Oregon vs. Ohio State three and out halftime review

Ohio State needs to find some solutions on both sides of the ball. #Buckeyes

Here we are again, enjoying another Ohio State halftime and sweating an insane amount all over. The Buckeyes are losing a tight game to the Oregon Ducks 14-7, and despite only being down by a touchdown, it feels like so much more.

Each game we are going to discuss three hot topics that are going to play a key role in the second half and perhaps the remainder of the season. Hopefully, the Buckeyes can turn it around, but the three issues below need to be sorted out for that to happen.

There’s still time in this one, but it’s time to make adjustments at halftime and come out and let the talent of Ohio State take control.

Next…That second level is…..not good

WATCH: C.J. Stroud hits Garrett Wilson for 27-yard touchown vs. Oregon

Ohio State scored just once in the first half vs. Oregon. Watch the TD pass and catch by C.J. Stroud and Garrett Wilson.

Things haven’t been going according to plan for Ohio State against Oregon in the first half. There was one play that brought the packed ‘Shoe to its feet though, and it came from the arm of quarterback C.J. Stroud.

With Ohio State down 7-0 midway through the second quarter, and the Buckeyes driving, Stroud dropped back and hit receiver Garrett Wilson down the seam for a 27-yard score.

At the time, it tied the game, but Oregon came right back to score a touchdown and the teams headed to the locker room with the Buckeyes surprisingly down 14-7 to the Ducks.

It’s time to take a step back and figure out a way for the talent in the Ohio State locker room to come to play in the second half. Otherwise, we could be talking about a pretty depressing return to the ‘Shoe for many Buckeye fans.

Let’s get this thing figured out.

Report: Injury update on Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux for game against Ohio State

The latest on Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux’s status for Ohio State.

It looks like Oregon Ducks defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux may not be able to go today against Ohio State. According to a Tweet from FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman, Thibodeaux is “very doubtful” to play vs. the Buckeyes in Columbus this afternoon.

This is a very significant development of course. Thibodeaux is Oregon’s best player and a potential top-five pick in the 2022 NFL draft. His ability to get off the edge and get to the quarterback could have put some significant stress on freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud.

If he can’t go, Ohio State’s offensive line will still have to play well, but the threat of sacks and interceptions won’t be as much of a X-factor for the Ducks’ efforts to pull off the upset.

This is still going to be a good game, but you have to think that an explosive Ohio State offense will be able to operate with more precision and productivity without arguably the country’s best pass rusher out of the equation.

Ohio State issues availability report for matchup with Oregon

Here’s who won’t be available for the game against Oregon. Not a bad list, but still some key names in doubt. #GoBucks

As they do every week just prior to game time, the fine folks with the Ohio State football team have issued the availability report for the game against Oregon. It’s not a bad list for a game one week after the season, but there are some notable names that are either game-time decisions or unavailable for Saturday’s top fifteen matchup.

Center Harry Miller is still out, and it looks as though defensive lineman Jerron Cage and safety Josh Proctor are game-time decisions. However, corners Cameron Brown and Sevyn Banks are good to go for the contest based on the report. Here is the complete update from the Ohio State Athletic Department.

Game-Time Decision

  • DT Jerron Cage
  •  DB Jantzen Dunn
  •  SAF Josh Proctor

Unavailable

  •  WR Kamryn Babb
  •  DE Tyler Friday
  •  OL Jakob James
  •  BUL Jaylen Johnson
  •  OL Trey Leroux
  •  LB Mitchell Melton
  •  OL Harry Miller
  •  DL Noah Potter
  •  OL Ryan Smith
  •  OL Toby Wilson

The unavailability of Miller means Luke Wypler will likely get the start again at center after performing well in Minneapolis. If Sevyn Banks can’t go, expect Denzel Burke to be a big part of the game again. He’ll likely still be a part of the rotation.

Ohio State and Oregon will do battle at noon EDT in a nationally televised broadcast on FOX.

Final thoughts before Ohio State takes on Oregon

Some off-the-cusp final thoughts before Ohio State hosts Oregon. #GoBucks

Ohio State has a big one on Saturday. It’s against a top fifteen opponent in the Oregon Ducks, and if the Buckeyes have designs of making another College Football Playoff appearance, winning this intersectional matchup against a quality opponent will go a long way.

But it might not be as easy as many think. Even though the Ducks looked like they were flying backward against Fresno State at times last week, you might be able to chalk a lot of that up to the byproduct of it being Week 1.

The reality is that these are two of the most athletic and skilled teams individually across the board you’ll find in the entire country. So yeah, don’t expect this one to be a Buckeye blowout.

Like we try to do before every game, we have a stream of consciousness and thoughts heading into the matchup Saturday. Some nuggets might be educational, others entertaining, and others downright senseless because that’s how my brain works.

Five bold predictions for Ohio State vs. Oregon

We boldly go where we probably shouldn’t and provide you with five stretch predictions for Ohio State vs. Oregon. #GoBucks

All the hype and lead-up to the game between Ohio State and Oregon is almost over. The game is all set for a Noon kick on Saturday, and both teams look to improve on some inconsistent play and build momentum towards bigger and better things.

Games often ebb and flow and turn on performances of units and individuals, and it’ll be no different in this one. The Buckeyes are the more talented team on paper, but have to get it done on the field against a squad that is very athletic and capable.

We don’t know what the headlines will be come Saturday evening and Sunday morning, but we’re doing our best to shake it up and give you five bold predictions for the game.

Remember, these are bold, so pardon us while we step out on the limb.

How to watch, stream, listen to Ohio State vs. Oregon

Everything you need to know to listen and watch Ohio State football take on the Oregon Ducks.

It’s Week 2 of the college football season and with it comes a much-anticipated matchup. Ohio State welcomes Pac-12 foe Oregon to the ‘Shoe on Saturday for a top 15 showdown as the Fox Big Noon Kick-Off Game of the Week.

Both teams enter the contest at 1-0 after taking care of business in Week 1. The Buckeyes pulled away from Minnesota in the second half while the Ducks struggled with Fresno State. It may have been a classic case of looking ahead for both teams.

There are many storylines to watch. Will Kayvon Thibodeaux play after suffering an ankle injury against Fresno, and if he does how effective will he be? Will the Bucks be back to full strength after missing several starters against Minnesota? After seeing four running backs in the OSU backfield, who will emerge with the lion’s share of carries?

One thing is for sure, Ohio Stadium will be rockin’ after being empty since 2019. It’ll do the heart good to see all that scarlet filling the stands.

Oregon vs. Ohio State: Buckeyes Wire staff predictions

What are the Buckeyes Wire staff predicting?

The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off of an impressive Thursday nigh season opening victory over Big Ten foe, Minnesota. The Buckeyes beat the Golden Gophers 45-31 and although the defense was less than spectacular, the offense looked devastating in the second half.

The Oregon Ducks are coming into Columbus, Ohio, with the same undefeated 1-0 record, but they looked rough against the Fresno State Bulldogs last week. Despite being more than a three-touchdown favorite, Oregon was only able to win 31-24.

Everyone on staff here predicted the Buckeyes to win and cover the spread last week and we wanted to provide you our expertise and expectations against Oregon as well. We will be doing this every week so make sure you come back and check it out!

Ohio State football drops Oregon trailer

It’s that time of the week. The Oregon trailer! #GoBucks

It’s Thursday and there’s an Ohio State football game this week. That must mean that it’s time for the OSU creative team to provide us with another heart-thumping, adrenaline-inducing trailer for the game this weekend.

And in this case, it’s a pretty special one. It’s been 657 days since fans were in the venerable Horseshoe to watch a football game. That day, on November 24, 2019, the Buckeyes beat Penn State and marched on to the College Football Playoff.

Who knew that would be the last time a game was played in front of fans from the public for over a year and a half. In March of 2020, all the fun was put on ice because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But now fans are ready to pour into Ohio Stadium once again, against a quality opponent when a top twelve Oregon team comes to town to try and upset the homecoming. Ohio State isn’t having it.

Watch below and get adrenaline coursing through your veins as you watch highlights from that final game with fans, highlights and moments from the history and tradition of OSU, and then the buildup for what’s coming Saturday afternoon.

This is another one that should have you running through a wall somewhere. We can’t wait to see what that atmosphere is on Saturday when the seal is broken as the home opener for the Buckeyes.

Get ready. And if you are going to the game, be loud, proud, and engaged.
