How many no-hitters have there been in MLB history? Here’s the answer

Here’s how many MLB no-hitters have been thrown in league history.

Ah, the no-hitter. It’s a feat that’s nearly as tough as the perfect game, but it’s one that’s happened much more than the 24 and counting times it’s been 27 up, 27 down.

That’s right, you can have a walk or an error happen and still pitch a no-hitter! So if you’re here, you might be wondering: how many no-hitters have been thrown in MLB history? Want to guess before the number gets thrown out?

Go ahead!

Ready? OK!

As of publishing this, there have been 325 no-hitters in the history of Major League Baseball. We’ll update this when another one has been thrown!

Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo delivered a really special call for Dylan Cease’s spectacular no-hitter

Don Orsillo understood the assignment.

San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease threw an astounding no-hitter in his team’s game against the Washington Nationals on Thursday.

Cease’s spectacular day on the mound has only been accomplished one other time for the Padres, as he joins pitcher Joe Musgrove’s 2021 no-hitter for San Diego in the San Diego history books.

Padres play-by-play announcer Don Orsillo delivered an absolutely wonderful broadcast call once Cease cemented his no-hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning, one that features some nifty alliteration if you can spot it.

As this is a thrilling day in Padres history, Orsillo gave San Diego fans plenty to celebrate with this great broadcast call to go along with Cease’s no-hitter.

Tigers closer Alex Lange dropped a funny expletive after team combined for a historic no-hitter

Alex Lange hilariously let a bad word slip on-air while he was celebrating the Tigers’ combined no-hitter.

Detroit Tigers closer Alex Lange couldn’t contain his uncensored excitement after helping his team throw a combined no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Lange combined for the no-hitter with his fellow Tigers pitchers Matt Manning and Jason Foley in the 2-0 home victory.

It’s only the ninth no-hitter in Detroit history and the first combined no-hitter, making the day’s achievement all the more special.

While the Tigers have had a down season with a 39-49 record as of Saturday, it’s never the wrong moment for a team to throw a combined no-hitter.

The Detroit celebration and broadcast call just showed what a cathartic moment this was for a team that could use more of this.

Lange got so excited after the big victory that he dropped an expletive on live television, which came with a very funny apology to the broadcast audience.

Some NSFW language to follow.

Can you blame Lange for being so excited?

This was a career moment for him, and sometimes, you just say what’s on your heart (even if it’s not necessarily appropriate for television).

Wade Miley pitched his no-hitter after his son gave him a Hulk tattoo

That temporary tattoo might become permanent if superstition has anything to say about it.

Wade Miley threw baseball’s second no-hitter in three days, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians on Friday night in what Miley called a “surreal” moment.

Miley, who carried a perfect game into the sixth winning, walked one and struck out eight on 114 pitches.

After the game, Miley credited his four-year old son, Jeb, who he allowed to give him a temporary tattoo of the Hulk on his left forearm before the game against the Indians. He told Bally Sports Ohio that he might consider making it a more permanent thing.

“I’ve got to give a little shout-out, my son made me wear this Hulk tattoo on my forearm,” Miley said. “I might have to get the real Hulk tattoo.”

If not for the memory of his no-hitter, for the superstition of it all.

Miley’s no-no was Major League Baseball’s fourth no-hitter this season, and interestingly enough, the second no-hitter against the Indians this season, which last happened to Seattle in 2019.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, this is the earliest in a calendar year where there were been four no-hitters since 1917 and the second season in MLB history to have four no-hitters before the end of May.
