Former Longhorn Scottie Scheffler among four named to USA Olympic team

Scottie Scheffler among four representing USA at 2024 Paris Olympics

The opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympic Games is set to kick off later this summer on Jul. 26 from Paris, France. It is set to be one of the most unique opening ceremonies in Olympic history as it is set to take place outdoors along the scenic Seine River, as opposed to stadiums in the past.

Among the 39 sports and 329 events, Golf will be back for its third straight Olympics after being removed from the Olympic program from 1906 to 2012.

In 2020, United States Golfer Xander Schauffele brought home the gold medal with a one-stroke victory over Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia. The US roster rounded out with Colin Morikawa who finished T-4 as well as Patrick Reed and Justin Thomas who finished T-22.

This year’s Paris games will see the return of Schauffele and Morikawa, but will also include former Texas Longhorn Scottie Scheffler who is ranked No. 1 in the world and Wyndham Clark who is ranked No. 5.

Scheffler has established himself as the clear No. 1 in the world and has won two of the last three Masters Tournaments. Through the first half of the year, Scheffler has already picked up five tournament victories and didn’t shoot a single round above par through April.

What could Team USA look like at the 2024 Olympics?

HoopsHype predicts what guards, forwards and big men could represent Team USA Basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Although the 2023 basketball World Cup was an exciting affair that saw Germany take home the gold medal for the first time in the country’s history, this was merely an appetizer before the main international basketball competition.

What we’re talking about, of course, is the Summer Olympics, which take place in 2024 in Paris.

Today, we’re going to discuss what Team USA might look like at the 2024 Olympics. What guards, forwards and big men are going to represent USA Basketball in Paris 2024? Might we see some roster carryover from this year’s World Cup roster to the Olympic roster?

After yet another extremely disappointing showing for the Americans at a FIBA World Cup, it could be time for changes in roster management strategies. Let’s dive in below.

J.Lindeberg heading to the Olympics with apparel partnership with USA Golf

J. Lindenberg is headed to Paris in 2024 for the Olympic Games. The company has announced its apparel partnership with USA Golf.

J.Lindeberg is headed to Paris in 2024 for the Olympic Games. The company has announced its apparel partnership with USA Golf.

The athletes, caddies, coaches and staff of USA Golf will be sporting J. Lindeberg for the next two Olympic Games in Paris and Los Angeles.

The collection will be revealed later this year for Paris, but playing members on the USA Golf Team will receive layering pieces, polos, outwear and pants to add functionality to their game in all weather.

“We still want to push people a little bit. We want them to feel like they’re aspiring to wear product that they might not have thought about wearing, and we feel like that’s our special niche, our special sauce if you will,” says Scott Davis, President of J.Lindeberg North America. “But we’re always going to perform great on the golf course.”

In addition to apparel made solely for the USA Golf team, J. Lindenberg will also develop a line that will be sold to the public.

“The style and athleticism of J.Lindeberg apparel will be a tremendous complement to the athletes on the USA Golf team,” says Andy Levinson, Executive Director of USA Golf. “We look forward to working with J.Lindeberg to create an exciting and patriotic line of apparel that will be showcased by the greatest players in the world and available to fans to support the red, white and blue as the team looks to carry on its success from Tokyo.”

Team USA is indeed interested in Embiid, sources said, though American officials have not reached out to begin formal recruitment. Form their standpoint, the only thing that can’t happen in the next 10 months is Embiid suits up for Les Bleus. “I kind of mess with him and tell him now he’s like, French,” Maxey said of his famous, sought-after Sixers teammate. “I mess with him saying, you know, you and Rudy are gonna be teammates.” “Sometimes we have to wonder what’s going on with Joe, what’s going on in Joel’s head. I guess we’ll see.”

Jorge Sierra: By the time his contract comes to an end, LeBron James will have made $532 million on NBA salaries alone. That’s roughly the same as Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade combined. -via Twitter @hoopshype / August 17, 2022
Dwyane Wade recently made a guest appearance on JJ Redick’s The Old Man & The Three podcast, and it was an opportunity for the Heat icon to get brutally honest with his thoughts on why their Big 3 garnered so much hate. Wade was quick to point out that the way they teamed up to win a title wasn’t much different from how other iconic teams did it in the past (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter): “If you think about it, no one gives backlash to any championships that Larry Bird won, that Magic Johnson won, that Michael Jordan won,” Wade said. “… You don’t win championships without playing with other guys that are great, first of all.” -via Clutch Points / August 13, 2022
It was at this point where Wade decided to drop a shocking truth bomb about how the hatred for the Heat was racially motivated: “We knew that some of the hate was because of our skin color,” he claimed. “Because of being Black men and deciding to control the fate of our careers. … So, when we had the power, when we had the moment, we took it. But some of the hate came because we were three Black guys who decided and changed the way that the NBA probably would ever be because of that decision.” -via Clutch Points / August 13, 2022
“[LeBron James] recognizes that it could lead up all the way to the trade deadline before that type of deal could occur.” – Dave McMenamin on the Lakers improving their roster via potential Kyrie Irving, Buddy Hield/Myles Turner, or Utah trades. -via Twitter @ClutchPointsApp / August 19, 2022
L.A. has nonetheless pledged to James that it will indeed continue to aggressively pursue upgrades. League sources say James, in fact, has been assured that the Lakers are willing to trade both of their available future first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 if a trade that costs them both picks can realistically position the Lakers to return to contender status. -via marcstein.substack.com / August 18, 2022

That was Draymond Green’s first made 3 of the series. He’d missed his first 12. It was part of an 11-0 Warriors surge to close the first quarter and jump up five. Draymond 3, Curry 3, Poole 3 in final 80 seconds of quarter. – 9:35 PM

A few Stephen Curry notes as we prepare to tip off Game 6:
– He averages 4.4 3-pointers on 46% shooting in the next game after not making a three (which he did Game 5)
– He averages 32 points per game in title-clinching wins — good for second all-time.

Watch: Former Duck Devon Allen runs blazing 40-yard dash at Oregon Pro Day

Track speed on the football field. Devon Allen impressed some pro scouts with his 40-yard dash at Oregon’s Pro Day.

He’s still got it.

Former wide receiver and track star Devon Allen participated at Oregon’s Pro Day inside the Moshofsky Center in the hopes of catching the eyes of some NFL scouts.

Hopefully, they didn’t blink.

We don’t have an official time for Allen’s 40-yard dash just yet, but those in attendance could hear the scouts’ approval as Allen crossed the finish line. He hasn’t played a down of football since 2016 when he was injured. From that point on, Allen concentrated on the Olympics and World Track Championships where medaled in several events.

But with track now behind him, Allen is looking forward to putting on the pads once again and playing in the NFL for the first time. It was thought former teammate De’Anthony Thomas would also show the scouts his talents, but those plans were put on hold. He is currently under contract with the BC Lions of the CFL.
