ACC transfer guard puts Tigers, Gamecocks in final two

Clemson could add a transfer to its roster in the coming days after an ACC guard put the Tigers in his top two.

Clemson and South Carolina have always competed to be the top dog in the Palmetto State. Now the rivalry has snuck its way into the transfer portal, with Boston College transfer guard Brevin Galloway putting the Tigers and Gamecocks in his final two.

Scoring 8.3 points per game on 30.8% from the field last season, the 6-foot-2 senior entered the portal on April 11. Suffering multiple injuries in his career, he has played in 29 combined games in the past two seasons.

Brother of former Clemson tight end Braden Galloway, Brevin Galloway already has a history with the Tigers, as he hit a game-winning 3-pointer against Clemson in Littlejohn Coliseum last year.

With Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn de-committing from the Tigers, Brevin Galloway could be a vital addition for Clemson head coach Brad Brownell, who lost guards Nick Honor and Al-Amir Dawes to the portal.

Clemson lands three-star 2022 point guard

Clemson men’s basketball added a fourth, highly-touted recruit to its 2022 class on Wednesday.

In an offseason with plenty of turnover and unexpected twists, Clemson men’s basketball added a 2022 three-star recruit to its incoming freshman class on Wednesday.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Dillon Hunter, brother of current Clemson guard Chase Hunter, has committed to Clemson. Out of Wichita, Kansas, Hunter is the No. 127 overall prospect, according to On3 2022 Consensus.

The 6-foot-3 guard chose the Tigers over five other schools, including Baylor, Auburn and Georgia. Dillon Hunter signed a letter of intent to Baylor in November but decommitted on April 18, just two days before the move to the Tigers.

Dillon Hunter’s commitment helps alleviate the hole left behind by former Clemson guards Nick Honor and Al-Amir Dawes, who both entered the transfer portal after last season. The Tigers were thought to have added Princeton transfer guard Jaelin Llewellyn a week ago, but Llewellyn announced his recruitment reopening on Tuesday.

With the addition of Dillon Hunter, Clemson now has four members of its 2022 recruiting class, which includes three-star forward RJ Godfrey and three-star guard Chauncey Gibson.

Transfer point guard backs out of joining Clemson

Six days after Clemson added a first-team-all-Ivy League point guard, he has now reopened his recruitment.

Transfer Jaelin Llewellyn has reopened his recruitment six days after Clemson basketball officially announced the addition of the former Princeton point guard.

“I am still considering Clemson as my home for next year, but due to recent changes, my family and I have decided to reopen my recruitment in order to reconsider the best options,” Llewellyn said on Twitter.

As a first-team-all-Ivy League guard last season, Llewellyn averaged 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game while shooting nearly 45% from the field and 39% from three.

The announcement comes days after Clemson lost the second assistant coach this offseason in Kareem Richardson, who is moving to North Carolina State. The first assistant on the move was Antonio Reynolds Dean, who was with the Tigers for the past five years and left for Georiga on April 12.

With the loss of former Clemson guards Nick Honor and Al-Amir Dawes, Llewellyn reopening his recruitment adds salt to a wound the Tigers had started to heal.

Former Clemson point guard transfers to Missouri

One of Clemson basketball’s transfers has selected a new team.

Former Clemson point guard Nick Honor has transferred to the University of Missouri, as he announced on his Instagram on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-10 senior chose Missouri over SMU and Minnesota after narrowing his list down to those three teams on April 8.

In 33 games with the Tigers last season, Honor averaged 7.7 points and 2.4 assists per game. The 5-foot-10 guard transferred from Fordham to Clemson in 2019 and will now join his third team in his career.

The announcement comes six days after Clemson added Princeton transfer guard Jaelin Llewellyn, who will alleviate Honor’s departure.

“Maybe they’ll get the message this time around.. Committed to the University of Missouri,” Honor wrote on his Instagram.

Along with Honor, former Clemson guard Al-Amir Dawes entered the transfer portal on April 5 and has yet to select a new team.

A Clemson guard who recently entered the transfer portal has revealed where he will finish his collegiate career.

Point guard Nick Honor is headed to Missouri. Honor, who started 35 games over the last two seasons with the Tigers, announced his decision to transfer to the SEC program Tuesday via social media.

Honor, who originally began his career at Fordham, averaged 7.7 points and more than two assists in 33 games this past season. He’s one of two former Clemson guards (Al-Amir Dawes) that have entered the transfer portal this offseason.

Clemson has found at least one replacement in the portal so far in former Princeton guard Jaelin Llewellyn, who signed with the Tigers last week.

Clemson transfer Nick Honor narrows list down to three teams

One of Clemson’s guards in the transfer portal has narrowed down his list to three teams.

After entering the transfer portal and gaining interest from 10 teams, Clemson transfer point guard Nick Honor has trimmed his list down to three teams.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Honor has narrowed his potential new team down to Minnesota, SMU and Missouri. Honor previously had South Carolina interested in him, but he will not become a Gamecock barring any changes.

In 33 games with the Tigers last season, Honor averaged 7.7 points and 2.4 assists per game. The 5-foot-10 guard transferred from Fordham to Clemson in 2019 and will now join his third team in his career.

Along with Honor, Clemson guard Al-Amir Dawes has also entered the portal, severely diminishing the Tigers’ guard depth for next season.

Clemson’s men’s basketball team is set to lose another significant piece of its backcourt.

Al-Amir Dawes, a multi-year starter, has entered the transfer portal, a team spokesperson confirmed to The Clemson Insider. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound guard started 25 of the 33 games he played this past season as a junior, averaging 11.3 points per game. His 39.8% clip from 3-point range was also tops on the team.

He’s the second Clemson player to enter the portal since the end of the season, joining fellow guard Nick Honor.

Clemson point guard receiving interest from South Carolina in portal

After entering the transfer portal, Nick Honor is receiving interest from South Carolina.

After two seasons of play with the Tigers, point guard Nick Honor entered the transfer portal in hopes of finding a new home, and now, South Carolina may be a potential landing spot.

According to John Rothstein of CBS Sports, Honor has received interest from the Gamecocks and nine other teams. Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, and South Florida are among the nine others.

Originally at Fordham, Honor transferred to Clemson in 2019 and was forced to sit out of the 2019-2020 season because of NCAA eligibility rules.

The 5-foot-10 playmaker has had flashes of brilliance with the Tigers, one of which came on Feb. 12, 2021, when he hit a game-winning 3-pointer against Georgia Tech with 1.1 seconds remaining.

Ultimately, however, Honor floated in and out of the starting lineup over the past two seasons and couldn’t be a consistent scorer. In 33 games this past season, Honor averaged 7.7 points and 2.4 assists per game.

If Honor does become a Gamecock, it will only bring more drama to the rivalry between the two in-state schools.

A former Clemson starter, who recently entered the NCAA transfer portal, is reportedly receiving interest from South Carolina.

The Gamecocks are among the teams interested in former Tiger guard Nick Honor, according to CBS Sports College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein on Twitter.

In addition to South Carolina, Honor told Rothstein that he’s receiving interest from Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Cal, SMU, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, South Florida and Grand Canyon.

Former Clemson basketball standout Aamir Simms is fine with his former teammate landing at any of the aforementioned schools — just not rival South Carolina.

“He better not go to university little bro,” Simms posted on Twitter, in response to Rothstein’s tweet. “anywhere but there”

Honor, the Tigers’ starting point guard in 25 of 33 games this past season, averaged 7.7 points and had a team-best 79 assists. He shot 32.5% from 3-point range, a career-low for the 5-foot-10, 195-pounder.

Honor has averaged 10.6 points and 2.5 points during his college career, which began at Fordham. Honor spent three seasons at Clemson after transferring in following the 2018-19 season.
