No Longhorns were selected in the 2022 NFL draft

Texas gets shut out from the NFL Draft for the first time since 2014.

No Texas Longhorns were selected in the 2022 NFL draft for the first time since 2014.

Kicker Cameron Dicker and defensive back Josh Thompson received NFL combine invites and hoped to hear their names called but had no luck. The two should have some options at their disposal as undrafted free agents.

Looking ahead to next season, Texas is expected to fare better in the 2023 NFL draft. Bijan Robinson leads a talented group of Longhorns who will be pro-eligible next April.

Steve Sarkisian is tasked to produce more NFL talent in a hurry. Texas’ last first-round pick was Malcolm Brown way back in 2015. The 2005 draft was the last season where Texas had a first-rounder taken from the offensive side of the ball.

Putting more players in the league shows the strength of a program and serves as a valuable recruiting tool.

Updated look at Eagles 2022 NFL draft picks after blockbuster trade with Saints

Updated look at future NFL draft picks after the Eagles trade with Saints added a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2024 second-rounder

Say what you want about Howie Roseman, but the man does his due diligence and isn’t afraid to pull off a huge move.

In back-to-back years, the Eagles’ general manager has been able to secure a future first-round pick while parting with minimal draft capital or assets.

On Monday Philadelphia gave New Orleans two 2022 first-round picks (Nos. 16 and 19 overall) and a 2022 sixth-round pick (No. 194), in exchange for a 2022 first-round pick (No. 18 overall), New Orleans’ 2023 first-round pick, New Orleans’ 2024 second-round pick, a 2022 third-round pick (No. 101 overall) and a 2022 seventh-round pick (No. 237 overall).

The move gives the Eagles draft capital for 2023 while maintaining three of the first 51 overall picks in this month’s draft and five of the top 101.

Here’s a look at Philadelphia’s draft capital for 2022 and beyond.

2023 NFL Draft: 15 prospects to watch next season after Eagles traded 2022 first-round picks for more assets

15 dynamic reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles traded two 2022 first-round picks to the Saints for more draft assets in 2023

Last offseason, Howie Roseman was able to trade Carson Wentz and land a pre-draft deal with the Dolphins, resulting in three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, and after listening to his combine and owners meeting press conferences, the writing was on the wall for more big trades.

The Eagles are technically still in the midst of a rebuild and although they made the postseason, the 2021 campaign was still supposed to be about seeing what they had at quarterback and other key positions.

Those press conferences, coupled with a lack of star power in this month’s draft are why the evaluation will continue,  giving Hurts another year as the starter, but the pressure will continue to build after Roseman just moved one of his coveted 2022 assets in hopes of greener pastures in 2023?

After swapping picks with the Saints, Roseman could still have dreams of a more conventional superstar passer or a once-in-a-lifetime pass rusher, and the 2023 draft could offer at minimum, seven quarterbacks for Philadelphia and other teams to start targeting.

If Philadelphia dreams of an all-world pass-rusher or stud wide receiver, an extra first-round pick would be gold.

Here are some of the top 2023 signal-callers, a star running back, and one all-world edge rusher that could have Roseman waiting patiently for that greener pasture.

4 takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles trading two 2022 first-round picks to the Saints for more draft assets in 2023

In a move that was expected by most draft experts and insiders, the Eagles have moved a 2022 first-round pick back to 2023 by securing a huge trade that’ll send the No. 16, No. 19, and No. 194 to the Saints for the No. 18, No. 101, No. 237, a 2023 first-round pick, and 2024 second-round pick in return.

The move gives New Orleans an extra first-round pick while giving Philadelphia an extra draft asset over the next two years.

With the move now finalized and Philadelphia slotted at No. 15 and No. 18, here are four takeaways from the trade.

Eagles trade two first round picks to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 18, and 2023 first-round pick

NFL Draft 2022: Eagles trade picks No. 16, No. 19 and No. 194 in the sixth round to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 18, No. 101 in the third round, No. 237 in the 7th round AND a 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick

In a shocking move, Philadelphia is trading two of their 2022 first-round picks in the NFL draft to the New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles will package picks No. 16 overall, No. 19 overall, and No. 194 overall in the sixth round to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 18 overall, No. 101 overall in the third round, No. 237 overall in the 7th round, AND a coveted 2023 first-round pick, along with a 2024 second-round pick.

The Saints now own picks No. 16 and No. 19, while Philadelphia will still pick at No. 15 overall, along with No. 18 overall in the first round.

The move appears to be Howie Roseman covering all of his bases for 2023 and ensuring that Philadelphia has the opportunity to land a big-named quarterback next spring if Jalen Hurts doesn’t take the next steps as a passer.
