AEW Rampage results 10/6/23: Komander is coming for Eddie Kingston

Full results for the Oct. 6, 2023 episode of AEW Rampage, where a No. 1 contender was found for Eddie Kingston’s ROH world title.

Have things calmed down a bit in AEW land? We mean relatively speaking, of course.

After three pay-per-views in less than two months, plus the Grand Slam show at Arthur Ashe Stadium plus the high profile debut of Adam Copeland, maybe AEW can catch its breath just a bit.

That doesn’t mean tonight’s AEW Rampage doesn’t have some interesting stuff planned, mind you. There’s a very intriguing four-way match to find a contender for Eddie Kingston. We’ll also see two of our favorites, Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida, join forces.

So let’s enjoy this hour of pro wrestling simply for what it is, shall we?

Though we’ve passed the “All” shows that were just a week apart (All In and All Out), the pace of AEW events isn’t slowing down just yet. The brand spanking new WrestleDream is looming on the first weekend of October, and oh yeah, Grand Slam is coming up at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens in …

One week? Wait, what?

OK then, we’ve obviously got some important business to attend to tonight on AEW Dynamite in Cincinnati, and by that, we mean finding out who’s going to be challenging for the AEW World Championship (held by MJF) and AEW Women’s World Championship (currently around the waist of Saraya). We’re doing that in the most time-honored way possible tonight: in the ring.

On the men’s side, the final match in a tournament will be a very intriguing encounter between Samoa Joe and Roderick Strong. Both have their own reasons for wanting the Triple B other than just wanting to win gold, and we can’t wait to see which direction AEW decides to go.

The women’s challenger will be decided in a four-way bout that includes former champs Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker and Nyla Rose. Two-time champ Toni Storm is in the hunt as well, and would arguably be the juiciest winner of all since she is teammates with Saraya. Or was? We’re not 100% clear on that, nor are The Outcasts, nor, quite possibly, is Storm herself.

Want even more? Cool, because there’s a Jon Moxley title defense in his hometown, the third meeting in a trilogy between Hangman Adam Page and Brian Cage, and an appearance by Le Sex Gods. Sounds like plenty of good stuff to us.

AEW Dynamite results 08/30/23: Orange Cassidy wins but must face Mox at All Out

Orange Cassidy cut the most fiery promo of his career after the AEW Dynamite main event in Chicago.

Unlike AEW pay-per-views, which tend not to have too may matches promoted too far in advance, tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Chicago is shrouded in some mystery.

There could be … reasons for that. The scuttlebutt is that some talent experienced delays returning from London for All In. Tony Khan also reportedly told anyone who needed it that they could have this week off to attend Bray Wyatt’s funeral service, though that is now next week and could bring some people back into the fold for this Dynamite.

On top of that, CM Punk and Jack Perry are reportedly suspended following their run-in at All In. While Punk has been exclusively on Collision since that show started and almost certainly wouldn’t have been on tonight’s show, the uncertainty regarding his status for this weekend’s PPV could definitely be having a ripple effect on Khan’s plans.

All of which brings us back to Dynamite, which is the rare AEW Wednesday show without tons announced ahead of time. We know there will be a title match, with Orange Cassidy defending the AEW International Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo. The winner gets the gold, which is nice, but also has to face Jon Moxley Sunday, which is less nice.

We’ll also hear from Adam Cole, the loser of All In’s tremendous AEW World Championship title bout. Cole decided not to cheat to beat MJF, just as the champ passed up opportunities to take shortcuts to defeat him. Is he experiencing any remorse over his choices? We may learn that tonight.

Other than that, everything else for tonight’s show is, for now anyway, a surprise. Sometimes that’s fun, though, and we hope that’s the case for the second straight go home Dynamite in a row.

AEW Rampage results 08/18/23: Fight for the Fallen ends with 4-way brawl

The women in the 4-way title match at All In ended AEW Rampage Fight for the Fallen with a huge brawl.

We’re less than two weeks away from what’s shaping up to be a historic AEW All In at London’s Wembley Stadium. And while today’s news hasn’t exactly been great for the company, one thing that can take some of the bad vibes away would be a great hour of Rampage.

This one looks like it could be exactly that, with two of AEW’s best high-fliers going at it, plus a big women’s tag team match and the ROH tag team champs in action as well.

So yes, it’ll be nice to just concentrate on the actual wrestling for a bit, plus the fact that all of AEW’s shows this week benefit the Maui Food Bank. Let’s do it together.

AEW Collision results: Toronto isn’t Punk Country (but it does like Naito)

See the final matches and actions of AEW and NJPW’s finest the night before Forbidden Door on AEW Collision.

If someone had come back in time from 2023 to tell a slightly younger version of me that “hey, there’s a second big U.S. wrestling promotion and they work hand in hand with New Japan Pro-Wrestling,” younger me would have thought, “wow, that sounds pretty cool!” And as it turns out, it definitely is, as we’ll see tonight on the second episode of AEW Collision.

As you no doubt are already aware, AEW and NJPW are teaming up for their second annual Forbidden Door supershow Sunday night in Toronto. But as it turns out, a bunch of wrestlers from both companies will also be in action tonight.

One very intriguing crossover match has already captured our imaginations. Swerve Strickland has been superb these last few months as a heel, even though AEW hasn’t exactly booked him toward the top of the card. That hard work pays off on Collision, when he’ll take on none other than New Japan’s Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi. It should be a really fun matchup, to say the least.

The main event has some of the flavor of last week’s, with CM Punk and FTR joining forces once again, this time adding Ricky Starks to the mix. Bullet Club Gold is on the other side for the second straight week as well, bolstered by The Gunns. Could Jay White and company have some other devious tricks up their sleeves? You can’t put it past them.

We’ll also see Miro and Andrade El Idolo, plus another first round match in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Plus Darby Allin and Sting will announce their mystery partner for Forbidden Door. Sounds like a fun two hours, and we’re looking forward to recapping it.

AEW Collision results from Toronto:

  • CM Punk, FTR and Ricky Starks do a cold open of sorts, along with the other side of the main event: Bullet Club Gold and The Gunns
  • Tony Schiavone calls out Darby Allin and Sting, but he gets Chris Jericho instead, flanked by Minoru Suzuki, and they plan on torturing Schiavone to tell them who the mystery partner is; happily for Schiavone, Allin and Sting come out and tell Jericho their partner is someone who already kicked Jericho’s ass … at the Tokyo Dome … yep, it’s Tetsuya Naito, who appears in the flesh to confront Jericho in the ring

  • Miro says he’s been in exile for almost a year, but says he must walk alone so he has renounced his god, his gold and his beautiful wife

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Swerve Strickland by pinfall, then saw MJF on the big screen promising to embarrass him and claiming he asked Tony Khan for their match to lead off Forbidden Door

  • Andrade El Idolo def. Brody King by disqualification after Buddy Matthews invades the ring while King is about to submit to the Figure Eight, and the House of Black teammates administer quite the beating
  • Christian Cage and Luchasaurus come to the ring to talk with Schiavone, and Cage spends his time running down his own hometown and acting like he’s the TNT Champion, not Luchasaurus

AEW Rampage results 06/09/23: Skye Blue soars to title opportunity

See who emerged as the No. 1 contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship on AEW Rampage.

It’s time to find out who’s going to be next to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship.

There are a handful of wrestlers with their eyes on Storm’s title, so the easiest way to settle the pecking order among them is to throw them into one match. Naturally.

That happens tonight on AEW Rampage, with Britt Baker, Skye Blue, Mercedes Martinez and Nyla Rose all vying for the title shot. Logic would dictate that Baker will win, both because she’s the highest profile competitor and is part of an ongoing narrative with Storm and The Outcasts, but you never know.

This episode of Rampage will also have a couple of intriguing trios matches (any night where Rey Fenix and The Acclaimed are all competing is a good one) and Powerhouse Hobbs will be in action as well.

So even though I’m personally invested in and distracted by Game 4 of the NBA Finals (#BringItIn), I’m looking forward to this Rampage as well. Let’s see what we’ve got.

  • QTV is back in effect, with QT Marshall saying they need to be edgier, but despite one funny joke about “making an announcement about an announcement,” they settle on just sending Powerhouse Hobbs out to show people what Collision will be about

AEW Dynamite results 05/31/23: Britt, Adam lower the Boom, CM Punk confirmed

Get filled in on all of the action from AEW Dynamite in San Diego.

AEW Dynamite usually promotes a bunch of matches and segments well ahead of time. For tonight’s show in San Diego? Not so much.

That’s not to say we didn’t have any advance notice about what’s on the card. For instance, the mixed tag match pitting Adam Cole and Britt Baker against Chris Jericho and Saraya was advertised last week. And after his dramatic betrayal of The Elite Sunday at Double or Nothing, we knew we’d hear from Konosuke Takeshita (and, sadly, Don Callis).

But the rest of the slate was a mystery until this afternoon. Now we know some more of the matches, starting with a title defense by a champ whose reign has only been a few days. TBS Champion Kris Statlander has issued an open challenge, and it was answered by Nyla Rose.

Other wrestlers who were prominent at Double or Nothing will also be in action. The Blackpool Combat Club is undoubtedly riding high after defeating The Elite, but they’ll have to be on top of their game to defeat the Lucha Bros. and Bandido. Swerve Strickland, Big Bill and Trent will collide in a three-way dance, and Orange Cassidy will team with Darby Allin to face the Gates of Agony.

So that’s a lot more info than we had before. Plus we haven’t even gotten to the thing that has been the subject of equal parts excitement and eye-rolling, another announcement from Tony Khan about the debut episode of AEW: Collision next month. Will he confirm the participation of a certain Mr. Brooks? And will anyone be salty if the announcement is anything else?

AEW Rampage results 05/26/23: Tag teams, trios take the pre-Double or Nothing stage

Maybe because AEW PPVs are several months apart, it sometimes feels like the stretch run to each one is longer than it should be. But that’s behind us now as Double or Nothing is Sunday night, meaning tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage is legitimately the last stop before the big event.

Unlike previous years, AEW chose not to do a live Rampage for Double or Nothing week this time out, meaning there are spoilers out there for what’s going to happen. Nevertheless, just like we did for the other wrestling show on TV tonight, we’re going to happily live blog this like it’s unfolding in real time. You can indulge us that, yes?

What we know is that this is going to be a tag team-heavy hour of action. The Acclaimed, who went from being the hottest duo in the sport to a bit of an afterthought as of late as a trio, will face a trio from Le Faccion Ingobernable. A big battle in the women’s division will see Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida join forces to battle Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir. And Best Friends will go up against a tag team that used to be part of The Firm but seems to be sticking together anyway, Big Bill and Lee Moriarty.

AEW Rampage results from Las Vegas:

  • Max Caster gets in a Fight Forever mention in his entrance rap and says Rush’s hair looks like pubes

  • The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass def. La Faccion Ingobernable by pinfall
  • After the bell, Anthony Bowens says they’ve been running through the trios division all month long so they’re looking to challenge House of Black on Sunday
  • Ethan Page and The Gunns def. Frescomatic, Watson and Jeaux Braxton by pinfall

AEW Rampage results: Mark Briscoe announces Reach for the Sky ladder match

Get quick AEW Rampage results for March 10, 2023, with Action Andretti facing Sammy Guevara and Mark Briscoe making a special announcement.

Action Andretti might have Chris Jericho’s number, but that can’t necessarily be said about the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society. That small but important distinction will come into play tonight, as he once again takes on Sammy Guevara on AEW Rampage.

You might say it’s because Sammy cheats. Jericho would say it’s because he wrestles smarter. Tomato, tomato. Oh wait that pun doesn’t work in print. But you get the idea.

We’ll also hear from Mark Briscoe and his idea for how to “move on” with the ROH World Tag Team Championship. That should be good.

AEW Full Gear preview: When and where it’s going down, what to expect

Because AEW only has four pay-per-views a year, there’s always a chance that things will change up a bit around the promotion between each one. But to say that some stuff has gone down since All Out in early September would be a wild understatement.

CM Punk, who won the AEW World Championship that night, is gone, perhaps forever. None of the company’s founding EVPs have been around either, following the most surreal post-event press conference in pro wrestling history.

There have been other absences too, including that of the House of Black (though they appear to be on their way back soon). And there have been notable arrivals, none bigger than that of Saraya, formerly Paige during her WWE days.

Some indicators of lagging interest in AEW, including TV ratings and live event attendance, could be related to all the upheaval. Hitting a home run with Full Gear would certainly help, and fortunately, there’s a much anticipated main event to bat cleanup. Jon Moxley has been the heart and soul of the company just as his promos declare, and MJF is quite simply one of the best all-around young talents in the business (as he’s also fond of pointing out).

Their showdown anchors another very full PPV card that includes four other title matches, a tournament final that will determine either Moxley or MJF’s first challenger, Saraya’s in-ring debut, and a classic grudge match inside a steel cage. Given Tony Khan’s penchant for adding matches during event week, there could still be more in store as well.

Whether it’s a true reset and turning of the page or simply a fun night of pro wrestling, Full Gear definitely has the potential to deliver.
