Ohio State basketball vs. Oral Roberts: How to watch and listen to the opening round

We’ve got all the information you need to catch Ohio State basketball in the opening round NCAA Tournament action against Oral Roberts.

The Ohio State basketball squad gave us a fun ride in the Big Ten tournament but ultimately ran out of gas in the championship game against a very good Illinois team in overtime. Now it’s on to bigger and better things as the Buckeyes will take on the No. 15 seed, Oral Roberts University.

The Golden Eagles boast the nation’s top scorer in guard Max Abmas who is averaging nearly 25 points per game. Of course, Oral Roberts doesn’t play in the Big Ten, so we’ll see how the young man fairs against stiffer competition. At least one analyst thinks that Oral Roberts has a chance to pull the upset, and is actually picking the Eagles to win. For that to happen, the Bucks would have to have a colossal letdown.

The madness starts in just hours, so call off work or at least get your earbuds ready. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know see or hear the Buckeyes begin their championship march.

Does Ohio State fall in the first round? One ESPN expert thinks so.

Anything can happen in March, but will Ohio State be sent home in the opening round? One ESPN expert made the call for it to happen.

The second-seeded Ohio State basketball team will take on 15th-seeded Oral Roberts University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 3 pm. In the history of the tournament since the expansion to 64 teams, only eight times has a 15 beat a 2. One ESPN analyst believes that number will grow to nine after Friday.

The original bracketologist, Joe Lunardi believes the Buckeyes will fall to the Golden Eagles from Tulsa, Oklahoma, in an epic upset. Lunardi’s main reason for picking the upset? Guard play, specifically 6 foot, 1 inch Max Abmas who is leading the country in scoring.

Of course, Oral Roberts is more than just one player and we gave you some details on things to know about the Golden Eagle basketball program heading into Friday’s contest. Maybe we’re biased, but this one feels like a reach.

Upsets happen all the time in the Big Dance. That’s why they call it March Madness. And while anything is possible, I don’t see it happening to Ohio State this year. The Buckeyes are battle-tested and I see a 10-15 point win, sending Oral Roberts back to Oklahoma to watch the rest of the tournament in its dorm rooms.

Five things to know about Ohio State’s first opponent in the NCAA Tournament, Oral Roberts

You’ve likely heard the name, but how much do you know about Ohio State’s first-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament. Here are five things.

Ohio State is officially a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. What comes with first-round opponents that top two seeds often play is often an education on who, what, when, and where. Such is the case with Oral Roberts, the Buckeyes’ first opponent for all the March Madness.

You’ve more than likely heard the school mentioned before, but how much do you really know about the school named after the famous televangelist? No worries, we’ve got some nuggets to drop on you so that you can look smart at the water cooler, or wherever people congregate these days in the midst of a global pandemic.

Here are five things to know about the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.

Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 79-65 win against Oral Roberts in Norman

Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 79-65 win over Oral Roberts at the Lloyd Noble Center on Wednesday night.

Oklahoma moved to 4-1 on the season with a solid victory over in-state foe Oral Roberts at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners were led by Brady Manek and Umoja Gibson in the first half to build up an 18-point lead at the break. In the second half, it was the Austin Reaves show down the stretch as he single-handedly eliminated any bit of momentum the Golden Eagles could ever muster.

Oral Roberts had played other power schools competitively earlier this season, so Oklahoma winning this game going away wasn’t a complete given. This is a solid win on their home floor with conference play approaching.

Here are three takeaways from the Sooners’ sizable win over the Golden Eagles on Wednesday night:

When, where, how to watch Oklahoma basketball take on Oral Roberts

Everything you need to know ahead of Oklahoma basketball hosting Oral Roberts at the Lloyd Noble Center on Wednesday night.

With full conference play just right around the corner, Oklahoma (3-1, 1-0) looks to continue to fine tune things at home Wednesday night when they host Oral Roberts (3-3).

The Sooners are fresh off of an 85-54 decimation of Florida A&M on Saturday and are looking to keep things moving in the right direction with two more home contests against lower competition this week.

This will be the 18th time these two in-state schools have collided with Oklahoma having taken 15 of the first 17 meetings including an 11-1 mark in games played in Norman.

The Golden Eagles come in having won two straight games albeit against very small programs in Southwestern Christian and Bacone College. However, Oral Roberts is far from a team unwilling to challenge themselves as just this year already they have taken on Missouri, Wichita State and Oklahoma State – even pushing the Shockers and Cowboys to just five-point final margins.

For this matchup of Oklahoma schools, here is everything you need to know:

Oklahoma basketball adds non-conference game against Oral Roberts

Oklahoma basketball has added a non-conference matchup with Oral Roberts set to be played on Wednesday, December 16th.

Oklahoma basketball tipped off their season Thursday night with a blowout 105-66 win over UTSA.

It was a game that was rescheduled from the previous week after it was postponed along with the Sooners games against UCF and Florida that were set to take place in the days that followed.

Neither of those game will be reset for this season, so Oklahoma has gotten at least one of those lost games back with a newly scheduled game against Oral Roberts put down for Wednesday, Dec. 16th.

This is the sixth time the two will have played since Lon Kruger took over as head coach, but the first meeting since 2016.

The game will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Lloyd Noble Center and be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma Plus.
