Four-star OL Nick Brooks announces commitment

Nick Brooks, a four-star offensive lineman out of the Peach State, announced his choice between Georgia, Texas, and Southern Cal.

After announcing his top three teams earlier this month, four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks revealed his choice on Friday afternoon. Brooks committed to the Texas Longhorns, choosing Steve Sarkisian’s team over Georgia and USC.

Brooks was long seen as a Bulldog lean, but he had begun trending heavily toward Texas in recent days.

He is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches and 345 pounds. He played his junior year at Kennedy High in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before transferring to Grayson High in Loganville, Georgia, for this season. He is the 14th-rated tackle in the nation and 20th-rated player in Georgia.

Brooks’ commitment gives the Longhorns a much-needed recruiting victory in a class that has started somewhat slower than those of recent years. They are 12th nationally and eighth in the SEC.

The Bulldogs are fourth nationally, trailing only Ohio State, Alabama and LSU, respectively, on the 247Sports’ team recruiting composite. Georgia holds commitments from four offensive lineman in the class of 2025.

On Friday night, the Texas Longhorns got a big win on the recruiting trail. Four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks committed to Texas over Georgia and USC. He was ranked as the No. 208 player in the nation, the No. 17 offensive tackle, and the No. 30 player in Georgia, according to On3.

With Brooks’s commitment, the Longhorns have five offensive linemen in their 2025 class. The Texas native is the highest rated and has the highest ceiling. While Georgia was seen as the favorite a few weeks ago, Texas has been hard at recruiting Brooks, which has paid off.

One of the main reasons Brooks chose the Longhorns is the opportunity to contribute to immediately.

“The No. 1 thing for me is the chance to play and compete for early playing time,” Brooks told On3. “NIL is important too, and that would be No. 2 on my list. Then, it comes down to relationships, family, and how I feel about the school. Family is very important to me, so that family feeling and what school makes me and my family feel best will be a factor.”

While his college debut is over a year away, excitement is building over what Brooks will accomplish once he sets foot on campus. He has the talent to be an elite player and should be a mainstay on the offensive line.

Over the next few weeks, the Longhorns will be busy as they look to add to their 2025 class. However the addition of Brooks is a major win for the program.

Nick Brooks chooses Texas over USC.

Nick Brooks, a 2025 offensive lineman, has announced his college commitment, which came down to USC football, Texas and Georgia. Brooks has committed to Texas. He chose the Longhorns in this three-school competition.

This is what the 6-foot-8 and 355-pound offensive tackle from Grayson High School had to say on Steve Sarkisian and the Texas program:

“It’s just the family, the overall family atmosphere, NIL, the coaching staff. It was a lot of things. I just feel myself being there emotionally and physically. I can see the people that I’m working with. The players, they’re calling me to check on me, even the QBs. Not many guys are talking to the QBs.”Brooks told 247Sports.

Four-star offensive tackle Nick Brooks sets commitment date

Four star offensive tackle Nick Brooks has set his commitment date for August 23rd and revealed his final three schools.

In a week, the Texas Longhorns could add another name to their recruiting haul. Four star offensive tackle Nick Brooks has set his commitment date for August 23rd and revealed his final three schools. His list includes Georgia, USC and Texas. The Georgia native took official visits over the summer to all programs.

Brooks would be a perfect fit for a Longhorns program looking for help on the offensive line due to his immense stature and ability to shift his weight to accommodate the run game. While Georgia is viewed by many as the favorite, the Longhorns have made some strides as decision day approaches.

If the Longhorns were able to land the Grayson High School product, he would become the program’s 18th commitment from the 2025 class. Texas has the 12th-best recruiting class and has made a good impression on Brooks.

“I had great official visits to all three schools, and all three schools have done a great job recruiting me,” Brooks told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month. “I am close to committing to one of them.”

Over the next week, Brooks will be a player many in Austin will keep an eye on. The Longhorns have landed a few talented receivers this month, and adding a player like Brooks to the mix would strengthen the offense line and give the wide receivers more time to get open.

Regardless of what Brooks decides, it is a good sign for Texas that they are one of the final schools in the mix.

2025 4-star Cedar Rapids OT Nick Brooks decommits from Iowa

The Iowa Hawkeyes received the unfortunate news that Cedar Rapids native and four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks has decommitted.

The Iowa Hawkeyes took a bit of a crushing blow with recent news that one of, if not the top recruit from the 2025 class, announced that he has decommitted from Iowa.

Nick Brooks, a four-star offensive lineman recruit from nearby Cedar Rapids, Iowa, took to X to announce that he has decommitted from the Iowa Hawkeyes and is opening up his recruitment.

This loss has some extra sting for the Hawkeyes and their faithful after the Kadyn Proctor debacle last year that saw him flip his decision to Alabama at the last minute. While Iowa isn’t out of the running on Brooks, this isn’t a place that they wanted to find themselves.

“After talking with my family, I will be decomitting from the University of Iowa… My recruitment is still open 100%,” Brooks wrote on X.

Brooks is among the top offensive tackles in the country and has been viewed by some recruiting outlets as the top recruit in the state of Iowa, a territory that the Hawkeyes pride themselves on owning.

Iowa sits with the No. 29 recruiting class in 2025 right now per the 247Sports composite class rankings. This loss slid Iowa down in the rankings, but the larger issue that looms with news like this is what it could mean moving forward with talented offensive recruits.

Here’s a look at Brooks’ recruiting profile. Plus, a look at Iowa’s current 2025 outlook.
