Why Cincinnati Bengals Will Win

The Bengals has to slow down the game and take advantage of every scoring opportunity.

There’s no Miami running game to worry about – the lousy Cincinnati run defense will get a bit of a break. As long as the secondary can keep Ryan Fitzpatrick – if Tua Tagovailoa can’t go – from getting into a groove and jump on the interception opportunities that will be there – he’ll give the Bengals a few key chances – they can slow down an offense that hasn’t done a whole lot over the last few weeks.

Why Miami Dolphins Will Win

The Cincinnati offense isn’t going to do much of anything.

With Joe Mixon injured, there’s no running game over the last few games, the passing attack went nowhere with no Joe Burrow last week, and the turnovers have been a killer with two or more in four of the last five games.

The Dolphins have allowed the second-fewest touchdown passes this year, Fitzpatrick and the passing game should be efficient against a shaky secondary, and as long as there aren’t a lot of giveaways, this can be a methodical win – Cincinnati will struggle to get 300 yards of total offense.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

TE Mike Gesicki, Miami 
There aren’t a ton of targets his way, but they’re steady, and he’s got a better rapport with Ryan Fitzpatrick – however, Tagovailoa is active. He caught two touchdown passes earlier in the year, and last week, he made just two grabs for 35 yards with a touchdown. Gesicki is a sneaky-good low-end play for a team without goal line running back to rely on.

What’s Going To Happen

The Miami defense will own this.

Cincinnati simply doesn’t have the offensive pop, it’ll be a struggle to get to 200 yards, and the Dolphins will come up with a conservative game with a few early scores to put this away relatively quickly.

Why Cleveland Browns Will Win

Tennessee might have Mr. Henry, but Cleveland has the better running game. The 1-2 punch of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt keep on cranking, hitting Jacksonville with 252 rushing yards as the Browns are on a three-game winning streak.

Can Cleveland slow down Derrick Henry? The run defense got beaten up for 209 yards against Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and James Robinson and company ran well last week in the win over Jacksonville, but the run defense has held up well up front so far.

Run well, hold up against Henry, and keep throwing against a Titan D that’s allowed a whopping 23 touchdown passes.

Why Tennessee Titans Will Win

The Tennessee offensive balance is fantastic – it helps when you have No. 22 running all over everyone.

Henry was the story against Indianapolis last week, but the offense came up with 220 passing yards to go along with the 229 though the air. Henry has been unstoppable, Ryan Tannehill has been terrific, and there aren’t any giveaways with just one turnover in the last four games and just five on the year.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee
Duh, everyone is going to start him, but is he due for a clunker? He ran for over 100 yards in the last three games and in four of the last five, he powered for three touchdowns against Tennessee, and he has managed multiple touchdown runs four times. Cleveland’s run defense, though, is the ninth-best in the NFL.

What’s Going To Happen

Tennessee is rolling with confidence coming off one of the nastiest performances of the year against the Colts and their great defense, and they’ll keep it all going against the Browns.

Cleveland is playing well, but it helped to go against Houston, Philadelphia and Jacksonville in the last three games. The Brown running game will be good, and Henry will be slowed down, but the Titans will grind out a tough win.

How much did this team need a coaching change?

There’s a shot this is a case of a team losing its head coach, and then taking off – look at how good Atlanta has been. It’s not like Darrell Bevell is going to be around for the long haul, but things can’t be any worse for a team that couldn’t score against Carolina and got rolled by Houston in front of the Thanksgiving-watching world.

Chicago’s offense continues to have the worst ground game in the NFL, the defense made too many business decisions against Green Bay, and Mitchell Trubisky is the starting quarterback.

And Matt Patricia is no longer the Detroit head coach.

The defense is going to play better.

It didn’t show up against the Packers, but the offense managed to keep fighting late with a good running day from David Montgomery and some yards from Trubisky to at least make the passing game go a bit.

Detroit has an iffy quarterback situation with Matthew Stafford banged up, but the bigger problem is a secondary that’s been lit up for over 300 yards in two of the last three games.

You’re only thinking about playing him in multiple-quarterback leagues, but he threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the first game against Detroit, and he threw for 242 and three scores last week against Green Bay. He might not be good, and he might get most of his yards when the game is out of reach, but there’s no running game – he’s it for the offense.

What’s Going To Happen

Detroit had Chicago beaten in the season-opener, but D’Andre Swift dropped the game-winning touchdown pass in the final seconds. The Lions will play far better this week than they did over the last few games – and in losses in four of the last five games – but Chicago is about to show up.

After the embarrassment in Green Bay, the Bear defense will come up with a huge performance to make up for a mediocre Trubisky start.

The Saints were able to dominate the matchup a few weeks ago, allowing just three field goals in a 24-9 victory at home. Taysom Hill is doing just fine doing what he does at quarterback – he’s not going to be Aaron Rodgers, and that’s okay – and the defense continues to be dominant.

The Saints lead the NFL in both rushing scores and fewest rushing touchdowns allowed. It hasn’t given up more than 100 yards on the ground in the last six games and forced 13 takeaways in the last five.

Why Atlanta Falcons Will Win

The offense picked it back up fast after that clunker against the Saints.

As bad as the offense was two weeks ago, that’s how good it was in a dominant 43-6 win over the Raiders – and it was without Todd Gurley and Julio Jones.

The running game still isn’t likely to work, and there won’t be five takeaways, but the defense has seen Hill once – this might be like a baseball team seeing a pitcher the second time through the order – and Matt Ryan and the passing game need to be merely very good. The Saint defensive stats are skewed after playing Denver in last week’s disaster.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

QB Taysom Hill, New Orleans
So far, so good. He might not throw for enough yards to help you out, and he hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass so far, but in his two starts he has over 40 rising yards in each, and he ran for two touchdowns in both games. He’s the option now on the goal line – good for him, a killer for Alvin Kamara.

What’s Going To Happen

Atlanta will be better at home this time around. The New Orleans defense will still be an issue, and there still won’t be any running game, but the Falcons will make Hill throw – that will be a problem.

New Orleans will grind its way to a win, but it’ll be a tough fight.

Alex Smith only has one touchdown pass in the last few games, but he’s provided a spark for the passing game with a slew of good midrange throws for an O with 740 yards over the last two games. Cincinnati has given up the third-most touchdown passes in the NFL.

Higgins has been targeted nine times in each of the past two games, including managing 115 yards and a TD against the Steelers last week. The Football Team’s pass D has been solid, but it allowed three passing scores last week to Detroit and only sacked Matthew Stafford once. Burrow has performed well when not pressured, and if he isn’t pressured in this one look for Higgins to be the beneficiary downfield.

What’s Going To Happen

Washington is playing good enough defense to hang around, but the Bengals will have more pop to the offense with a bit more balance.

Burrow will be good, but Giovani Bernard and the running game will take over as the Bengals control the game in the second half. Smith will once again put up a ton of yards, but without a lot to show for it.

The Panthers will play around with their quarterbacks and get just enough out of the ground game to stay in this, but Matthew Stafford will be good, Peterson will be great, and the Lions will push through with a business-like win.

The Jaguars have ramped up the offense with Jake Luton playing well, but the defensive front can still be hammered on and the O isn’t getting it done in key moments.

There’s no arguing with what’s working in a 9-0 season, but the ground attack hasn’t hit 100 yards in the last four games and hasn’t hit 50 in any of the last three. This is the game to start pounding away again and take control early on.

Why Jacksonville Jaguars Will Win

The Jaguar passing game has the potential to make it interesting.

Jake Luton might have had a rough time against Green Bay – the Packers kept bringing the pressure – but he has still been just good enough to keep the Steelers from cheating up against the run.

Pittsburgh doesn’t give up a ton of yards, but it’ll give away touchdown passes and has been hit for 185 yards or more in every game. At the very least, Luton will keep pressing.

We keep waiting for that breakout Conner game.  It should come this week against a Jacksonville D that gives up rushing yards in chunks and with a Steeper ground game that’s way overdue to start producing at a higher level. Throw in Conner’s work as a receiver, and should be the main man.

What’s Going To Happen

Jacksonville will give it a good run with just enough offensive balance to avoid getting obliterated early, but Pittsburgh will take over in the second half with the pass rush dominating and the offense coming up with a good run to put it well out of reach. And then the takeaways will come to make it a rout.
