Titans had Zoom meeting with OL Nick Broeker

The Titans had a pre-draft Zoom meeting with Ole Miss OL Nick Broeker.

Add another 2023 NFL draft prospect to the list the Tennessee Titans have met with ahead of Thursday’s event.

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Titans and Ole Miss offensive lineman Nick Broeker met over Zoom recently. He has also met with the Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.

For more on the 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman, who figures to play at guard in the NFL, here’s Lance Zierlein of NFL.com’s write-up on him:

Guard prospect with average size who has the ability to punch above his weight as a run blocker. Broeker is limited as a move blocker but thrives when firing out and running his feet through contact to open lanes. He has very strong hands and consistently works to finish his blocks. His hand usage and inconsistent body control land his pass protection a few notches below his run blocking and those issues will take time to clean up. Broeker is a below-average athlete with above-average play strength and has the talent to become a starting guard in a downhill run scheme.

The Draft Network’s Keith Sanchez believes Broeker could go in the sixth round, where the Titans have one selection (No. 186 overall) via the Julio Jones trade with the Atlanta Falcons. Tennessee’s original sixth-round pick went to Los Angeles in the Robert Woods deal.

Lions 2023 draft: An offensive guard for every round

An offensive guard prospect for Detroit to consider in each round of the 2023 NFL draft

Up next in the draft series for 2023: the interior offensive linemen. The focus here is on guards, though some of the prospects listed across the draft rounds here might also fill in at center in a pinch.

The Lions are set in 2023 with Pro Bowl left guard Jonah Jackson and some combination of Halapoulivaati Vaitai and Graham Glasgow on the right side. They flank Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow, the NFL’s highest-paid interior lineman. There is long-term uncertainty at both guard spots, however; Jackson is entering the final season of his rookie contract, while Big V and Glasgow are both coming off serious injuries and on expiring contracts. There is almost no depth with any experience outside of brief, underwhelming appearances from Kayode Awosika, Logan Stenberg and Ross Pierschbacher (the reserve center).

Signing Graham Glasgow gives the Lions options on the offensive line

Here is one interior offensive line prospect that fits the Lions from each round of the draft. Detroit doesn’t currently have any picks in the fourth or seventh rounds, but players from those ranges are included because trades happen all the time during the draft weekend.

Lions 2023 draft: A cornerback for every round

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, just one from each range, in an effort to show the relative level of talent that should be available in those rounds.

Rams 2023 Draft Prospect Profile: Nick Broeker (IOL, Ole Miss)

Nick Broeker out of Ole Miss is a formidable IOL option in the mid-to-late rounds of the 2023 NFL draft.

Having a strong offensive line unit can lead to long-term success in the NFL. The Los Angeles Rams struggled with continuity and consistency in 2022 due to injuries and other factors, leading to them allowing 59 sacks (most in the Sean McVay era).

In the interior of the offensive line, the Rams have lost David Edwards and Austin Corbett in back-to-back offseasons, while Logan Bruss figures to compete for a role after missing his entire rookie campaign in 2022. Brian Allen agreed to a reworked deal with the Rams recently, but that shouldn’t prevent them from addressing the center spot if the opportunity becomes available.

If the Rams want to take an interior offensive lineman in the mid-to-late rounds of the 2023 NFL draft, Nick Broeker out of Ole Miss is worth a look.

2023 Lions mock draft: Post-free agent kickoff edition

After the first few days of free agency have altered the Detroit Lions roster and need list, it’s time for an updated mock draft

After the first few days of free agency have altered the Detroit Lions roster and need list, it’s time for an updated mock draft.

These projections are based off the current state of the Lions’ roster as of March 17th and the recent signings through K Michael Badgley.

The picks here are what I think the Lions might do with the picks in the given situation. They do not necessarily represent the choices I would make. For the first two picks, I ran three different draft simulators (PFF, PFN, Fanspeak) to try and build some level of baseline availability. If a player was gone on two of the three simulators, I considered them off the board.

For the first pick at No. 6, that ruled out C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Will Anderson. It led to some interesting projections.

10 Senior Bowl prospects who helped themselves as potential Lions this week

These Senior Bowl prospects rose up during practices and interviews in the eyes of the Detroit Lions.

The Senior Bowl wraps up the postseason all-star game circuit with 125 aspiring NFL draft prospects going through a week of practices, interviews and meetings. It’s a very important stop on the draft circuit, with heavy scouting representation from all 32 NFL teams as well as hundreds of media in attendance for the annual extravaganza in Mobile, Alabama.

From watching the practices inside Hancock Whitney Stadium, here are some of the players who stood out during the week as prospects who fit what the Detroit Lions appear to want or need to help bolster the roster in 2023 and beyond.

You can catch all these players in action in the Senior Bowl on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on the NFL Network.

Giants select two defenders in latest 2022 Touchdown Wire mock draft

In the latest two-round 2022 mock draft from Touchdown Wire, the New York Giants select two defenders and an offensive tackle.

With the 2021 NFL season still a month away, what could football fans be less interested in than a 2022 mock draft? Not so fast. NFL fans and pundits are always looking ahead and would be remiss if they weren’t aware of what was lies ahead on the horizon.

Luke Easterling of Draft Wire recent published his latest two-round 2022 NFL mock draft and for the New York Giants that means three picks. Here’s how Easterling sees things shaking out.

[vertical-gallery id=672142]

Round 1, Pick No. 8 – Christian Harris, LB Alabama

Fans have to be concerned if the Giants are picking this high. That means they had another losing season and failed to qualify for the postseason again. If that happens, there’s little chance they answer with a linebacker with their top pick. If they don’t win eight games and/or Daniel Jones shows no improvement, general manager Dave Gettleman will be gone and a new GM will be calling the shots. That would likely mean going in another direction at quarterback. This pick will be used to either draft one or trade for one, possibly Aaron Rodgers.

Round 1, Pick No. 10 (from Chicago) – Drake Jackson, EDGE, USC

Again, this presents an issue. This pick will not be used for a EDGE rusher if the Giants have another losing season. This would also mean that Azzez Ojulari and/or Elerson Smith busted as rookies. This pick will likely be part of a trade to move up in the draft order or in a trade for a veteran QB.

Round 2, Pick No. 40 – Nick Broeker, OT Ole Miss

This pick is contingent on what happens in Round 1. I’m never averse to taking an offensive tackle early in the draft but this selection tells me that one or both Andrew Thomas and Matt Peart busted. That means Gettleman is surely gone and who knows what the new GM has in mind.

I have no issues with the players Easterling has mocked to the Giants but it stands to reason that if they are drafting eighth, they won no more than six games in 2021 and if that happens John Mara is likely to blow this thing up. That would mean eight losing seasons out of the last nine and that just cannot the tolerated. The fans won’t stand for it.
