then you’re gonna lose sight of who you are and what makes you special,” Forsyth said. “Penei did unique things that I can never do and 99.9-percent of football players can never do. So it’s hard to compare anybody to him and I just think for a young player, it’s unfair to make comparisons and be like, ‘Oh, he’s like that guy.'”

Conerly will have an uphill battle to find a starting spot on the Oregon O-line, considering that the Ducks bring back 5 starting linemen from last season. If he can’t crack the starting lineup, that shouldn’t be viewed as a detriment to the freshman phenom, though. He may be ranked higher than Sewell was, but that doesn’t mean his career trajectory needs to be compared to the Oregon legend’s every step of the way.

“Everybody is their own unique player,” Forsyth said. “They do things better than some and some not as good as others but that’s what makes players special and unique to themselves.”

Ducks become overwhelming favorites to land blue-chip WR out of Arizona

After a standout performance at Oregon’s Saturday Night Live, the Ducks offered 4-star WR Ja’Kobi Lane. Now they’re the heavy favorites for his commitment.

It didn’t take long for the Oregon Ducks to become the front runners in the recruitment for 4-star wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane. After the blue-chip prospect showed out and had a great performance at Oregon’s Saturday Night Live camp, the Ducks extended an offer.

From there, the Crystal Ball predictions started flooding in.

According to a total of 6 predictions, all logged within the past 24 hours, Oregon is an overwhelming favorite to land Lane, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 49 WR and No. 371 overall player in the 2023 class.

Lane has a close relationship with Ducks freshman WR Kyler Kasper, who traveled with him to Eugene this weekend ahead of his first season with the Ducks. There is no telling when Lane might make his commitment, but Duck fans should feel confident about him choosing to come to Eugene.

Top-10 safety Kylin Jackson sets commitment date with Oregon in the mix

The Oregon Ducks are in the mix to land 4-star Kylin Jackson, the No. 10 S in the 2023 class.

The Oregon Ducks have done a great job recruiting the defensive secondary under this new coaching staff, and the 2023 recruiting class could get even better over the coming weeks. One of the top safeties in the nation announced his commitment date.

Four-star Kylin Jackson, the 10th-ranked safety in the 2023 class, plans to announce his decision on Aug. 8. He is down to four schools. The Ducks are in the running alongside the Michigan Wolverines, Texas A&M Aggies and LSU Tigers.

According to 247Sports, Jackson is the No. 167 player overall in the class. He does not have any crystal ball predictions.

Former Oregon commit picked to win Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award in 2022

This recruiting flip certainly hurt the Ducks after Mario Cristobal left. Now the player is being picked to win the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award.

Any person who has seen a relationship end in their life likely knows the urge to check back in on that person and see how they’re doing since the separation.

For fans of the Oregon Ducks, the “one that got away” could very well be four-star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, the fifth-ranked WR in the 2022 recruiting class. McMillan originally committed to the Ducks, but after the departure of Mario Cristobal and the hiring of Dan Lanning, he flipped his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats.

Now Oregon fans might feel the urge to take a look at Tucson and see how McMillan is doing ahead of his freshman season.

The answer is likely not one that will make you get over the metaphorical breakup quickly.

“Here’s a guy who was committed to Oregon, and it seemed for the longest time that it was going to be an Oregon-USC race for him. He commits to Oregon, but Arizona never stopped,” said Brandon Huffman, with 247Sports. “He’s one of the biggest commitments Arizona has ever gotten because he is an instant impact player.”

Of course, the Ducks have done incredibly well at the wide receiver position when it comes to recruiting since the new coaching staff came to Eugene. So far, they have landed five-star Jurrion Dickey (2023), four-star Kyler Kasper (2022), and four-star Ashton Cozart (2023) in the past several months. However, it’s always going to be interesting to keep an eye on the Wildcats and see just how big of an impact McMillan can have in Tucson.

There will always be some Oregon fans who think about what could have been if he turns out to be the star we think he can be.

5-star RB Richard Young announces commitment

5-star RB Richard Young announced his commitment on Friday afternoon.

Some things can change in a matter of hours, can’t they?

Late Friday morning, we published an article reflecting a new prediction that had been logged for five-star running back Richard Young to commit to the Oregon Ducks, choosing them over both Alabama and Georgia.

Not long after, Young announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide.

We can’t say we saw that one coming…

The Ducks were seemingly in a great position to land Young, especially after getting a commitment from five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who developed a nice relationship with Young during the recruiting process. Instead, the Ducks will have to watch Young, the No. 2 RB in the 2023 class, go to Alabama and play out his future there.

It is certainly a bummer after getting hopes up for a potential commitment, but Oregon fans should still be happy they have four-star running back Dante Dowdell in the fold for the 2023 class.

5-star Oregon WR Jurrion Dickey picks up offer from Georgia Bulldogs

Jurrion Dickey committed to the Ducks and got his 5-star rating. Now the major recruiting offers are starting to pour in.

The Oregon Ducks bought in early on five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey. They were rewarded.

When Oregon started recruiting Dickey, a standout player from California, he was viewed as a run-of-the-mill four-star prospect. He was solid but lacked some of the massive offers you see for many top players. Then he had an outstanding spring, showed out in camps across the nation and was named an MVP at some of them. He started turning some eyeballs.

He committed to the Ducks and, soon after, was given a fifth star and was ranked the No. 2 WR in the 2023 class.

Now other offers are trickling in. In the past two weeks, Dickey has received offers from Texas A&M, Tennessee and Georgia.

If you feel uneasy as an Oregon fan, that’s understandable. The Ducks landed a marquee WR — something that has happened relatively rarely for the program. Now, other teams are trying to poach him.

With Dante Moore in the fold, though, the Ducks should feel confident they can keep their elite pass-catcher, though.

Ducks become new favorite to land elite 5-star RB over Alabama, Georgia

Massive prediction just dropped. 5-star RB Richard Young is being slotted to choose the Oregon Ducks over Alabama, Georgia.

When the Oregon Ducks got a commitment from 5-star quarterback Dante Moore, there was a feeling that the blue-chip recruits would start flocking to Eugene in droves.

Instead, it’s been relatively quiet since then. However, that may be about to change.

A huge bit of news came in on Friday morning, with a new prediction that 5-star running back Richard Young, the No. 2 RB in the 2023 class, is going to commit to the Ducks. Oregon has been in the running to land Young for quite a while now, but it has always been an Alabama lead in his recruitment.

No longer, though.

Young and Moore seemed to grow close during their visits to Eugene, and they might be able to form a nice offensive punch should Young come to the Ducks. There is also 4-star RB Dante Dowdell, the No. 9 RB in the 2023 class, who has already committed to Oregon.

We will see as this develops and get a sense for when Young will make his final commitment, but this is huge news for the Ducks.
