Ohio State men’s soccer took down the Michigan Wolverines to win the Big Ten Tournament Sunday.

Ohio State football has been the talk of the town, as it typically is, but the Ohio State men’s soccer team has been quietly just as dominant throughout the last few months.

The Buckeyes faced the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament, and they came out victorious, downing their opponent 1-0.

With the win, the Buckeyes are the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Champions. This was expected as Ohio State entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and beat the No. 4-seeded Washington Huskies on November 10.

Michigan was the No. 7 seed and had an impressive run, beating the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers and then No. 6 UCLA Bruins before failing short to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State also earned a first-round bye and the No. 1 seed in the 2024 Division I men’s soccer tournament and will face the winner of Western Michigan vs. SIUE, which will take place on November 21.

Unlike in college hoops, the Buckeyes are the lone No. 1 seed in the tournament. Ohio State ended the season with a 14-1-3 record, and it was 7-1-2 in conference play. The Buckeyes finished the year 5-1 on the road.

Ohio State women’s soccer wins first-round NCAA Tournament battle in dominant fashion

The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s soccer dominated James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s soccer team kicked off their NCAA Tournament action on Friday, and they started the tournament with a dominant 4-1 win over the James Madison Dukes.

The Buckeyes ended with four goals, all of which can be seen below. They kicked the scoring off early, notching their first goal within 60 seconds of play.

They will be facing the Auburn Tigers in the second round after being FIU 4-1 on Friday. Of note, the Buckeyes are the 3rd third seed in their quadrant while the Tigers are the 6th.

The women’s soccer team dominated throughout the season, ending with a 12-5-3 overall record and a 6-3-2 record in Big Ten action. They were 7-1-3 at home as well, where they were at Friday.

Ohio State played Auburn earlier in the season and lost 1-0 on September 8 in Alabama. It was held without a shot on goal despite having eight shots in that battle. The Buckeyes should be better this time around with far more on the line.

The No. 1 seed in Ohio State’s quadrant is the USC Trojans with the No. 2 seed being the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Buckeyes ended the season ranked 10th in the United Soccer Coaches ranking.

In another rendition of Ohio State vs. Michigan, the Buckeyes will battle the Wolverines in the Big Ten Men’s Soccer Championship.

Ohio State men’s soccer has been on a roll this season, and it is set to take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Big Ten Championship Game Sunday at 2 p.m. EST.

The game will take place on the Big Ten Network.

The Buckeyes earned the No. 1 spot in the conference and were the lone team with a first-round bye.

As for Michigan, it came in 7th in the Big Ten and beat the No. 2-seeded Indiana Hoosiers on Nov. 7, following that up with a win over the No. 6-seeded UCLA Bruins on Nov 10.

Ohio State had just one foe to down in order to get where it is.

They faced Washington at SeatGreek Stadium in Illinois for the semifinal matchup Sunday and will return home to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium for the Big Ten Tournament title on Nov. 17.

Ohio State women’s soccer opponent, time announced for NCAA Tournament

Ohio State women’s soccer, which sits as a No. 5 seed, will face James Madison University in the NCAA Tournament Friday.

While football may always take the cake in Columbus, the Ohio State men’s and women’s soccer programs have been crushing it this season, and for the latter, its path to win the NCAA Tournament will commence on Friday at home against James Madison.

The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated on multiple fronts this past weekend. One of those was earning a share of the Big Ten men’s soccer title.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had a weekend for the history books just a few days ago.

Not only did the Buckeyes beat the Penn State Nittany Lions 20-13, but the men’s soccer program had a massive win over No. 10 Maryland on Sunday. That win earned the Buckeyes a share of the Big Ten Title.

The Buckeyes have been virtually unbeatable on the season. They are 12-1-3 overall and 7-1-2 in conference play with that lone loss coming on the road against the UCLA Bruins.

Ohio State has won three of its last four games and drew that lone other battle.

The men’s soccer team can now take their focus to the Big Ten men’s soccer tournament.

They will face the winner of No. 4 Washington vs. No. 5 Michigan State Thursday. The winner will have Ohio State in October with the Big Ten Final coming on November 17.

That said, the Buckeyes are the best team in the country, and they should be eying a national championship opportunity in the coming weeks.

As its dominance continues, Ohio State soccer receives surprise ranking

While Ohio State might be known as a football school, its soccer program has also been among the best in the country this season.

With Ohio State football having a primetime battle with the No. 3-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday, all eyes have been on Will Howard, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in Columbus. However, one other sports program for Ohio State is quietly among the best in the nation, and that’s its men’s soccer team.

In the most recent United Soccer Coaches rankings, the Buckeyes ranked No. 1, although they did come in at No. 2 in the NCAA Men’s Soccer RPI. Ohio State and Maryland (No. 10) are the lone Big Ten teams in the top 15.

With an 11-1-2 record, this Ohio State team has been impressive, and they continue to fight through games, as was evidences in its most recent draw with the Michigan State Spartans Tuesday.

The Buckeyes, since a few games were played since the rankings were released, are now 11-1-3 and 6-1-2 in conference play. They are a resounding 7-0-3 at home.

Ahead of the Big Ten quarterfinals on Nov. 7, the Buckeyes will have a goliath match against Maryland on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ludwig Field in College Park.
