WATCH: Oregon commits Dante Moore, Dante Dowdell explode in Friday night action

With 5-star QB Dante Moore and 4-star RB Dante Dowdell, Oregon’s future offense is looking bright.

While a large majority of the Oregon Ducks fan base is preparing for the top-25 showdown inside Autzen Stadium getting set to take place on Saturday afternoon, you may be interested to see that the future of the program appears to be in good hands.

Of course, with the Ducks holding the No. 13 ranked recruiting class in the 2023 cycle, that’s pretty well known. With 5-star QB Dante Moore, 5-star WR Jurrion Dickey, and 4-star RB Dante Dowdell leading the way, Oregon’s offense is expected to be dynamic in the coming years.

On Friday night, both Moore and Dowdell took the field in some high school action and did a good job of living up to their recruiting status, finding the endzone multiple times and filling up the stat sheets.

Here are some of the best highlights from their games:

Report: Son of NBA legend to visit Eugene for Oregon vs. BYU game

Dana Altman is pulling out the big recruiting guns this weekend as Oregon hosts No. 14 BYU at Autzen.

Earlier in the week, we got word that Oregon’s 5-star commit Mookie Cook would be in Eugene for the top-25 matching between the Ducks and the No. 14 BYU Cougars.

Now it’s becoming clear that he might be here to do a little bit more than just enjoy the game from inside Autzen Stadium.

According to a new report from SBLive’s Andrew Nemec, five-star small forward Andrej Stojakovic, the son of former NBA star Peja Stojakovic, will also be in Eugene on an official visit this weekend.

Rated as the No. 17 player in 2023, Stojakovic would be a huge addition to Oregon’s class that already includes 5-star Mookie Cook, 5-star Kwame Evans, and 4-star Jackson Shelstad, ranking 6th in the nation.

4-star Ducks’ OL target Logan Reichert announces commitment

Oregon Ducks’ 4-star OL target Logan Reichert announced his commitment on Thursday.

While the last week has been great for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail, they were unable to land one of their top offensive line prospects on Thursday afternoon.

4-star OL Logan Reichert, the No. 55 OT and No. 329 overall player in the 2023 class, announced his commitment to the Missouri Tigers over the Ducks.

The week started strong for Oregon on the trail, landing 4-star LB Blake Purchase. The commitment from Purchase moved the Ducks up into the No. 13 spot in the national rankings and bumped them ahead of USC in the Pac-12 rankings.

Where Oregon sits in 2023 Pac-12 recruiting rankings following latest commitment

There’s been a shake-up in the 2023 Pac-12 recruiting rankings after Oregon’s latest commitment.

Though the 2022 college football season is now underway, the recruiting train never stops.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Oregon Ducks got a big commitment from 4-star edge defender Blake Purchase, the No. 14 EDGE and No. 122 overall player in the 2023 class. Purchase, who chose Oregon over teams like Notre Dame, Iowa State, Colorado, and Washington, is rated as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Colorado.

With the commitment, Oregon now has 18 verbal commits in the class of 2023, and moved up to No. 13 in the national rankings. The commitment also made some waves in Pac-12 recruiting rankings as well. See where the Ducks now sit in the conference:

Breaking: 4-star LB Blake Purchase announces commitment

Oregon Ducks’ 4-star LB prospect Blake Purchase announced his commitment on Tuesday.

The attention of college football fans has turned to the product on the field, but a big commitment took place on Tuesday afternoon, with 4-star linebacker Blake Purchase announcing that he will be joining the Oregon Ducks’ 2023 class.

Purchase is rated by 247Sports as the No. 122 player, and No. 14 EDGE in the 2023 class.

Purchase is the 18th member to commit to Oregon in 2023, and he is one of the higher-rated players now on the Duck’s defensive line. He chose Oregon over Notre Dame, Iowa State, Washington, and Colorado.

While Oregon didn’t have a great showing against the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend, it’s clear that some top recruits are still buying into the message that Dan Lanning is selling.

Prep Ducks: A’mauri Washington, Dante Dowdell lead Oregon commits in impressive Week 2 slate

A much-needed break from Ducks vs. Bulldogs highlights. Here’s how Oregon’s 2023 commits performed on Friday night.

I think that Oregon fans likely need a break from watching highlights of the Ducks vs. the Georgia Bulldogs. Rather than watch tape from the 49-3 drubbing that took place on Saturday, let’s turn your attention to some positive things that took place on Friday night.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights put forth by players that have already committed to the Ducks in the 2023 class, and a couple from players that Oregon is heavily recruiting in 2023 as well.

While the recent past may be a bit disturbing for Oregon, the future certainly looks bright with these players coming to Eugene.

How Dan Lanning will try to build on Mario Cristobal’s work at Oregon

Mario Cristobal was good, but he didn’t maximize talent at Oregon. Can Dan Lanning get UO back to the Chip Kelly 2010 standard? @Ducks_Wire offered analysis.

This is part four of Don to Don where I chat with Ducks Wire staff writer Don Smalley. In this edition I talked to Don about new Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning and what he can do differently compared to former coach Mario Cristobal.

Trojans Wire: What do you want to see from Dan Lanning in Year 1, given everything you witnessed under Mario Cristobal?

What centrally needs to improve to lift UO back to the 2010-2012 Chip Kelly standard?

Ducks Wire: I think he has already done that with recruiting. It’s been off the charts. If Cristobal, through all of his in-games faults, proved anything is that you can recruit the top talent and get them to commit to Oregon. Developing them was the problem.

I think Lanning will not only recruit the top talent, but develop them to play and win at the highest level. The Pac-12 is down besides the Big 3. Oregon has a good chance at going to Vegas and a Rose Bowl is a realistic goal. Now if they beat Georgia, that changes everything this season and beyond.

Where Oregon ranks among the nation’s most talented football teams in 2022

Since 2015, every national champion has ranked inside the top 10 of the 247Sports talent composite. What does that say about Oregon in 2022?

There are a lot of ways in which you can judge how good a college football team is. The most conventional way of doing so is based on success on the field, usually determined by wins and losses. Others look at specific offensive and defensive statistics, parsing through analytics to see which squad has an edge of another.

This may be the most effective way of finding out who has the best team, but when you are in early September and don’t yet have any game results to go off of, another way needs to be available.

Thanks to 247Sports talent composite, another way is possible.

Compiling statistics from each Football Bowl Subdivision team’s roster of 85 scholarship players, 247Sports breaks down recruiting ratings and transfers, giving each team a talent score. Looking at schools this way allows us to see who has the most talent on the roster, allowing us then to see who over or under-performed.

Near the top of the list, as you would suspect, are the Alabama Crimson Tide, the only team with a score over 1,000 points. The score discrepancy between Alabama and Oregon is the same as it is between Oregon and Kentucky, which ranks No. 27 on the list. That’s significant.

Another interesting note from 247Sports is there are a couple of important jumps in the standings. The top 16 teams stand apart from the rest, and every College Football Playoff national champion has ranked inside the top 10 since its debut in 2015.

So do the Oregon Ducks qualify in 2022? Are they among the top-10 teams with a roster talented enough to compete for a championship? Let’s take a look:

Oregon’s 5-star WR Jurrion Dickey among biggest prep stars in first week of high school football

Oregon’s 5-star WR Jurrion Dickey was among the top performers in his first game of the year last weekend.

The Oregon Ducks know that they have a future star on their hands.

After parsing the tape and doing all of the research on 5-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey following his commitment in the spring, it’s not a secret that one of the best players in the 2023 class is coming to Eugene next year to be a part of what Dan Lanning is building.

What has been fun to watch, though, is just how much Dickey has blossomed in the past couple of months as his recruitment has become more high-profile.

This past week, Dickey saw his first high school action of the season, and it didn’t disappoint. With six catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns, plus a 50-yard rushing TD, Dickey was named one of the top performers in the nation last week.

“Dickey flashed the complete skill set that makes him the No. 15 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle for On3,” wrote Charles Power. “He has a rare combination of size, play speed, physicality and technical polish.”

Oregon’s wide receiver room is currently stacked with talented players, but the prospect of bringing in one of the best players in the nation is tantalizing to think about.

There is a lot of time left in the high school football season, so get used to seeing more highlights and updates from Dickey. He’s among the most electric players in the nation.

Prep Ducks: Highlights and reactions from Oregon commits and targets on Friday night

Friday Night Football is back, and Oregon’s commits in the class of 2023 showed out.

College football has returned, and while that’s playing out on our television sets this weekend, the true core of the game was alive and well on Friday night at the high school level.

While these games aren’t easy to find on TV, thanks to social media we get to watch some of the top players across the nation line up on the gridiron and show us what makes them among the best recruits in the class.

We wanted to focus on players who are tied to the Oregon Ducks specifically, be it guys who have already committed or are top targets for Dan Lanning and his staff.

Here are some of the best highlights and reactions from those guys on Friday night:
