Clemson Football’s 2024 Recruiting Class

Here is a look at Clemson football’s 2024 recruiting class after adding two preferred walk-on wide receivers.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff did a phenomenal job with their 2023 recruiting class and look to strike the same magic they did in 2023 with their 2024 class.

The 2024 class looks great on paper, and it looks like the class wrapped things up yesterday. The Tigers added two preferred walk-ons in wide receivers Parker Fulghum and Clark Sanderson, adding depth at wide receiver behind the two studs they have already in this class.

With these additions, we have a clean, full look at what Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class looks like as the program prepares for the 2024 season. Below is a look at each recruit in the Tigers’ 2024 class and where they are ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

12 Tigers in the final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 class

12 Tigers landed in Rivals final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 recruiting class.

For some teams, recruiting means a lot. For a team like Clemson, it means that much more.

Modern college football is very different from what some of us remember growing up. Year after year, the game changes and differs from what we once knew. Right now, the transfer portal is going wild as teams use the portal to build their teams. Each team is different with the transfer portal, but if you look at a team like Florida State from 2023, a majority of a team’s starting lineup can come directly through the portal.

That is not the case for Clemson, who simply doesn’t use the transfer portal often (or even at all, depending on the season). Therefore, recruiting means everything for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program. Luckily for Clemson fans, Swinney and his staff are great at recruiting.

Rivals recently released their final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 class, with 12 Tigers making the rankings. Here is a look at each of those Tigers and where they rank.

Where Clemson ranks in ESPN’s updated 2024 recruiting class rankings

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff are building a strong 2024 recruiting class.

The Clemson football program year after year recruits with the best of the best, and things are not changing in the 2024 recruiting class.

ESPN does their class recruiting rankings a little differently than others, updating them far less than 247Sports or On3, whose class rankings are regularly updated as commitments are announced. ESPN recently released their updated class rankings ($), with Clemson just outside of the top ten, ranking No.11.

“The Tigers have built a strong foundation for their 2024 class with several ESPN 300 commitments, including one of the top TE prospects in Christian Bentancur. He can be a well-rounded playmaker with his size (6-5, 240), aggressiveness as a blocker and hands and body control as a receiver. Bryant Wesco is a sharp route runner from Texas who can create separation and get open with his quickness. Landing Sammy Brown out of Georgia was a huge pickup. A well-rounded five-star athlete who excels in wrestling and track, Brown can be a sideline-to-sideline playmaking presence. Noah Dixon is a safety with good ball skills who can also support the run well with his tackling abilities. Tavoy Feagin out of Florida is another nice four-star addition to the secondary, as he is a corner with excellent quickness who is also not afraid to mix it up and be physical.”

The Tigers currently have 17 commits in the 2024 class, headlined by five stars Sammy Brown and Bryant Wesco. They have the second-highest-ranked class in the ACC right now, with Florida State ahead with the No.6 ranked class.

More work still needs to be done, but this has been an excellent start for Swinney and his coaching staff.

Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class so far grouped by position

Here is a look at all 17 current Clemson commits in the 2024 class grouped by their positions.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program have been among the top teams recruiting in the 2024 class as the Tigers look to remain one of the elite programs in college football.

Headlined by two five-star recruits in linebacker Sammy Brown and wide receiver Bryant Wesco, the Tigers have future stars ready to make an impact for the Tigers in this class. The most recent commitment in the class came from four-star cornerback Corian Gipson, who committed to the Tigers Saturday, choosing Clemson over top competitor Texas.

Now ranked the No.6 class in On3’s 2024 industry team recruiting class rankings, the Tigers have talent committed across multiple positions of need in this class. Here is a look at all 17 recruits committed to Clemson right now grouped by their position.

Coach Speak: Clemson making a move with 4-star Peach State safety

Even before midnight struck on Sept. 1, when college coaches across the country could have direct contact with junior prospects, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had a scheduled call with a priority safety prospect in the class of 2024.

According to Troup County (Lagrange, Ga.) head coach Tanner Glisson, Swinney spoke with junior four-star safety Noah Dixon, who Clemson offered back on June 1.

“I just think those guys have definitely shown a very strong interest and he’s been up there before on campus and made relationships with coaches,” Glisson told The Clemson Insider Wednesday. “I think it’s a situation that he sees that fits him really well in what he’s looking for. I think he’s pretty excited about potentially looking at them as being the school that he goes to.”

Glisson thinks that Swinney’s willingness to set up a call with Dixon just hours before Clemson could directly reach out shows just how much of a priority he is to them.

“I think it’s showing a big-time priority,” Glisson said. “I know Coach (Mickey) Conn will be at our game this Friday. Obviously, he can only pick one game to go to pretty much and coming right out of the gate in the contact period, he’s choosing to come to Troup to watch him play. I think that immediately shows that he’s a high priority for (them).”

Dixon will be in attendance for Clemson’s season opener against Georgia Tech on Monday night, but Glisson said that it will be on the Yellow Jackets’ dime. It’s pretty convenient for Dixon with the game being at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, as Georgia Tech is another school that’s recruiting Dixon hard.

“It’s kind of a win-win for Georgia Tech and Clemson,” he said.

Dixon will almost certainly get up to Tiger Town for a game day visit at Memorial Stadium this fall. Glisson said that he spoke with Clemson’s co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach on the phone Wednesday and that they’re already looking at some dates to get him up there.

“Absolutely. 100%. He and Noah kind of mesh pretty well,” Glisson said of Conn. “They have similar personalities. They have similar belief systems. I think they mesh really, really good.”

“Noah’s mama was able to go up when he visited up at Clemson,” Glisson added. “I think Coach Conn and Coach Swinney and all those guys made a really good impression on mama. And Coach Hall as well. Lemanski Hall is from Lannett, Alabama, which is only 15 minutes from here. They have tremendous presence where we are.”

Conn, who will be in attendance for Troup County’s game against Callaway High School on Friday, will have a chance to watch Dixon, who is off to a great start to his junior campaign in just his second season of high school football.

“He’s played really well,” Glisson said of Dixon. “We’re off to a 2-0 start. I think the thing about it is, that he has a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion — that he caught playing wide receiver. But, from a defensive standpoint, he’s got several tackles. A lot of teams are just not throwing in his direction. They see him on one side of the field and they choose to go the other way, which is a good thing for us, as far as having somebody who takes away half the field. He’s gotten off to a good start. He’s gotten better and better. The thing is, he has all this year, plus another year. So, we’re looking for big things.”

The Clemson Insider was back on hand for Day 4 of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Saturday, June 11. Here are our notes and observations from the afternoon session of Saturday’s Swinney Camp.

  • When we arrived back on campus for the afternoon session of Saturday’s Swinney Camp, both Troup County (Lagrange, Ga.) four-star edge rusher Qua Birdsong and four-star safety Noah Dixon had arrived for the afternoon. When Clemson formally turned the page to offering prospects in the 2024 class on June 1, Dixon was the first rising junior to report an offer from the Tigers.
  • One prospect that we paid a lot of attention to was Meadowcreak (Norcross, Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Champ Thompson, who also arrived this afternoon. After visiting Clemson in March, the nation’s No. 15 defensive end in the class of 2024 (Rivals) was back on campus to participate in Saturday’s Swinney Camp.
    • Also keeping a close eye on Thompson was Nick Eason. Clemson’s defensive tackles coach paid attention to detail and often motivated Thompson through his drills.
    • Champ’s father, Michael, is a former player himself. He starred at Tennessee State University before being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL draft.
  • Hodgenville (Ky.) Larue County’s Cutter Boley was back again to throw Saturday afternoon. We mentioned in our observation earlier that Boley — a class of 2025 recruit with offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, West Virginia and others — impressed us during the morning session. That continued this afternoon.
  • We can also tell you that Pike Road (Ala.) 2024 three-star defensive Malik Blocton and his family were also on hand this afternoon. He arrived on a golf cart, along with Eason and was also the focal point of his attention, along with

Coach Speak: Elite Georgia safety ‘ecstatic’ about Clemson offer

In search of more details on the new safety offer that Clemson handed out Wednesday, The Clemson Insider spoke with the head coach of Troup County (Lagrange, Ga.) four-star Noah Dixon.

Tanner Glisson spoke at length with TCI Wednesday afternoon about Dixon, whom Rivals considers to be the No. 5 safety and the nation’s No. 84 overall prospect regardless of position in the class of 2024.

“First of all, we kind of knew this was coming, so it did not surprise us,” Glisson said. “Based on how we’ve done business with Clemson in the past, this is not new to us. Sometimes it takes a little while for the 2024s to be offered and their target date to offer him was always June 1.

“We were excited to get it. Noah, it wasn’t typical of him to be as excited as he was. He’s pretty much a low-key, even-keel guy, but he was very, very excited about the offer. That’s saying a whole lot about where people stand in my book with him. He’s almost got an offer from everybody in the country, so to get one from Clemson today and him to be as ecstatic as he was, kind of leads me to believe where Clemson ranks up on his priority list.”

Dixon will be back at Clemson on June 11.

Even though he’s already earned the offer, Dixon will be participating in the Dabo Swinney Camp next Saturday, according to Glisson.

“We had some very blunt conversations with the Clemson staff and they led us to believe that they were only offering a handful of 2024 safeties right now and this is a committable deal,” Glisson said. “So at any time he wants to commit, Clemson would accept his commitment.

“I think Noah and his family like the way that Clemson does business. For him to go up there and camp, he just wants to get better and he wants to get coached by those guys. And if that turns out to be where he goes, he wants to go ahead and start building that football relationship.”

That speaks to Dixon’s character.

“He’s a tremendous teammate and the captain of our team,” Glisson said. “He’s a quiet leader, he can be vocal when needed, but he’s just a kid that lives with so high expectations of himself. His family is just a really great family. He’s had two or three siblings that have graduated from Ivy League schools. He’s the total definition of a student-athlete.”

Glisson didn’t want to speak for Dixon, but he wanted to show that side of him and how serious he is about academics. Dixon will camp at each of Clemson, Georgia and Alabama. He’ll also travel to California in September, to see Stanford host Southern Cal this fall.

“He probably has offers from most teams in the country and I think Clemson is gonna be high up there, but also Stanford because of Stanford’s academics,” Glisson said. “I think Georgia and Alabama will probably be in there too.”

“I would think that Clemson’s right up there at the top, if not at the top,” he continued. “They had a really good time up there when they took his mama and they saw Coach (Dabo) Swinney and those guys. It was good.”
