Report: Texas A&M WR Noah Thomas tragically lost his older brother, Josh, earlier this week

The Aggie community received some sad news as Noah Thomas tragically lost his older brother, Josh, earlier this week, according to a report.

The Texas A&M football community received some sorrowful news ahead of Saturday’s game against Auburn. According to a report, wide receiver Noah Thomas tragically lost his older brother, Josh, earlier this week.

GigEm247’s Carter Karels shared the news Saturday morning on social media. Karels indicated that he had exchanged messages with the Thomas family, who echoed their gratitude for the support they’ve received from the Aggie community.

Before Saturday’s kickoff, Thomas was seen on the field but was not dressed out to play. Though the sophomore was knicked up last week, it remains unclear if the tragic news about his brother was a factor in him not playing on Saturday. If so, it’s understandably warranted as Thomas and his family deal with their tragic loss at this time.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Thomas and his family at this time. If you would like to support the Thomas family during this time, donations can be sent to their GoFundMe page.

Final injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Auburn

Here is the final injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s SEC opener vs. Auburn on Saturday afternoon

Texas A&M (2-1) will take on the visiting Auburn Tigers (3-0) on Saturday afternoon inside Kyle Field, and yes, it’s going to be a scorcher, as temperatures will be as high as 95 degrees, and even hotter on the field.

Both programs are coming off wins against lesser opponents, as the Aggies blew out UL Monroe 47-3 last Saturday, while the Tigers downed Samford 45-13 to stay perfect on the season, setting up for one of the most challenging matchups to predict at the start of SEC play.

While Texas A&M’s defense has been less than exceptional, quarterback Conner Weigman tore the Warhawks secondary to shreds, throwing for an efficient 25/29, 337 yards, and two touchdowns, including a 19-yard rushing score, further proving that the Aggies offense will be their predominate strength in 2023.

Earlier this week, head coach Jimbo Fisher provided a brief update regarding the injury report after several players sat down last weekend, headlined by star wide receiver Evan Stewart, starting center Bryce Foster, and freshman tackle Chase Bisontis.

While Stewart, Foster, and Bisontis are primed to return to the lineup against Auburn, starting right tackle Reuben Fatheree II is reportedly still in the process of rehabbing before he can fully return, according to Fisher during his weekly SEC teleconference:

“I do not know. That will be up to his development on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis we are seeing. But he is practicing well, doing well, getting better each and every day and we will see as that goes.”

Noah Thomas left mid-game due to a lower body stinger but will reportedly return as well, as the Aggies’ entire wide receiver depth chart will be available against the Tigers.

For Auburn, linebacker Austin Keys will miss the game, and most notably, starting cornerback Keitonte Scott will also miss the game as a late scratch this week.

Texas A&M will host the Auburn Tigers at Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11:00 a.m., where it will air on ESPN.

Here are the five keys to victory as Texas A&M faces Auburn in Week 4

From bottling up the Tigers’ run game to letting Conner Weigman cook, keys to victory as Texas A&M welcomes Auburn in Week 4.

Three weeks of college football is in the books, but Texas A&M’s (2-1) season truly gets underway on Saturday. The Aggies welcome Auburn (3-0) to Kyle Field in Week 4, in what will mark the start of SEC play.

Both teams are much improved from the last time they met late in the 2022 season. The Hugh Freeze era for the Tigers is off to a 3-0 start, while Bobby Petrino has the Aggies’ offense humming with a top-three ranking in the conference.

Those factors set up what should be a highly competitive game between two programs eager to steer their season on the right trajectory. A&M, of course, is in the midst of a pivotal 2023 campaign that may very well determine the future of Jimbo Fisher in Aggieland.

A win on Saturday would only lend more truth to the foundation being built in College Station, highlighted by a talented offense that can stake its claim as one of the best in the SEC.

Here are the five keys to victory as Texas A&M welcomes Auburn to Kyle Field for their first SEC matchup of the season.

Five players to watch in Texas A&M’s Week 4 home matchup vs. Auburn

Will the Aggies’ pass rush wake up? is Auburn a legit threat on offense? Here are five players to watch ahead of Texas A&M vs. Auburn.

Texas A&M (2-1) will host the surging Auburn Tigers (3-0) on Saturday afternoon, as kick-off is set for 11:00 a.m. CT, inside what should be packed Kyle Field as the SEC schedule starts off with a bang.

Featuring a first-year head coach in Hugh Freeze, the Tigers have yet to find an identity on offense. Still, their undefeated record speaks for itself behind a competent secondary, a group poised to give Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman fits early in the game before he eventually settles into a rhythm.

Coming off of a 47-3 win against UL Monroe, Jimbo Fisher’s resilient team is, of course, led by Weigman’s solid start under center, featuring one of the best-receiving cores in the country. Still, the Aggies’ defense remains a weekly question mark outside of the, so far, solid rushing defense.

Within last Saturday’s victory, several starters, including wide receivers Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas and center Bryce Foster, surprisingly missed the game due to undisclosed injuries, and even though their absence failed to affect last weekend’s outcome, they will be greatly depended on in SEC play. While all three, also including freshman tackle Chase Bisontis, who went down with an injury mid-game, are expected to return on Saturday, it will take a complete team effort to leave the weekend with a W.

Combined with multiple pre-game storylines, here are five players to watch ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 4 SEC clash with Auburn.

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Auburn

Ahead of Texas A&M’s SEC home opener vs. the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, here is the initial injury report for both squads

Texas A&M (2-1) is fresh off its 47-3 Week 3 victory over the visiting UL Monroe Warhawks last Saturday, finally getting back on track after falling 48-33 the previous week to Miami in one of their worst defensive showings in years. This Saturday, the Aggies will host the undefeated Auburn Tigers to open the SEC slate while seeking revenge after falling to the program in 2022.

Leading the way once against, sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman tore the Warhawks secondary to shreds, throwing for an efficient 25/29, 337 yards, and two touchdowns, including a 19-yard rushing score.

With star wide receiver Evan Stewart sidelined, Grand Valley State transfer WR Jahdae Walker exploded for five reactions, 110 yards, and a touchdown, only upstaged by veteran WR Ainias Smith, who led the game with seven receptions and 127 yards through the air.

On Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher made his weekly media appearance to preview the Aggies’ matchup with the Tigers while providing several updates regarding the injury report after several players left the UL Monroe game early.

Leaving the game early, freshman right tackle Chase Bisontis and wide receiver Noah Thomas were both nicked up in-game. At the same time, Evan Stewart’s status was never disclosed. Still, as of today, Fisher stated that Bisontis, Thomas, Stewart, and possibly offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II “should be good to go” against Auburn.

Starting center Bryce Foster and freshman cornerback Jayvon Thomas also missed Saturday’s game and are also expected to return this weekend.

Linebacker Austin Keys will likely miss the matchup for the Tigers due to a thumb injury, while cornerback Keionte Scott will be out as well.

Texas A&M will host the Auburn Tigers at Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11:00 a.m., where it will air on ESPN.

Noah Thomas and Evan Stewart are causing problems for opposing defenses

A pair of Aggie Wide receivers are becoming a top duo and the stats are proof.

For the second year in a row, the SEC West looks up for grabs and the Aggies have a dynamic duo that can pluck it out of the air. Sophomore wideouts Noah Thomas and Evan Stewart have been on a tear through the first two games of the season and have the offense off to a good start this year.

So far early in the season, Conner Wiegman has found a good repour with his fellow class of 22’ teammates putting up 52 points against New Mexico and 33 against Miami.

Evan Stewart came to Texas A&M with a well-deserved five-start pedigree, and it flashed multiple times last season as a true freshman with over 600 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That’s carried over into year two and under the new offensive scheme, he looks to be on pace for a 90+ catch 1,000-yard season. Through the first two games Stewart averaging 13.5 yards a reception at 128.5 yards per game and his two touchdowns already match his total from last season.

Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Noah Thomas might be a surprise on the college scene for some, but if you’ve listened to Jimbo Fisher speak over the past few months, you know that Thomas is in store for a big year. The 6’6″ 200 receiver has doubled his touchdown output from season with four and still has ten games left on the schedule. Even at his size he is still a solid route runner who’s quick enough to play in the slot and will be a redzone match nightmare all season long.

I don’t want to get excited too early but to see that two of the most athletic offensive weapons are being futured is a good sign for things to come. Two games in Thomas currently sits tied for third in the nation for touchdown receptions (4) and Stewart is tied for third in the nation with receptions (19). Together they have produced 369 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

With Alabama falling to Texas, they drop to 1-1 tied with the Aggies and LSU. There is no doubt in my mind that whichever team has the most dynamic in the next few weeks will end up on top on the standings at seasons end. Thomas and Stewart are just the tip of the iceberg and once this offense gets going, I’m expecting others to be more involved. However, until that point, the two sophomores will continue to be that safety valve Wiegman can count on.

Five reasons why Texas A&M will beat Miami in Week 2

From their advantage at QB to the depth of their front seven, here are the reasons why Texas A&M will beat Miami in Week 2.

After beginning their 2023 rebound campaign with a win over New Mexico, No. 23 Texas A&M (1-0) will look toward Miami (1-0) as their first consequential matchup of the season.

It’s not an overstatement to say that whichever team walks away with a win will make serious strides regarding their turnaround efforts. Both schools are coming off 5-7 seasons, and both hired new coordinators to revive a stagnant offense. However, the Aggies should have the edge when it’s all said and done.

Regarding talent on both sides of the ball, Texas A&M holds advantages at the quarterback spot, in the receiving corps, and in their front seven on defense. Coupled with an injection of veteran leadership throughout the roster, it’s about executing their game plan and leaving no margin for error as they face a more than component foe in the Hurricanes.

Here are the reasons why Texas A&M should move to 2-0 with a win over Miami on Saturday.

Five players to watch in Texas A&M’s Week 2 road matchup vs. Miami

Here are five players to watch out for ahead of Texas A&M’s road clash with the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.

Texas A&M’s 2023 rebound season is off to the races after Jimbo Fisher’s rejuvenated roster dismantled the visiting New Mexico Lobos 52-10 behind starting quarterback Conner Weigman’s five touchdowns, including three to breakout sophomore wide receiver Noah Thomas.

This Saturday, the Aggies’ revamped offense will now take their high-octane passing attack to South Beach as they face the Miami Hurricanes in the highly coveted Week 2.

Throughout the week, we have done our absolute best at Aggies Wire to provide you with top-notch previews of the matchup this week, ranging from the top storylines, Florida native Shemar Stewart’s return to Miami, and, of course, the key to keeping the Weigman upright in the pocket; Texas A&M’s offensive line, or the “Maroon Goons” as we call them.

But talk is cheap, and the players who take the field this weekend will determine the final results. And even though the Aggies remain a slim four-point favorite as of Thursday, the Hurricanes and second-year HC Mario Cristobal are looking for revenge after falling 17-9 in Kyle Field last fall.

Ahead of Week 2, here are the five Texas A&M players to watch before the Aggies face Miami.

Five storylines to watch as Texas A&M takes on Miami in Week 2

From the play-caller battle to an x-factor matchup in the trenches, here are the storylines to keep an eye on as Texas A&M gears up to face Miami.

After Texas A&M‘s high-octane offense was on display in a 52-10 thrashing of New Mexico to open the season, it’s time to take the show on the road to South Beach.

The Aggies will face the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, Sep. 9 at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC, and the matchup will mark a sequel to last year’s 17-9 slugfest victory by the Maroon and White back at Kyle Field. In addition to the team’s two identical 1-0 records to date, both programs are looking to rebound from lackluster 5-7 campaigns in 2022.

Texas A&M enters as slight favorites based on the early betting odds, but make no mistake that the Aggies are in for their toughest non-conference matchup of the fall. Fans may not be treated to an easy blowout like Week 1, but picking up a win over Miami would mark a significant feat in the Aggies’ 2023 rebound efforts.

Here are the storylines to keep an eye on as Texas A&M gears up to face Miami this weekend.

Texas A&M OC Bobby Petrino has already proven his worth as the new play caller

It may just be one game, but after Texas A&M’s 52-10 season-opening win vs. New Mexico, new OC Bobby Petrino has already made an impact.

Texas A&M’s 52-10 opening season win vs. New Mexico was impressive nonetheless, and even though the Aggies did what they were supposed to do (beating a bad team by a large margin), the results were still notable.

New offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s exciting debut in the booth immediately paid dividends on the field as starting quarterback Conner Weigman threw for 236 yards on 18/2 passing for five touchdowns (a season opener record), which included a multitude of formations and pre-snap motion to throw off the Lobos play after play.

A part of the offense that has been missing under Fisher’s play calling in years past, Weigman consistently showed off his arm with the deep ball, as all five of his touchdowns went to the sophomore wide receiver duo of Noah Thomas (3) and Evan Stewart (2). While he needs to work on his touch, Weigman’s confidence in the pocket and quick release is something Petrino has to be excited about moving forward.

While the Aggie’s scheme looks to be much more quarterback-friendly, we only have one game under Petrino’s offensive guidance to go off of. Still, I do expect the up-tempo game plan to stick throughout the season to keep the offense in rhythm and further produce explosive plays in the passing game because no matter the matchup, Texas A&M’s elite wide receiver unit rivals any opposing defensive back group week to week.

Petrino’s brief and slightly humorous tantrum in the booth after wide receiver Moose Muhammad’s subbing mishap will get more media attention than it deserves, but if you want the actual perspective on how things went, look no further than Head Coach Jimbo Fisher’s take on his coaching debut:

“It was great. We were talking back and forth.”

“It was excellent. I had a lot of fun.”

Texas A&M will travel to Miami, Florida, to face the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, Sept. 9, which will air on ABC at 2:30 p.m. CT.
