Ohio State football 2021 projected depth chart, start of fall camp offense

We’ve been able to observe a few days of fall camp with things kicking off this week. Sounds like a good time for a depth chart.

We routinely go through the exercise of projecting the two-deep depth chart for Ohio State football. We start when all the games are done from the previous season as a way-too-early look ahead, then do another at spring and then into fall camp again. We’ll finish it off with our final call right before the start of the season, but it’s time again with fall preseason camp starting this week.

Unlike last year, we actually have some observations that we’ve been able to look at with access to practices opened up much more than it was last season during the depth of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’ve seen a few surprises too that we’ll get into, and we also have a few highly touted prospects now on campus or coming soon to add into the mix. Of course, there are always injuries to keep an eye on as well.

It all leads into our projected two-deep depth chart for Ohio State in 2021. Here’s where we believe things stand at this point with still a few weeks to go before the first game of the fall against Minnesota.

Ohio State football 2021 projected depth chart, post-spring offense

Now that spring ball is over, we have a better idea of what the 2021 Ohio State projected depth chart looks like. We start with the offense.

Well, that was fun Ohio State fans. We had some real, live American college football being played in Ohio Stadium in front of some fans from the general public for the first time in about a year and a half less than two weeks ago.

All the chatter and talk about freshmen and position battles played out before our eyes on a television and streaming device near you. And while nothing was decided, we know more than we did before spring football kicked off on the banks of the Olentangy.

But it wasn’t just the annual LiFESports spring game that gave us a better idea of how things are going, and who is making moves on the depth chart, but it was coaches and player media appearances, some brief looks at practice reps, and video that surfaced.

That all leads us to compiling our annual updated Ohio State football two-deep depth chart projections for the 2021 season. We’re starting first with the side of the ball that scores points and will follow up shortly with the defensive side of the ball.

Here is our updated Ohio State football 2021 offensive depth chart after all the shouting of spring football has stopped.

Ohio State football projected 2021 depth chart, pre-spring defense

Spring ball will kick off in just a couple of weeks for Ohio State. Here’s the latest projection of the defensive depth chart for 2021.

We go through this exercise a few times leading up to the season and with spring ball announced as March 19 for Ohio State, it feels like a good time to see where things stand as a good baseline for what the two-deep depth chart could look like this fall.

We threw our best guess at where the offense stands on Wednesday, and now we’re following it up with what we believe the defense could look like when the Buckeyes snap the ball on September 2. OSU struggled on that side of the ball, especially in the secondary, so it’ll be key to get the right guys in the right position and scheme to make an improvement.

Off we go. Here’s our second effort at projecting the Ohio State football 2021 defensive depth chart.

Ohio State football pre-spring 2021 projected offensive depth chart

With spring just around the corner, we’re unveiling another edition of an early Ohio State football projected 2021 offensive depth chart.

Believe it or not, it’s almost here. Ohio State will begin its spring drills just around the corner on March 19. Mat drills have already begun for the returning roster and the early enrollees for 2021, and it’s almost time to begin forming what this team will look like on the field with the first of fifteen practices that will all culminate in some sort of Spring Game on April 17.

Periodically, leading up to the season in September, we go through the exercise of projecting what the depth chart might look like for what we hope will be another run to a fifth straight Big Ten Championship, College Football Playoff appearance, and a potential national title.

We’ll start with the offensive side of the ball where Ohio State has to replace one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the program with Justin Fields departure to the NFL, and we’ll follow it up with a separate projection of what the defensive depth chart might be at this very early stage of putting the team together.

Here’s what we project the Ohio State football 2021 offensive depth chart will be just a couple of weeks before the Buckeyes get going in spring.
