ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky: Bills must make two moves to reach Super Bowl (video)

As the Buffalo Bills prepare to enter the 2025 NFL offseason, GM Brandon Beane and company will look for ways to improve the roster.

Analyst and former pro signal caller Dan Orlovsky has some insights on where to do just that.

Reaching the AFC championship with a retooled and younger roster in 2024 offers some promise regarding what could be accomplished in the club’s 2025 campaign.

During an appearance on One Bills Live, Orlovsky pointed out where he sees the greatest areas of need for Buffalo to get “over the hump” in such games to reach the Super Bowl.

The former QB has enjoyed a successful second career as an on-air analyst and has indicated on social media an interest in someday returning to the sidelines as a coach.

Here is the full clip breaking down those needs on both sides of the ball:

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky: James Cook’s vision sensational in Bills win vs. Broncos

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky: James Cook’s vision sensational in win vs. Broncos

ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky is well-regarded for his knowledge of football’s intricacies. This week, he joined One Bills Live and praised the  Buffalo Bills’ running game against the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card round, particularly James Cook.

Cook carried 23 times for 120 yards and a score in the 31-7 win at Highmark Stadium.

“I thought James Cook’s vision was sensational,” Orlovsky said. “His ability to wait for the hole and then get through the hole… that vision and burst was one of the better performances I’ve seen all season. It was in many ways, I don’t want to say flawless, but a big performance by that whole group.”

For Cook, this just added to his list of standout games on the ground this year. He had four 100+yard games and eight games of 70+ in the regular season.

He had a spectacular 2024 regular season as he continued to improve as a runner. He tied O.J. Simpson for the most rushing touchdowns in a season in Bills history (16). He did this despite carrying the ball over 120 fewer times than Simpson in his record-breaking year (1975).

Cook, Josh Allen (46 yards rushing), and Ty Johnson (44 yards rushing) led the way for a ground game that totaled 210 yards in the Wild Card win.

Bills’ Connor McGovern says there is a ‘waiting list’ to attend his pizza parties

#Bills’ Connor McGovern says there is a ‘waiting list’ to attend his pizza parties:

Connor McGovern is the biggest pizza man in the western New York area.

At least, as far as the Buffalo Bills are concerned.

It was revealed earlier this summer that McGovern would host pizza parties at his house during the 2023 season… then the Bills went on a winning streak.

The sauce? The team bonding? Whatever did the trick, it worked, and teammates have praised him throughout the offseason about his get togethers.

At this summer’s training camp, McGovern’s pizza was brought up on One Bills Live. During the discussion, McGovern noted how there is actually a waiting list to get into the door when it comes to his gatherings.

Brandon Beane: Bills won’t move back into first round of 2020 NFL Draft

General manager Brandon Beane could still do so. The middle rounds of the draft sound much more likely now.

The Buffalo Bills haven’t been shy about moving around the draft board in recent years.

General manager Brandon Beane could still do so. The middle rounds of the draft sound much more likely now. Beane appeared on the team’s radio show on Wednesday and he said that trying to move back into the Round 1 is pretty much not going to happen.

“I don’t anticipate us at all trying to getting up into the first round. That’s not something we’re even contemplating right now,” Beane said.

“I always want a first-round pick, but sometimes an opportunity presents itself, you trade a high pick like we did for Stefon (Diggs),” Beane added.

While the first round might be out of the picture for the Bills, Beane is still certainly paying attention to it. At this point, he’s not expecting many surprises while he waits around, though.

“I could tell you probably 20 of the 32 first-round picks. Then there’s another 20 that will probably go in the last 12 spots, wherever the go. I have an idea. I put together some names of about 24, 25 guys that I’ve felt pretty confident were going, if not top-32, top 35 to 36,” Beane said.

Then eventually, things get a bit more anxious for the Bills.

“Then you’re looking at, ‘Alright if I’ve got about 18 to 20 spots left before our pick, what would be on the board?'” Beane said.

Even trading up in the second round sounds unlikely for the Bills as well. Buffalo’s first two picks at No. 54 and No. 86 in the second and third rounds, respectively, have a combined pick value of 520 (360+160). That would get the Bills to the No. 38 pick, currently held by the Panthers.

There’s room for the Bills to wiggle in Round 2, but getting to the very top of the second round could be too pricey, let alone getting back into the first round.
