New Orleans went on to win 23-21 but failed to cover as a 4-point favorite.

The Giants lost to the Cleveland Browns 17-13 Sunday but the contest had very little juice as both teams sat their starting quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends and a plethora of defensive players. The new-look Jaguars suffered a 23-13 loss at home against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the preseason. Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, went 6-for-9 for 71 yards in his first taste of NFL game action.

Both C.J. Beathard and Jake Luton attempted more passes as they likely battle for the QB3 role behind Lawrence and Gardner Minshew (4-for-8, 47 yards).

Saints rookie QB Ian Book went 9-for-16 for 126 yards but with an interception in New Orleans’ 17-14 road loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week. QBs Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are expected to continue battling for the Saints’ QB1 role.

He finished with 128 passing yards and a touchdown. Third-string QB Josh Rosen played the bulk of the snaps under center and finished 10-for-15 for 93 yards with a pick.

The Chargers topped the Los Angeles Rams 13-6 as the official road team last week. Reigning Rookie of the Year QB Justin Herbert had the day off as veteran QB Chase Daniel went 15-for-24 for 104 yards in the slow-paced game.
