Nick Ward has broken a cool record at the professional ranks

Nick Ward had an up and down career at Michigan State, but one thing was for certain, he was always a great scorer for the Spartans basketball program.

Since leaving MSU, Ward has bounced around a little bit in the professional ranks, but has found a home with the Vancouver Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Ward has made history himself, breaking the franchises all-time scoring record.

Nick Ward will be playing in Canada this summer

From 2016-19, Nick Ward was a vital member of the Michigan State basketball team, before he started his pro career that has seen him play in the G-League, Israel, Turkey, Spain, and recently, he has been a fixture of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Ward last played in the Canadian Elite Basketball League with the Ottawa Blackjacks, but now, he will be joining the Vancouver Bandits, who announced his signing this week:

Nick Ward took to Twitter to announce what he thinks are his four favorite plays from his Michigan State playing days are.

Former Michigan State forward Nick Ward spent three years in the green and white, which culminated in an appearance in the 2019 final four. Ward gave Michigan State a little bit of everything on the court, and was a very productive member to the program.

Since leaving Michigan State, Ward has spent time playing professional basketball in the NBA G-League, Europe and now Canada.

Ward took to Twitter, partnering with Big Ten Network’s Michigan State page, to deliver what he says are his four favorite plays from his college career.

Michigan State basketball alum Nick Ward signs with Canadian basketball team

Former Spartan Nick Ward will be heading to the Canadian Elite Basketball League to play for the Ottawa BlackJacks.

A Michigan State basketball alum has found a new home. It was announced on Friday that Nick Ward is signing with the Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

After going undrafted in 2019, Ward played for the Atlanta Hawks Summer League team that summer before heading to the Israeli Basketball League. He then went to the Turkish Basketball League before landing with the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League where he averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Ward’s last stop was in the Turkish Basketball First League where he played with Istanbul Basket.

Michigan State alums Nick Ward, Javon Bess lead Big X to first round win in The Basketball Tournament

Ward led team Big X in scoring with 18 points.

Real live competitive basketball is back in the United States and two former Spartans are making early waves.

Former MSU basketball players Nick Ward and Javon Bess helped lead team Big X to a first-round 79 to 74 win over team D2–comprised of former D2 players–in The Basketball Tournament, a $1 million winner-take-all single-elimination summer basketball tournament. Ward, a rookie center for the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G-League, led the way on offense, scoring a team-high 18 points to go with his five rebounds. Bess, who plays professionally for the Erie Bayhawks of the G-League, turned in a solid all-around performance with 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Team Big X, the nine seed, advances to play Red Scare, the eight seed. Red Scare is comprised of a number of former Dayton basketball players.

Also taking part in the tournament are MSU alums Brendan Dawson and Brandon Wood. Those two will suit up for the No. 14 seed Team Heartfire. They take on Men of Mackey–a team made up of a number of Purdue alum–in the first round on Sunday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN.

The Basketball Tournament is a thrilling 5-on-5, winner takes all tournament for a grand prize of $2 million. Today, we learned former Michigan State basketball Forward Nick Ward signed with the Big Ten alumni squad, Team Big X.

Ward joins Ohio State alumni Andrew Dakich and Andre & Kaleb Wesson on Team Big X.

Ward scored a remarkable 1,350 career points during his three-year tenure at Michigan State. He was also a part of the memorable 2019 Final Four run. Last season, he played for the Atlanta Hawks G-League affiliate team, the College Park Skyhawks, averaging 13.2 points per game.

Nick Ward is not the only former Spartan in this tournament. Branden Dawson & Brandon Wood both joined Team Heartfire less than 10 days ago. Also, former MSU guards Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers both signed with Team Detroit earlier this month.

Yesterday, Myron Medcalf of ESPN reported that The Basketball Tournament is set still set for July.
