Top 2025 OT target includes Hawkeyes in top 5 ahead of Friday commitment announcement

Ahead of his commitment decision on Friday, Cedar Rapids Kennedy offensive tackle Nick Brooks included the Iowa Hawkeyes in his top five.

One of Iowa’s top targets in the 2025 class, four-star offensive tackle Nick Brooks announced his top five schools.

As expected, the Cedar Rapids Kennedy prospect has the Iowa Hawkeyes among his final five. Iowa joins Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee in Brooks’ final five schools.

The 6-foot-8, 340 pound offensive tackle will announce his commitment decision on Friday, Sept. 8, which is also Brooks’ 17th birthday.

Previously at Buford High School in Georgia, Brooks announced he would be moving back to the Hawkeye State in April. That seemed to be a good sign for Iowa in this recruitment after its offer earlier in the month of April.

Judging by the pulse of recruiting experts, it looks like Iowa’s race to lose. Both Sean Bock and David Eickholt of Hawkeye Insider have had 247Sports crystal ball predictions in projecting Brooks to choose Iowa since early May.

UGA recruiting insider Ben Bachmann, The Knight Report publisher Richard Schnyderite and Go Iowa Awesome recruiting analyst Eliot Clough all have Rivals FutureCasts in forecasting Brooks to Iowa. Tom Kakert, the publisher of Hawkeye Report with On3, also has a prediction in for Brooks to Iowa.

Brooks is rated as a consensus four-star recruit by each of the four major recruiting services.

ESPN ranks Brooks as the nation’s No. 80 player overall, as the No. 12 offensive tackle and as the No. 1 player in the Hawkeye State. Rivals rates Brooks as the country’s 136th player overall, as the No. 12 offensive tackle and as the No. 1 player from Iowa.

Per On3, Brooks is regarded as the No. 156 player overall, as the No. 15 offensive tackle and as the top player in Iowa. Lastly, 247Sports ranks Brooks as the 157th player overall in the 2025 class, as the No. 15 offensive tackle and as the No. 2 player in Iowa.
