15 reasons why Eagles GM will look to trade a 2023 first-round pick for more draft assets in 2024

Philadelphia is always looking to acquire impact players and we’re looking at fifteen 2024 NFL Draft prospects that could entice Eagles GM Howie Roseman to trade a 2023 first-round pick

During the 2021 NFL offseason, Howie Roseman was able to trade Carson Wentz and land a pre-draft deal with the Dolphins, resulting in three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

That helped spawn a potential Super Bowl run this season.

The Eagles are technically still in the midst of a rebuild and although they made the postseason two years in a row, roster uncertainty thanks to 2023 free agency could allow pushing the retool into 2024 as well.

Even with the postseason in full swing, it is never too early for a look ahead to the 2023 and 2024 NFL Drafts scenarios.

Thanks to some draft night wizardry from Howie Roseman, the Eagles traded the No. 16 overall pick, No. 19 overall pick, and a 2022 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for the No. 18 overall pick, a 2022 third-round pick, a 2022 seventh-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2024 second-round pick.

Philadelphia has their franchise quarterback, but if Roseman still has dreams of redoing the Justin Jefferson fiasco the 2024 draft could offer several big named quarterbacks, an All-American pass catcher and several defenders to help offset potential losses.

If Philadelphia dreams of an all-world pass-rusher or stud wide receiver, an extra first-round pick would be gold a year from now when the team will have multiple second-round picks as well.

Here are some of the top 2024 signal-callers, a star running back, and one all-world wide receiver that could have Roseman waiting patiently for that greener pasture.

2022 NFL Draft: Eagles trade a fifth-round pick to Jaguars for two six rounders

2022 NFL Draft: Eagles trade pick No. 154 overall in the fifth round to Jaguars for picks No. 188 overall and No. 198 overall in the sixth round

After making two blockbuster trades, the Eagles entered Day two with only four picks and utilized two on Cam Jurgens and Nakobe Dean.

Howie Roseman didn’t want to leave the draft weekend with just five players and A.J. Brown, so Philadelphia’s GM just swapped picks with Doug Pederson and the Jaguars, sending their fifth-round pick to Jacksonville for two sixth-rounds.

The Eagles ultimately moved from No. 15 overall up to No. 13 overall to select Georgia All-American defensive tackle, Jordan Davis.

In doing so, Philadelphia parted ways with the Nos. 15, 124, 162, and 166 picks to the Texans to move up two spots where it selected Davis.

Moments later after the Chargers used the No. 17 overall pick on Zion Johnson, the Eagles shook up the draft, trading picks No. 18 overall, and a third-round pick (101) to the Tennessee Titans for star wide receiver, A.J. Brown.

Philadelphia could look to add players in the secondary and a potential punter.

POLL: What do you think of the Cardinals’ trade for Hollywood Brown?

What are your thoughts on the Cardinals’ trade to acquire Hollywood Brown?

The Arizona Cardinals pulled off a stunner Thursday night when they acquired star receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from the Baltimore Ravens. Brown and quarterback Kyler Murray played together during Murray’s time at Oklahoma.

Brown is the speed compliment on the outside the Cardinals have been searching for. He is the long-term answer at WR2 to pair with Hopkins. It is also a sign of very good faith towards Murray, who has gone through his fair share of drama from the Cardinals’ front office.

Some across the NFL social media world think the Cardinals gave up too much to acquire Brown. They sent pick No. 23 but did receive an additional third-rounder from Baltimore. Fellow star receiver A.J. Brown was traded to the Eagles minutes later for the 18th overall pick and some thought the Cardinals should have gone that route.

With that in mind, what do you think of this blockbuster trade for the Cards? Vote in the poll and sound off in the comment section below the article.

Eagles included in a list of six 1st-round trades that would make sense in the NFL draft

Philadelphia Eagles included in a list of six 1st-round trades that would make sense in the NFL draft

Philadelphia has three first-round picks in this month’s NFL draft and a general manager that has a penchant for pulling off huge moves and big deals.

With Howie Roseman’s perceived struggles at evaluating talent, the most realistic move could see the Eagles making a trade up to acquire a player they covet and that can’t miss. NFL.com recently took a look at six trades that make sense in the first round of the draft.

According to NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter, the Eagles, and Jets swapping picks make a ton of sense for both teams involved.

Eagles receive:

No. 10 overall (Round 1)

Jets receive:

No. 15 overall (Round 1)
No. 83 overall (Round 3)
No. 154 overall (Round 5, from WAS)

Philadelphia could be willing to part with two mid-round picks in order to trade up and target the cornerback(Gardner, Derek Stingley), pass rusher(Thibodeaux, Jermaine Johnson), or wide receiver (Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams) that they covet at the top first round.

Such a move would save the Eagles the embarrassment of missing on the pick, while the two other first-round picks could allow the team to accrue even more assets.
