2025 defensive lineman decommits from Oklahoma Sooners

2025 defensive tackle prospect decommits from the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners’ [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] took a hit on Wednesday evening. Defensive tackle [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag] is decommitting from OU. The move was announced on social media by multiple sites.

Moore had been committed to Oklahoma since July 2023. He is considered a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and On3 and holds offers from Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa State and Miami (Ohio). He hails from Lee’s Summit North High School in Missouri.

The Sooners still have defensive linemen C.J. Nickson, Trent Wilson and Alexander Shieldknight pledged to their 2025 recruiting class.

Moore is the second defensive lineman to decommit from Oklahoma in the last 10 days, joining Floyd Boucard, who made the decision last Monday.

The Sooner’s defensive tackle future still looks really bright with Wilson but has been fast-tracked by the emergence of 2024 defensive tackle Jayden Jackson, who earned a starting role for the Sooners out of fall camp.

USC target, a four-star defensive tackle, decommits from Oklahoma

USC could pick up a prime Oklahoma decommit and bring him to Los Angeles to play for Eric Henderson. That would be pretty sweet.

Floyd Boucard, a four-star defensive tackle from Miami Central High School, announced Monday night that he had decided to decommit from Oklahoma, which puts him back in play for USC and Lincoln Riley. That is quite a big news story in the worlds of Oklahoma and USC recruiting.

“I would like to thank the University of Oklahoma for welcoming me with open arms,” Boucard said. “It’s after much consideration, thought, and conversations with my family that I’ve made the decision to recommit and I am now reopening my recruitment to all schools.” per his social media account (on X).

Boucard also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, USC, Miami, Florida, and Florida State.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound interior lineman had 80 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 11 quarterback sacks in his junior season in Alabama before transferring to Miami Central.

The four-star defensive lineman is projected to either flip to the Miami Hurricanes or the USC Trojans.

Sooners projected to land 2026 4-star safety out of Texas

The Oklahoma Sooners have earned some momentum for a blue-chip safety out of Texas.

With football underway and the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] pretty well wrapped up, Oklahoma recruiting has turned its attention to the [autotag]2026 recruiting class[/autotag].

The Sooners have three players pledged for the 2026 class: four-star quarterback [autotag]Jaden O’Neal[/autotag], four-star running back [autotag]Jonathan Hatton[/autotag] and four-star tight end [autotag]Ryder Mix[/autotag]. Those three commitments have the Sooners inside the top 10 in the early going, and they have a shot at another blue-chip prospect in the cycle.

Josh McCuistion of Sooner Scoop and On3 logged a prediction on Friday favoring Oklahoma for four-star safety [autotag]Jordan Deck[/autotag]. Deck is considered the No. 167 player in the country by 247Sports and the No. 256 player in the nation by On3. Both recruiting sites view Deck as a top 20 safety in the class while Rivals puts him at No. 32 at the position.

Deck holds offers from Power Four schools Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. Deck is a teammate of Mix at Frisco Lone Star High School.

https://twitter.com/On3Recruits/status/1832082302714945745

Deck is 6 feet, 3 inches and weighs 180 pounds, providing good size to the back end of a defense. He does a good job utilizing his length in coverage to challenge wide receivers at the catch point. He shows off good hands when he gets an opportunity to make a play on the football.

As a tackler, Deck does a good job of getting his pad level lower to create leverage on smaller running backs and wraps up consistently.

For Frisco Lone Star, he plays a great deal in single-high and two-high safety looks, and he looks comfortable playing in man coverage and zone. He does a good job reading the quarterbacks eyes while staying aware of the receivers in his area.

With his size and length, Deck could be used in a traditional safety role or play the cheetah position in Zac Alley’s defense.

Last year in 12 games played, he had 2,278 rushing yards and 35 rushing touchdowns for Wynnewood (Wynnewood, Oklahoma).

“I felt loved as soon as I got the phone call from coach Hall (Khenon Hall, Baylor’s associate head coach and running backs coach)! He’s been a part of my process since freshman year, he was my first offer at SMU. So his love and character really showed me that he was serious about the situation.”

The addition of Knighten pushes Baylor up to seven commits in the 2025 class. He is the second-highest-ranked recruit for the Big 12 program behind four-star quarterback Adam Schobel.

Oklahoma offers 2025 offensive lineman Jonte Newman

After spending time at Brent Venables football camp, 2025 offensive lineman Jonte Newman received and offer from the Oklahoma Sooners.

2025 offensive lineman Jonte Newman was at the latest Oklahoma Sooners camp and, by all accounts, had a great performance. Shortly after working with the Sooners coaching staff in Norman, Newman received his official offer from Bill Bedenbaugh and the Sooners.

Newman stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 290 pounds. He’s from Cypress, Texas, and plays high school at Bridgeland. His primary position is left tackle, but he’s got some versatility to his game.

The only recruiting service to rank him so far is On3, and they have him as a three-star prospect. Newman is ranked No. 246 overall, the No. 22 offensive tackle, and the No. 41 player in the state of Texas.

He only has offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, and Prairie View A&M. Now Oklahoma joins that group. Oklahoma seems to be in on the ground floor of Newman’s recruitment.

Bill Bedenbaugh clearly sees something in Newman, despite the overall lack of exposure he’s had in his recruitment. There’s nothing official yet, and his recruitment is just getting started, but according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, TCU and Oklahoma are the top two teams in his recruitment.

Heading into his junior year, and with more offers beginning to roll in, Newman could see a rise in the industry recruiting rankings. Bedenbaugh sees something in him, so that could have an impact on the way the recruiting services see the Texas product.

Where Texas and Oklahoma’s recruiting classes would rank in the SEC

Texas and Oklahoma are stacking talent for the SEC.

College football recruiting is approaching its biggest week of the year with the early signing period on deck. The majority of the top prospects in the class of 2023 will sign their letters of intent starting on Dec. 21.

Texas and Oklahoma sit in great spots with their respective recruiting classes.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff have put together an exciting class led by five-stars Arch Manning, Johntay Cook and Cedric Baxter. The Longhorns class is complete on both sides of the ball and likely finishes inside the top five nationally.

Oklahoma’s recruiting is going steady after a disappointing 6-6 campaign in Brent Venables’ first year at the helm. The Sooners hold the No. 8 class in the country with five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold leading the group.

Both programs have a couple of priority targets that can push each class up the ranking.

With Texas and Oklahoma’s move to the SEC possibly ahead of schedule, we took a look at where the Longhorns and Sooners’ 2023 recruiting classes would rank in the SEC.
