Ohio State basketball will officially host 2025 five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson

A huge visit is on the books for the Buckeyes. #GoBucks

It will be a homecoming of sorts for West Virginia shooting guard, [autotag]Darryn Peterson[/autotag], when he makes his official visit to the Ohio State basketball program.

The 6-foot, 5-inch and 193-pound prospect, who is originally from Cuyahoga Falls, is set to take a trip to Columbus on August 1, as reported by 247Sports Dushawn London. Peterson is one of the best players in the country, ranking as the No. 3 overall prospect and top shooting guard nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

This would be another massive recruiting win for now Buckeye head coach [autotag]Jake Diebler[/autotag], who has done a great job retooling the roster for this coming season and adding players for future years.

It will not be an easy to lure Peterson back to his home state, as Ohio State is battling Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky, Indiana and others for his commitment. At one point, he had narrowed down his list to eight schools, but has since reopened his recruitment to other programs.

The Buckeyes are still searching for their first 2025 verbal.

Ohio State basketball offers 2025 North Carolina combo guard

The Bucks offer the fast rising combo guard. #GoBucks

For all the good news that has come since Ohio State men’s basketball named [autotag]Jake Diebler[/autotag] as its head coach, the Buckeyes are still without a 2025 class commitment.

The coaching staff is hard at trying to change that, and on Sunday it offered North Carolina combo guard, [autotag]Isaiah Denis[/autotag]. Although he is unranked at the moment, the 6-foot, 5-inch, 165-pound slasher still holds an impressive offer list that includes Arizona State, Florida — and now Ohio State.

The rise for Denis has come during the spring, as he has performed extremely well during multiple showcases but mainly the Nike EYBL that has gone on during May.

If he continues his strong play, others will surely join in offering Denis, but the Buckeyes saw enough to warrant a scholarship.

What we learned about Ohio State basketball’s win at home over Penn State

The Buckeyes finally break the losing streak and we found out plenty about this teams resilience. #GoBucks

Ohio State men’s basketball team needed to get its confidence back, and did that at home on Saturday afternoon with a win over Penn State, 79-67.

The Buckeyes didn’t play their best game, but it was enough to defeat a Nittany Lions team that was outmatched. Ohio State’s engine, point guard Bruce Thornton, had one of his worst games of the year, scoring just 3 points on 1-of-9 shooting from the field.

Aside from that there were plenty of positive developments for the Buckeyes in this win. Let’s take a look at what we learned about Ohio State as the ended its 3-game losing streak and improved to 13-6 on the season.

What we learned following Ohio State basketball’s win over New Orleans

Missing Holtmann and Okpara, the Buckeyes didn’t miss a beat. #GoBucks

It looks like Ohio State men’s basketball could have had a letdown against the visiting New Orleans Privateers down head coach Chris Holtmann and starting center Felix Okpara.

That didn’t happen, as the Buckeyes blew out New Orleans, posting a 78-36 win in front of a home crowd. The victory improves Ohio State’s season record to 10-2, as they have one more non-conference game before resuming the Big Ten schedule in the new year.

There was a lot to take away from this game, especially considering the Buckeyes were down two important pieces of this season’s team. Find out what we learned after Ohio State grabbed win No. 10 on the season.

What we learned after Ohio State’s Emerald Coast Classic championship win over Santa Clara

The Buckeye basketball team had a very impressive two night stretch

Not many expected the Ohio State men’s basketball team to advance to the Emerald Coast Classic championship game, but since they were there, they might as well win it.

The Buckeyes defeated Santa Clara 86-56 to cap a two-day run where the team played some of its best basketball of the young season. The win improves Ohio State’s record to 5-1 on the year, and the Buckeyes could very well see themselves ranked after this weekend’s action. They have earned it.

We learned plenty about the Buckeyes after this weekend and here are my biggest takeaways after two great nights of Ohio State basketball.

Ohio State basketball: Previewing the 2023-24 season

The Buckeyes tip off tonight, find out more about this years team here! #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State men’s basketball[/autotag] season gets started tonight, as the Buckeyes host Oakland at 6:00 p.m. ET.

As is every year with collegiate sports, especially basketball, there is a lot of turnover. That is no different for head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag], and there were additions and subtractions from last years team that went 16-19, and missed the NCAA Tournament.

The team isn’t nearly as young as it was last season, with multiple veterans returning with a good amount of experience. Let’s start out by introducing the freshman class, and who should be contributors right away, followed by who will break out and the starting lineup, and my guess as to how this season plays out.
