Lakers at Knicks: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

The Los Angeles Lakers are playing the New York Knicks for the first time this season on Monday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers shocked several bettors on Saturday night as they turned out a dominant 126-101 performance against the Brooklyn Nets in a game they entered as 11-point underdogs. The Nets had been a dominant team all season long, but the Lakers have been making a habit of covering the spread as of late even without their star players.

The bettors have reacted to their great performance on Saturday night and they come into the game as much more of an equal in Monday night’s showdown against the Knicks.

  • Point spread: Knicks -2
  • Money line: Knicks -135 / Lakers +110
  • Over-under: 206.5

Advice and prediction

My first piece of advice for this game is that this looks like a defensive struggle on paper. An over-under of 206.5 seems like it might be dangerous, but considering the Lakers caught fire against the Nets and the Knicks struggle to score in general, the under seems like a safe play.

The Lakers are probably feeling really good after their last win and they also got the good news that their two superstars will be back soon. So now is high time to audition for a spot in the rotation before the playoffs. The Lakers defense will remind everyone why they are No. 1 again tonight in a tiny upset.

Prediction: Lakers 100, Knicks 94

Signings and trades Titans should explore ahead of NFL draft

If the Titans want to make more upgrades, there are options still available to them via trades or signings.

After three-plus weeks of free agency, and with the 2021 NFL draft a little over two weeks away, the Tennessee Titans need to keep trying to fill their biggest needs on both sides of the ball.

Thankfully, there are still several options for the team to explore other than just waiting for the draft, whether that be via trade or free-agent signings.

The team’s biggest needs ahead of the draft are at cornerback, wide receiver, right tackle, tight end, and defensive line, whether that be at the end or nose tackle spot.

With all that in mind, here’s a look at eight moves the Titans could make to improve their roster, which would also relieve their dependence on getting immediate upgrades in what is the crapshoot called the NFL draft.

Of course, the Titans can’t make all of these moves and might have to move some money around to make a signing work, but pulling off just one of these signings and/or trades would be a step in the right direction.

Rockets at Suns: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Though Houston kept it close versus Phoenix last week, the Rockets are massive underdogs (-13) in the desert on Monday night.

The Houston Rockets finish up their three-game road trip with a visit to Phoenix on Monday night to face the Suns, led by the All-Star guard duo of Devin Booker and Chris Paul. If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

Monday’s game tips off at 9 p.m. Central and can be seen on Houston’s local television affiliate, AT&T SportsNet Southwest.

The rebuilding Rockets (14-39) played well last week at home, including a surprising victory over Dallas and a much closer-than-expected loss against these same Suns. However, they weren’t able to take that success with them on the road, as evidenced by a pair of resounding defeats over the weekend at Los Angeles (Clippers) and Golden State.

While Houston has the second-worst record in the Western Conference, Phoenix (37-15) is second-best in the West. They also enter Monday’s game with considerable momentum, having blown out Washington by 28 points (recap) on Saturday night.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Suns -12.5
  • Money line: Suns -800 / Rockets +550
  • Over-under: 227.5
  • Player point props (over or under): Devin Booker 28.5, Chris Paul 15.5, DeAndre Ayton 15.5, Mikal Bridges 12.5, Jae Crowder 10.5; John Wall 21.5, Christian Wood 19.5, Kevin Porter Jr. 14.5, Kelly Olynyk 12.5, Jae’Sean Tate 10.5

Advice and prediction

It seems doubtful that the Suns will take the Rockets lightly, given how close Houston came to defeating them seven days earlier. Houston will also be missing a key difference maker from that game, with veteran guard Sterling Brown — who shot 16 points on 85.7% shooting last Monday — out for Monday’s game with left knee soreness.

The Rockets will have John Wall in the lineup, which they did not in last week’s meeting versus the Suns. However, his presence wasn’t enough on Saturday at Golden State, and it may not be on Monday, either, against a Phoenix squad that should take the Rockets more seriously.

Prediction: Suns 125, Rockets 111

Are you digging this alternative Miami Dolphins uniform concept?

Are you digging this alternative Miami Dolphins uniform concept?

There’s been plenty of calls for the Miami Dolphins to make some decisions regarding their uniforms as of late. Specifically, it feels like most fans are hoping to see the team return to their roots and embrace the throwback look full time. The Dolphins have two separate versions of their throwback uniforms — enough to tease fans into hoping that it will be a permanent change.

But the modern logo doesn’t appear to be going anywhere any time soon. After all, it was a big move for team owner Stephen Ross when the team decided to rebrand their look into a sleek, modernized version of a classic look. So Miami budging back to the throwbacks full time feels like a bit of a long shot.

But what about a remodel of the new look? All Sports Culture is currently putting a new design on all 32 teams and their respective uniforms — and here’s what they cooked up for the AFC East.

What do you think, Dolphins fans? Are you in for a hybrid look of modern logo and some elements of the throwback kits all in one? The orange pants would be a new twist — but this isn’t the first time a designer has teased Dolphins fans with the introduction of an orange look, either. So long as the team doesn’t bring back the Color Rush creamsicle oranges from the 2010s, it’s at least worth debating, right?

Advice and prediction

Coming off their biggest win of the season, the Pelicans are decent favorites against the Cavaliers. The problem is that this team has not been consistent all season and typically follow big wins with frustrating losses. Take Cavs plus-6.5.

Prediction: Pelicans 115, Cavs 111

Lakers news: Anthony Davis could return in two weeks, LeBron in three

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday night that the Lakers are not far away from full strength.

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have to wait very long to get their superstars back in the lineup. While the Lakers shocked the basketball world last night by blowing out the Eastern Conference-leading Brooklyn Nets at Barclay’s Center, news broke that the Lakers could get at least one of their superstars back in the lineup before the end of the month.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported during Saturday night’s game that big man Anthony Davis could return to the floor within 10-to-14 days. Davis has been out since mid-February with a mix of Achilles tendinosis, which later resulted in a calf strain. But that’s not all. LeBron James is not far behind in his potential return from a high ankle sprain, which could come in three weeks, according to Woj’s sources.

So, the Lakers are coming off of their best win this season and their two newest additions look like they will be ready to contribute to a title defense. Once they get their stars back, talking about a title defense will be even more real. Also, the Lakers who have been playing deserve credit for keeping the Lakers in the top-six in the West where they can avoid the dreaded play-in tournament.

BetMGM gives Ohio State basketball good odds to be in the mix for a national title next season

As we look ahead to next season for the Ohio State basketball team, BetMGM believes the Buckeyes will be in the mix for a national title.

The Ohio State basketball season came to an abrupt end with a thud heard around the college basketball universe. The Buckeyes became just the ninth No. 2 seed in the history of the NCAA Tournament to lose to a No. 15 seed. This, after it looked like the Buckeyes were finishing with a strong kick by making a run to the Big Ten championship game.

And, now that the season has finished with Baylor cutting down the nets, we’re starting to get some future odds for teams expected to be in contention next season. OSU has a significant amount of talent coming back as long as both Duane Washington and E.J. Liddell put off dreams of grandeur in the NBA and come back to Columbus for another season. The Buckeyes should be able to build on what occurred this year and are getting a lot of attention in all the way-too-early predictions for the 2021-2022 season.

Count the popular BetMGM Sportsbook in that camp as well. It has released future odds for next year’s national champion and Ohio State is right on the mix, with a tie for the sixth-best odds to take home the title at +1600.

The five teams ahead of the Buckeyes are Gonzaga (+600), Michigan (+800), Baylor (+1200), Duke (+1200), and Florida State (+1200). Rounding out the top ten includes a couple of teams tied with OSU with the same odds — UCLA (+1600) and Villanova (+1600), followed by Alabama (+2000) and Illinois (+2000).

Odds courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook.

We must note that there are still a lot of unknowns with all the players opting to go through the NBA draft process and what happens from there, so this can (and will) most likely change as we sort all of that out and rosters become more of a definitive thing.

Rockets at Warriors: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Saturday’s Rockets-Warriors game.

The Houston Rockets continue their road trip with a stop in San Francisco on Saturday night to play Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on AT&T SportsNet Southwest and NBC Sports Bay Area.

Both the Rockets and Warriors are finishing a back-to-back and looking to rebound from a loss. Houston was blown out in the second quarter by the Clippers and went on to lose by 17, while the Warriors lost a heartbreaker to a Bradley Beal four-point play.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Warriors -9
  • Money line: Warriors -450 / Rockets +333
  • Over-under: 226.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

With John Wall expected to return to the lineup after missing Friday’s game for injury management, I expect a Rockets performance closer to the one that delivered a win over Luka Doncic and the Mavericks on Wednesday. The Warriors should also be slightly demoralized over their loss to Washington, and nine points is a big line for this Warriors team to cover.

Golden State beat the Rockets by 14 on March 17 but are 3-8 against the spread since. I like Houston to stick around on Saturday. Take the Rockets plus-9.

Prediction: Warriors 118, Rockets 113
