A familiar face will be returning to the Seattle Seahawks secondary. Free-agent cornerback Pierre Desir has agreed to terms on a one-year deal to return to the Emerald City, according to his agency, EnterSports Management.

Desir was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Browns. He landed in Seattle as a member of the practice squad in 2016 and signed a futures contract for the next season but failed to make the 53-man roster cuts after training camp that year. He has since spent time with the Colts, Jets, and Ravens.

The Seahawks have a couple of vacancies to fill in the secondary and Desir’s veteran experience could net him a roster spot heading into the season.

Seahawks agree to 1-year deal with guard Jordan Simmons

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a one-year deal with guard Jordan Simmons, after declining to tender him as a restricted free agent.

The Seattle Seahawks are working to ensure depth on their offensive line heading into the 2021 season. Seattle will be re-signing guard Jordan Simmons, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.

“The Seahawks have agreed to a one-year deal with guard Jordan Simmons, a source tells me,” Henderson tweeted Wednesday morning. “He made six starts for Seattle last season and is coming back as O-line depth behind Gabe Jackson and Damien Lewis. Simmons’ deal includes incentives for playing time.”

Other media outlets have now verified this report.

The Seahawks did not tender Simmons this year as a restricted free agent, but are now able to get him back for another year.

Bills signing former Seahawks tight end Jacob Hollister to 1-year deal

The Bills will be signing former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jacob Hollister to a one-year deal. He’ll reunite with QB Josh Allen in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills have found themselves a new tight end and will be signing former Seattle Seahawks TE Jacob Hollister to the roster.

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network is reporting the agreement is for a one-year deal.

Seattle allowing Hollister to walk shouldn’t come as a huge surprise following the Seahawks’ signing of new tight end, Gerald Everett to his own, one-year contract.

In Buffalo, Hollister will reunite with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, a former college teammate at Wyoming.

Seahawks signing TE Gerald Everett to 1-year deal worth up to $7M

The Seattle Seahawks are signing tight end Gerald Everett to a one-year deal worth up to $7 million. He can fill Greg Olsen’s role this season.

The Seattle Seahawks are finally getting into the free-agency game. After a quiet start to the new league year, the Seahawks have finally added a player of need to the roster.

Seattle is signing a former division foe, ex-Rams tight end, Gerald Everett. The deal consists of a contract for one year worth up to $7 million.

With Greg Olsen retiring at the end of last season, it seems Seattle quickly found his replacement for this year, at least.

Everett was originally selected by the Rams in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft out of South Alabama. He finished his 2020 campaign logging 41 receptions for 417 yards and a touchdown.

He will be reunited with Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron (previously with the Rams) in Seattle.

Chicago made ‘very aggressive pursuit’ of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson

Before agreeing to terms with quarterback Andy Dalton, Chicago made “a very aggressive pursuit” of Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will not be headed to the Windy City – at least not this season.

Wilson and his camp had named four potential trade partners of interest a couple of weeks ago, should Seattle be amenable to dealing its franchise quarterback. One of those teams was the Chicago Bears, who are now no longer in need of a signal-caller.

The Bears did make a solid push for Wilson though, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Chicago made ‘a very aggressive pursuit’ of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, per sources, and the Bears were told that Seattle is not trading him at this time,” Schefter tweeted Tuesday. “The Bears were one of four teams Wilson’s agent named as a place of interest. Now Chicago has an agreement with Andy Dalton.”

Dalton is reportedly signing a one-year deal worth $10 million deal, with the chance to earn another $3 million in incentives.

Seahawks had offered Jadeveon Clowney up to $16M this year

The Seattle Seahawks had offered free agent Jadeveon Clowney up to $16M this year, one million more than he’s set to earn with the Titans.

The Seattle Seahawks lost out on re-signing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney when he finalized his deal with the Tennessee Titans this weekend.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed the full details of Clowney’s one-year contract terms in a tweet Tuesday night.

The terms include a $6.25 million signing bonus, $5.25 million guaranteed base salary, $1.5 million in per-game active bonuses, $500,000 for 75% playtime, $250,000 for 75% playtime + playoffs, $250,000 for Pro Bowl and $1 million for 10 sacks. The base value of the contract is $13 million with a max of $15 million.

Pelissero followed up with a tweet that confirmed Seattle had actually offered Clowney up to $16 million in April – one million more than Tennessee.

“As we discussed on @nflnetwork today, the #Seahawks offered Clowney 1 year, $15M (max $16M) way back in April,” Pelissero tweeted. “The #Browns made a strong offer months ago, too. In the end, Clowney waits, takes less from Tennessee … and now hopes it pays off next March.”

Despite losing out on Clowney, coach Pete Carroll believes the Seahawks have what it takes this season to see some improved numbers rushing the passer.

Is free agent DE Jadeveon Clowney losing out this offseason?

Due to the complications of the pandemic, free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney might have to wait another year for his big contract.

There is no denying defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has remained one of the top unrestricted free agents of the 2020 NFL offseason. Coming off his one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, Clowney has yet to re-sign with the team or find a new home around the league.

For this reason, ESPN staff writer Bill Barnwell believes he’s one of the biggest losers of this year’s offseason.

“In a similar way to (Cam) Newton’s, Clowney’s market has been depressed by medical concerns and an inability to evaluate those issues under the current climate,” Barnwell writes. “For all we hear about how NFL teams don’t focus on sacks, Clowney’s three-sack total from 2019 hasn’t helped his case. The former first overall pick is unquestionably talented, but the massive deal he might have received under typical circumstances after a more productive season hasn’t arrived.”

Barnwell also reasons that as a result of the current conditions around the league, Clowney might have to wait another season before he lands the long-term contract with the numbers he might be seeking.

“Naturally, it seems like the logical thing for Clowney to do is sign a one-year deal with a contender and try to rebuild his value in the hopes of signing a big deal next year,” Barnwell explains. “Under normal circumstances, that idea makes sense. This isn’t a normal season, though, and there’s a chance that Clowney – and many other veterans – might not be able to sign big contracts next offseason.”

Clowney clearly has a tough choice to make this offseason and cards may no longer be stacked in his favor.

Seahawks agree to terms with left guard Mike Iupati

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with veteran left guard Mike Iupati.

The Seattle Seahawks are keeping another one of their own after agreeing to terms with left guard Mike Iupati. The terms of the deal have yet to be announced but the contract is for just one year, according to a number of reports.

Iupati first signed with the Seahawks an undrafted free agent last spring. For Seattle in 2019, he started 15 of 16 regular-season games played before sitting out the playoffs due to a neck injury.

The Seahawks have been busy beefing up the offensive line this offseason, having signed center B.J. Finney, guard Chance Warmack and tackle Cedric Ogbuehi to the roster. As a result, center Justin Britt could easily result in a cap casualty, saving Seattle much-needed space.

Iupati will join a plethora of guards to compete to regain his starting position once facilities open back up and teams can resume offseason activities. For now, the voluntary virtual program is set to kick off on April 27.
