SEC powerhouse offers Notre Dame quarterback commit

One of the nation’s top-ranked quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class picked up a big time offer despite being committed to Notre Dame.

In a story we’ve seen before, Alabama has offered a top-ranked Notre Dame commitment in an upcoming class.

This time it was quarterback Deuce Knight, the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Alabama offered him on Monday.  Knight committed to Notre Dame in September 2023.

Knight checks in at 6 feet, 4 inches and 195 pounds. He has received offers from Auburn, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington and plenty of others.

Knight hails from Lucedale, Mississippi, and has was on campus for junior weekend at Notre Dame this past weekend.  He has been a leader in the recruitment of other top targets in the 2025 class, but as we know all too well, an offer from Alabama tends to carry a lot of weight regardless of a commitment status.

Nick Saban not being head coach there anymore obviously takes away some of the bigness but certainly not all of it.

Trade offers couldn’t budge Mickey Loomis into trading down in Round 1

A historic streak of offensive picks set the Saints up to trade down in Round 1. But the offers weren’t good enough to sway Mickey Loomis:

Everything was set up for the New Orleans Saints to trade down in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. A historic streak of 13 offensive players — including an unprecedented six quarterbacks — set up the Saints at No. 14 with all of this year’s top defenders available. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport even reported that the Saints were picking up the phone and talking with teams who wanted to trade up.

But Mickey Loomis couldn’t be dissuaded. After working the phones for five minutes Loomis didn’t find an offer worth accepting, and the Saints chose to stay put and pick Oregon State right tackle Taliese Fuaga.

It makes sense. There were two of this year’s top offensive linemen remaining, between Fuaga and Washington left tackle Troy Fautanu, and there’s no guaranteeing that they both would have made it to the Saints had they traded down too far. Still, it’s disappointing to see Loomis continue to pass on trading down and acquiring more picks when his team badly needs more help restocking the depth chart. We’ll see if there are more trade-down opportunities later inn the draft.

NFL draft simulator offers up 3 huge trades for Saints

This NFL draft simulator offered up three huge trades for the New Orleans Saints. Which one would you sign off on?

Could this be the year the New Orleans Saints finally trade down? There’s a precedent for teams trading into the final picks of the first round, hoping to secure a coveted fifth-year option for rookies taken in the first frame, and this might be their best shot to benefit from it and win back some of the future draft capital they sacrificed over the last year.

To get an idea of which trade offers might be out there, we ran a draft simulation on  Pro Football Network which offered three different prompts for the No. 29 overall pick (and the updated Rich Hill draft pick valuation chart helps grade each of them). Which of these offers would you sign off on?

LSU Football Recruiting Profile: 2025 WR TaRon Francis

The Tigers recently offered the rising sophomore from New Orleans.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] looked in his own backyard and found an up-and-coming star at wide receiver in [autotag]TaRon Francis[/autotag].

Francis is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver that plays for Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Edna Karr Cougars finished last season 11-1 with a loss in the 4A semifinals to future state champion Westgate.

Francis will only be a sophomore this fall so he has plenty of time to get noticed before he signs his name on the dotted line as a senior. LSU was his first Division I scholarship offer, maybe that will play a role in where he decides to enroll in college.

LSU offers 2025 linebacker from Georgia

Jadon Perlotte is the latest of several players the Tigers have offered from Buford High School.

[autotag]Jadon Perlotte[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound linebacker from Buford, Georgia, where he plays for Buford High School. The Buford Wolves finished last season 14-1 with a win in the 6A state championship game over Langston Hughes High School. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has been reaching into the Buford well a lot here lately as he has sent multiple offers to athletes from there over the past few months.

Film Analysis: Perlotte split time last year between the junior varsity and varsity squad for the Wolves, so it is hard to evaluate his talent level. You can see that he is a good athlete, though, as he makes some good tackles and does a great job of rushing the quarterback and disrupting plays.

LSU offers Texas tight end in 2025 recruiting class

The Tigers are one of the numerous top programs to offer the rising sophomore.

[autotag]Davon Mitchell[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end from Allen, Texas, where he plays for Allen High School. He visited Baton Rouge and attended the LSU skills camp that was held on June 5, and he blew away the coaches with his athleticism. He played on the junior varsity team last year for Allen, but he showed at camp that he can run with the big dogs.

Film Analysis: You can tell by the first minute on film that he is a man among boys at the JV level. He is heads and shoulders ahead of most people his age physically. It took nine players to tackle him in the first clip. He’s definitely gifted.

Tigers offer 2024 athlete from the Boot

The Tigers are targeting the Lafayette prospect, who likely projects as a quarterback.

[autotag]Ju’Juan Johnson[/autotag] is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete from Lafayette, Louisiana, where he plays for Lafayette Christian Academy. Johnson was on a Knights team that went 10-2 last season and had a second-round 42-7 playoff victory over the Newman Greenies (led by [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag]). Johnson will be entering his junior year this fall and [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] will definitely be keeping an eye on him.

Film Analysis: I know he is listed as an athlete per On3 and 247Sports, but it looks like he’s a pretty good quarterback to me. The kid can absolutely sling it. He has great pocket presence and awareness and he can make any throw he wants to.

LSU offers 4-star Texas receiver in 2023 class

The Tigers are trying to become a factor for speedster Kyle Parker.

[autotag]Kyle Parker[/autotag] is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver from Lucas, Texas, where he plays for Lovejoy High School. As a junior in 2021, Parker was named as a Texas District 7-5A D-II first-team selection. He also competes in track and field. Last year, he ran a 10.89 100m, and he ran an 11.67 100m as a junior. He also ran a 23.04 200m and long jumped 17-8.5 as a sophomore.

Film Analysis: Parker is a speed demon. Lovejoy likes to get the ball into his hands as soon as possible as they will run a lot of screen passes and just let him run with it. There aren’t many people that are going to be able to catch him. He is a vertical threat with great hands.

LSU offers 4-star athlete from Florida

Robert Stafford has the talent to play on either side of the ball at the next level.

[autotag]Robert Stafford[/autotag] is a 5-foot-11, 171-pound athlete from Melbourne, Florida, where he plays for Eau Gallie High School. As a junior in 2021, Stafford was a two-way player that didn’t get snaps on defense until spring before his junior season. Here’s the 247Sports summary on him.

“On offense as a wide receiver, he caught 42 passes for 605 yards and 5 TDs. On defense, he lined up primarily at cornerback and he was credited with 17 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and an interception in 9 games per MaxPreps.”

Film Analysis: Stafford is a super talented athlete that could play on either side of the ball at the next level. He has excellent speed, quickness, hands, and ball skills that separate him from the rest of the pack.
