Obviamente.

ChampU BBQ: Who’s coming to Norman for the Oklahoma Sooners mega recruiting event?

The ChampU BBQ is right around the corner and with the Oklahoma Sooners hosting several top prospects, here’s a running list of who will be coming to Norman.

The ChampU BBQ has been extremely kind to the Oklahoma Sooners these last few years and it figures that as long as they keep hosting it, it will always remain that way. Generally, the Sooners’ have an absolutely elite collection of talent in Norman during the summer at a time when school is no longer a factor and prospects are focusing on recruiting.

Last year, the Sooners had flashy luxury cars and every notable Oklahoma player of the past that they could find in attendance. Adrian Peterson was there. Kyler Murray was there. CeeDee Lamb was in attendance. Sam Bradford and Lane Johnson were in the building. Roy Williams was there. Marquise Brown and Billy Sims joined the party. Kenneth Murray and Trent Williams were in attendance.

The event serves as the Sooners’ premier recruiting event of the calendar year and every year it seems to deliver as commitments follow shortly after.

Will this year under a new regime bring the same results? We don’t know but what we do know is who will be in attendance for this mega event.

We’ve taken the liberty of chronicling every confirmed ChampU BBQ visitor below.

Who has the best look? Ranking the Big 12 helmets from worst to first

Which of the members of the Big 12 Conference has the best helmet. We ranked them from worst to first.

In three Saturdays, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Tulane Green Wave will hook up for the opening of the 2021 college football season for both teams. It will be just the second time that the two teams have met, according to Winsipedia.

The Sooners won that matchup 56-14.

As the Sooners prepare to embark on what could be their last season in the Big 12, we thought it would be fun to rank each of the Big 12 teams’ helmets from worst to first.

From color scheme to tradition to overall look, several things were taken into account. I looked only at the teams’ primary helmets and not alternates like Iowa State’s blackout look. It was difficult to land on just one for Oklahoma State who has become the Oregon of the lower midwest with all of their uniform designs.

Former Oklahoma star Joe Mixon has a huge day for Cincinnati

It’s been a frustrating season thus far for former Oklahoma star Joe Mixon. Through three games, Mixon rushed for 164 yards and a disappointing 3.2 yards per attempt.

It’s been a frustrating season thus far for former Oklahoma star Joe Mixon. Through three games, Mixon rushed for 164 yards and a disappointing 3.2 yards per attempt.

On Sunday, Mixon had one of the better games of his four-year NFL career in helping lead his Cincinnati Bengals to a 33-25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was Cincinnati’s first win of the season.

Mixon rushed for 151 yards on 25 attempts and scored two touchdowns on the ground. Mixon also finished with six receptions for 30 yards and another score.

Mixon came just short of his career-high in rushing yards, which he set in Week 16 last season with 162 yards.

The Bengals are now 1-2-1 on the season and face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Here is No. 60 for Oklahoma.

There is a ton of momentum to having a 2020 college football season these days. No definite signs, yet, but the season would start less than 100 days from now.

Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster.

Here is No. 60 for Oklahoma.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Name: Matt Torrez

Number: No. 60

Year: Freshman

Position: Offensive Line

Hometown: San Antonio, Texas

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 280 pounds

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Torrez is a preferred walk-on for Bill Bedenbaugh and the Sooners. A two-sport athlete in high school, Torrez played baseball and football. Starting all four years at Madison High School on the offensive line, Torrez found a home on the gridiron at right tackle.

Torrez joins a rather large swath of preferred walk-ons who have dotted Lincoln Riley’s program over his tenure as Division II and Division III fringe players want to contribute to the success that Oklahoma has had under Riley.

Torrez has yet to play a snap for the Sooners.
