WATCH: Texas is putting in the work during winter conditioning

It’s a grind.

Texas is in the full swing of their offseason workouts en route to the second spring season under Steve Sarkisian.

The program is in a tough spot as the only way they can go is up, but if they somehow manage to replicate the poor season they had in 2021, people will likely be losing jobs.

The first season post Tom Herman and Sam Ehlinger saw Texas take a step back, finishing 5-7 and having many people questioning if they made the right hire at head coach. While that may be an overreaction, Sarkisian and his staff went to extreme measures this offseason to add as much talent as humanly possible.

Texas pulled in the No. 5 recruiting class, along with the No. 8 transfer portal class and are expecting many of the new faces to either start or play a big role right away.

The staff is making sure the players are working hard and buying into the culture this offseason.

These winter workouts will give some new, and maybe even some older players a chance to stand out ahead of spring ball where there will be position battles all over the field.

WATCH: Torre Becton implements ‘All Gas no Brakes’ culture during workout

There’s a new culture in Austin and success starts in the offseason.

The Longhorns are in dire need of a hot start in the upcoming 2021 season, especially given the fact 247Sports declared Texas as having the ninth toughest schedule in the nation.

One slip-up can change the trajectory of the whole season and starting off with what could be back-to-back trap games will be an indicator of where the program stands. The Longhorns take on a very well coached and deep Louisiana team, and follow that up with a matchup against SEC school  Arkansas, who had shown improvements under Sam Pittman.

A change of culture was needed after the Tom Herman era displayed constant disappointment and looked as if the program had never felt success. Steve Sarkisian had just the guy that would be able to implement his desired culture that emphasizes improvement and simply just having a swagger that shows the program fears none, in Torre Becton.

Becton can be heard emphasizing that nothing they have done in the past matters, because the program is all about moving forward. Something that Longhorn fans are hoping happens, as the team has fallen short of expectations for the past four years.

Texas needs Sarkisian and staff to get the program to a point where the whole world can tell they are back, rather than having to say it.

WATCH: Strength coach Torre Becton pushes the Longhorns to excel

Up close view of one of Torre Becton’s grueling workouts that will help the Longhorns thrive this season.

There is a change of culture in Austin and that starts from the bottom up.

Last season and even years prior, the amount of “stingers” players suffered and infinite times of players looking outmatched strength wise against opponents was utterly embarrassing.

Steve Sarkisian is bringing in a culture that focuses on attention to detail regardless of whether it is a walk through or in a lifting session.

The hiring of Torre Becton as the strength and conditioning coach is one that will set the tone of attention to detail across the program.

Take a look at one of their most recent workouts.

It is evident that even in this short time, there has been a physical and mental transformation across the program, and that is something that will help in taking the Longhorns to the next step.

WATCH: Texas QB Sam Ehlinger showcases strength, leadership

Texas football recently shared a video on Twitter of quarterback Sam Ehlinger leading the team during offseason conditioning.

Championship teams are built in the offseason.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger appears to be locked in. Expectations are high regarding Ehlinger’s senior season, where he has a legitimate chance to become a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Texas football recently shared videos via Twitter of Ehlinger leading the team during conditioning drills, speaking the importance of small details. His leadership both on and off the field continues to be incomparable.

Ehlinger is clearly putting forth the effort to improve his strength and durability also. Although he had career-best production throughout his junior year, his achievements were overshadowed due to an underwhelming number of wins.

Ehlinger continues to show progress in all areas, possesses all of the necessary qualities to lead Texas into the College Football Playoff as a senior.
