Former Georgia star LB Roquan Smith missing from Chicago Bear’s training camp amid contract talks

Roquan Smith missing from the Bear’s training camp…

Former Georgia linebacker and NFL All-Pro, Roquan Smith, is missing from the Chicago Bears training camp as contract discussions continue.

The Bears announced on Tuesday that the former Butkus Award winner (2017) has been added to the team’s physically unable to preform list (PUP, which will allow Smith to attend meetings and avoid fines while both sides work on a new deal.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Smith has yet to receive an offer that he will ‘remotely consider’.

Smith has been one of the league’s best tacklers since he went pro in 2018 as the No. 8 overall pick.

Watch: Former Georgia star RB Nick Chubb lifts big weight at alma mater high school

Nick Chubb at it again throwing around your deadlift max…

Georgia football’s second all-time leading rusher is well known for his incredible ability to throw around weight like a rag doll.

Cleveland Browns star Nick Chubb pulled up to Cedartown High School (Cedartown, Ga.) this week to give his alma mater some inspiration in the weight room.

Check out Chubb clean 405 pounds for reps in a video posted to his Instagram.

Chubb has had one of the best starts to a running back career in NFL history through four seasons in Cleveland.

The former No. 35 overall pick is ranked as the No. 3 tailback in the NFL per a recent ESPN survey after becoming the first running back in NFL history to average at least 5.0 yards per carry on 100+ carries in each of his first four seasons.

Chubb is no stranger to showing some amazing power in the weight room. Here is 675 pounds for reps earlier this summer.

The NFL is on watch. Chubb may have his best year yet in 2022.

3 Georgia Bulldogs predicted to make NFL All-Rookie team

NFL.com predicts 3 Georgia Bulldogs to the NFL All-Rookie team…

Three Georgia Bulldogs have been predicted to the NFL’s All-Rookie team for the 2023 season by NFL.com: Pittsburgh Steelers receiver George Pickens, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook and Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker.

One of Georgia’s most prolific receivers over the last three years, George Pickens was drafted No. 52 overall by the Steelers this spring. Pickens caught 90 passes for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career for the Bulldogs.

“In his final draft before retiring as the Steelers’ general manager, Kevin Colbert once again landed a bargain receiver in the second round. Pickens is already impressing, showing off his skills during OTAs. Expect whoever lines up at quarterback for Pittsburgh to regularly lean on his speed and strong hands to make big plays downfield.”

The Bills got one of the most versatile running backs UGA has seen when it took James Cook with the No. 63 overall pick. Whether it’s from the backfield or line up outside, Cook can find a way to impact the game. The  brother of Minnesota Vikings running back, Cook had his best season during the championship run. Cook gained over 2,200 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns in four years in Athens.

“Buffalo selected a running back in the third round of the draft in 2019 and 2020 (Devin Singletary, ‘19; Zack Moss, ‘20), but I thought they would have interest in Cook late in the second round this year because of his all-purpose value. Expect Cook to approach 1,500 total yards from scrimmage in 2022, taking handoffs when he isn’t catching the ball out of the backfield or from the slot. “

Auburn Tigers quarterback Bo Nix (10) is sacked by Georgia Bulldogs inside linebacker Quay Walker (7) at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021.

The Packers chose Quay Walker with their first pick of the draft at No. 22 overall in an unexpected move. While Walker may not have been the first linebacker tabbed to be taken, his talent and athletic ability is unquestioned. Walker was one of the top performers at the NFL combine. Walker recorded 137 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and 3 pass breakups over four seasons in Athens.

Former Georgia Bulldog, New York Giants OT Andrew Thomas looks healthy following ankle surgery

Looks like Andrew Thomas is moving well following ankle surgery…

Former Georgia star offensive tackle Andrew Thomas underwent ankle surgery this year following the New York Giants’ 2021 season.

The surgery was the second attempt to help repair an issue that nagged Thomas for his first two seasons.

The No. 4 overall pick in 2020, Thomas was named to Pro Football Focus’ list of the Top 101 Players of 2021 after a big year-two in New York.

Here’s a look at Thomas in a workout with 2022 Georgia NFL draftee Justin Shaffer.

Rest easy Giants fans, it looks like Thomas’ ankle is holding up nicely.

Watch: Philadelphia Eagles rookies Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean give special breakdown

Eagles rookies Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean are all smiles…

Georgia football draft picks, now Philadelphia Eagles rookies, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean, are all smiles during a tour of NFL Films.

You can watch their breakdown here.

Davis, the No. 13 overall pick in this year’s draft, is coming off one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen from an interior Georgia defensive lineman.

The Charlotte, N.C., native’s trophy list speaks for itself: 2021 Outland Trophy, 2021 Chuck Bednarik Award Winner, 2021 All-America First Team, All-SEC First Team.

Teammate Dean, a Horn Lake, Miss., native was arguably just as good as the mind and motor of UGA’s record-breaking defense. Although he dropped to the No. 83 overall pick thanks to false health rumors. Dean’s trophy case is something to note as well: 2021 Butkus Award Winner All-America First Team, Captain, 2021 AFCA Good Works Team, All-SEC First Team.

Both Davis and Dean will have an opportunity to play key roles on the Eagles defense.

Minnesota Vikings first-round pick Lewis Cine shares his mindset: ‘I just want to stack bodies’

There wasn’t a bigger hitter on Georgia’s ’21 defense than Lewis Cine…

Every once in awhile a defensive player comes along that is known as a ‘headhunter’. A player who takes pride in the physicality aspect of the game.

There is no question who that player has been for the last few season in Athens. Safety Lewis Cine, a Minnesota Viking first-round pick this spring, was that player for Georgia.

At just 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Cine always seemed to hit like a guy twice his size.

The All-SEC First Team selection is keeping this same mindset in Minnesota.

‘My head is I just want to stack bodies.’

A semifinalist for the 2021 Jim Thorpe Award, Cine finished the 2021 season as the Bulldogs’ leading tackler with 73 total stops and also had a team-high nine pass breakups and was named Defensive MVP of the CFP Championship Game.

Georgia DL Travon Walker now favorite to be No. 1 overall pick

Oddsmakers have Georgia EDGE Travon Walker going 1st overall on Thursday night…

On Thursday, the 2022 NFL draft will begin. As many as 14 Georgia Bulldogs could hear their name called over the weekend, but one Dawg is tabbed by oddsmakers to be the No. 1 overall pick.

Travon Walker has overtaken Heisman runner-up Aidan Hutchinson for the best odds (-160) at being taken No. 1, per Tipico Sportsbook.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CcycNULFggo/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Walker’s draft stock has taken off maybe more than any other prospect this offseason. While the junior did play more than any other UGA defensive lineman in 2021 (56% of snaps), Walker’s production is nowhere near that of guys like Hutchinson and Oregon EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux.

What makes the Thomaston, Ga., native so intriguing to NFL teams is his freaky athleticism. Walker had one of the best combine performances we’ve ever seen at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds.

NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay explained why Walker is at least a Top-2 pick.

“The (Travon Walker’s) Combine was ridiculous… If you’re drafting him No. 1 if you’re Jacksonville or if you’re No. 2 if you’re Detroit, you’re betting on the traits. And you’re betting on what you see on tape and what can be if you utilize him a little differently.

This guy just has elite traits that you just can’t find in any other player in this Draft.”

Matthew Stafford is the last Georgia Bulldog to be selected No. 1 overall in 2008.

Draft coverage will begin this Thursday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.

Cleveland Browns sign former Georgia WR

Wims was UGA’s leading receiver for the 2017 national title run…

On Thursday, the NFL’s Cleveland Browns announced the signing of former Georgia receiver Javon Wims.

Wims spent three seasons with the Chicago Bears, who drafted the Jacksonville, Fla., native in the seventh-round of the 2018 draft.

Wims played in 33 games for the Bears (seven starts) and caught 28 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns before being waved before the 2020 season.

The former Bulldog spent last season on the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad.

In Athens (2016-2017), Wims was the leading receiver for the UGA team that made a national title run in 2017, catching 45 passes for 720 yards and sevens scores.

Georgia football will send 14 Dawgs to the NFL combine, most in CFB

It’s a Bulldog takeover at this year’s NFL combine

The 2022 NFL Combine will kickoff on Tuesday and run through March 7.

Georgia football, your National Champions, will send the most players in college football to the event with 14.

The Bulldogs keep pulling national attention.

Alabama and Oklahoma each have 11 invitees, while LSU and Texas A&M are next with nine.

It seems like when UGA isn’t recruiting, they are still recruiting. I guess a national title helps with that.

Here’s every Dawg that will be working out in Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium this week:

  • Defensive lineman Jordan Davis
  • Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt
  • Linebacker Nakobe Dean
  • Linebacker Quay Walker
  • Safety Lewis Cine
  • Cornerback Derion Kendrick
  • Wide receiver George Pickens
  • Linebacker Channing Tindall
  • Punter Jake Camarda
  • Running back James Cook
  • Offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer
  • Offensive lineman Justin Shaffer
  • Running back Zamir White

You can catch the workouts every day through March 7 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on the NFL Network. Saturday’s workouts will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET.

Georgia football among top schools at producing NFL draft picks

Here’s the programs who produce the most NFL talent:

Georgia football is one of the top college programs in the entire country. Yes, the Bulldogs are national champions, but their reach extends beyond the collegiate level.

Since 2000, Georgia has produced the 5th most NFL draft picks.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cads3RsLhBz/?utm_medium=copy_link

The Bulldogs could move up the list this spring as the Dawgs have 14 players invited to this year’s combine, opening the door to possibly break the school record of nine drafted Bulldogs, which was set last year.

Mock drafts by NFL analyst may vary, but most have Georgia’s Travon Walker, Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt as first round prospects.

Derion Kendrick, Jamaree Salyer, Justin Shaffer, Channing Tindall, James Cook and Zamir White are all in line to hear their name called early.

The combine will be held March 1-7 and the draft will kickoff April 28 and run through the 30th.
