Bengals are huge favorites over Patriots in the minds of NFL experts

Here’s how experts view the Week 1 matchup between the Patriots and Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals enter Week 1 as huge favorites, and most analysts don’t see a major reason to put the team on upset watch, either.

Usually, Week 1 throws out some wildly unexpected results, such as the Buffalo Bills getting dropped by the New York Jets in the opener last year.

But Cincinnati faces the rebuilding, Jerod Mayo-led New England Patriots on Sunday and would seem to have a huge upper hand after zero concerns about Joe Burrow’s health.

Case in point, the entire expert panel at USA Today picking the Bengals to win, with only one predicted final score within seven points.

It’s the same thing at NFL.com, with Tom Blair writing the following:

Why Tom picked the Bengals: Were Cincinnati facing almost any other opponent, I’d be thinking more about the impact of Ja’Marr Chase’s ongoing contract drama and stressing slightly about how Joe Burrow’s surgically repaired wrist will respond to serious game action. Week 1 shockers happen, of course, but even so, the Patriots present a fairly friendly-seeming assignment, with the Bengals’ overall talent advantage providing some insurance against a slow start. I don’t want to dismiss Jerod Mayo’s crew out of hand; it just feels like everything would have to go right for New England to have a real chance in this one. That’s a lot to ask for from a rebuilding team in its first game under a rookie head coach.

As of this writing, Ja’Marr Chase has been back practicing with the team for a key reason, yet he doesn’t have a new deal.

Even so, the Patriots do project to struggle enough in 2024 that the Bengals should have an advantage at home, with key names on the New England side already talking about playing the spoiler this year.

This is a key moment for the Bengals and the hope has to be that experts are correct, though, given the slow starts that have plagued the Burrow era to this point.

NFL preseason Week 2 betting picks

Check out the betting picks you should make for the NFL preseason games left on the schedule this weekend.

The NFL preseason continues Saturday with 13 games on the schedule and two on Sunday. Games mean the ability to bet and win money.

Now, if you are betting on preseason games, people will questions you, but there is money still to be made.

Should you bet preseason games the same as the regular season? Absolutely not, as the games are decided in the second half of games with guys battling just to make an NFL roster. That is not reliable.

There is only one way to really bet in the preseason — pick a few games and simply bet the underdogs with plus odds on the moneyline and hope you hit at least half the picks. If you hit on half, you still win a little money. If you hit on more, even better.

So below are the preseason games left on the slate and the underdog moneyline picks to make.

The odds come from BetMGM Sportsbook.

NFL playoffs divisional best bets: Winner, spread, total picks for Sunday

Betting picks for the two Sunday playoff games.

In Saturday’s two divisional games, the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49er both won their home games to move on the the conference championships.

The Ravens beat the Houston Texans 34-10, covering the 9.5-point spread. The Niners rallied to beat the Green Bay Packers 24-21 but did not cover the 10-point spread.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs face the Buffalo Bills in the two divisional games left on Sunday.

Below are my betting picks for those games.

NFL Wild Card best bets: Winner, spread and total picks for Sunday playoff matchups

Here are Jess Root’s betting picks for both of Sunday’s playoff matchups.

The weekend of the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs kicked off Saturday with two games. The home team won both.

Sunday brings us two more, although it was originally supposed to be three games. The first one between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills was rescheduled to Monday because of the extreme winter weather in the area.

Two playoff games means two games to win a little bit of money picking certain outcomes of the game.

Below are my picks for both games for the moneyline, the spread and the total.

NFL Wild Card best bets: Winner, spread, total picks for Saturday playoff games

Betting picks for Browns-Texans and Dolphins-Chiefs.

The wild card round of the NFL playoffs begins with two games on Saturday.

The Saturday matinee game has Joe Flacco and Cleveland Browns on the road against the Houston Texans. That game will air on NBC.

The night game wa has the Miami Dolphins facing the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in what is expected to be terrible winter weather. That game can only be watched on Peacock.

With the playoffs starting, there aren’t many betting opportunities left. These are my betting picks for the winner, spread and total for Saturday’s games.

NFL wild-card picks: Experts slightly favoring Lions over Rams on Sunday

Of the experts who have picked Sunday’s game, 43% are taking the Rams to beat the Lions

The Los Angeles Rams exceeded expectations by even getting to the playoffs, but they have their work cut out for them in the first round against a 12-5 Detroit Lions team that’s playing its first home playoff game in 30 years. It’s expected to be a close battle, but the Lions are predictably favored as the home team, giving three points on the spread.

Oddsmakers are giving the Lions the edge, as are NFL experts. According to Tallysight, 57% of experts are taking the Lions to win outright on Sunday night, leaving only 43% picking the Rams. With Los Angeles getting three points from the Lions, more experts are leaning the Rams’ way when picking against the spread: 62% are taking the Rams to cover.

The over/under is set at 51.5 points, the highest of Wild Card Weekend, but 61% are still taking the over in what’s expected to be a high-scoring affair.

The Lions were 12-5 against the spread this season, best in the NFL, and the Rams ranked sixth with a record of 10-6-1 against the spread. The over was 9-8 in the Rams’ 17 regular-season contests and 11-6 for the Lions.

Expert picks for Seahawks-Cardinals matchup in Week 18

Who do the experts expect will win between the Cardinals and the Seahawks?

The Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks face one another for the second time this season in Week 18. This time, it is in Arizona. The Seahawks beat Arizona 20-10 in Seattle in Week 7 despite turning the ball over three times.

This time, the Cardinals are coming off their best win of the season and are 3-4 in seven games with Kyler Murray back in the lineup at quarterback. The Seahawks have lost five of their last seven games and need a win and some help to make the playoffs.

How will this game play out?

We have some expert picks and predictions below.
