First look: Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills odds and lines, division champs square off

Looking at Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills get their regular-season campaigns underway Sunday. Kickoff from Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y., is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Steelers vs. Bills odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

Pittsburgh captured the AFC North title in 2020 before bowing out of the playoffs in the AFC Wild Card Round to the division rival Cleveland Browns. The AFC North is expected to be tightly contested again in 2021 and Pittsburgh will be looking for an improved run game.

The Steelers were the only team to average fewer than 90 rushing yards per game last year and selected RB Najee Harris in the first round of the NFL draft to rectify the situation. Pittsburgh finished the preseason 3-1 straight up, 2-2 against the spread and 3-1 against the Over/Under.

The Bills also captured a division title when they won the AFC East for the first time since 1995. Buffalo has seen consistent improvement from fourth-year signal-caller Josh Allen and is looking to build off last year’s AFC Championship Game appearance. The Bills concluded the preseason with a perfect 3-0 SU/ATS record and 1-2 O/U mark.

The clubs last met in Pittsburgh in 2019 and the Bills emerged with a 17-10 victory while covering the spread as 1-point underdogs. The total sailed well Under the 37-point projected number that day too, although QB Ben Roethlisberger didn’t play.

First look: Denver Broncos at New York Giants odds and lines: Broncos short road favorites

Looking at Sunday’s Denver Broncos at New York Giants Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

Two teams eyeing 2021 turnarounds open their seasons late Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium as the Denver Broncos visit the New York Giants for a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we look at the Broncos vs. Giants odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos were one of seven teams (all in the AFC) which finished the preseason 3-0 and are hoping that helps serve as a springboard to end the franchise’s longest stretch (four seasons) of sub-.500 finishes since the early 1970s.

While Teddy Bridgewater winning the starting quarterback job garnered most of the preseason headlines, the Denver defense has the horses to be one of the NFL’s best with the return of DE Von Miller from injury and a revamped, talent-laden secondary.

The Giants, meanwhile, were one of the eight winless preseason teams (all in the NFC), but even more concerning is the rash of health issues the team dealt with in training camp.

Recovering RB Saquon Barkley (knee), prize free-agent acquisition WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring), first-round draft pick WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and TE Evan Engram (calf) are all question marks entering the opener as the G-Men look to climb above .500 for only the second time in the last nine seasons.

The defense still boasts OLB Khalil Mack, DT Akiem Hicks and LB Roquan Smith, but it’s the offense that faces several questions.

Bears at Rams head-to-head

The Rams and Bears have squared off three times since 2018 and not one of those matchups was particularly close. In 2018, the Bears stunned the Rams 15-6 in Chicago, which was one of the worst games of head coach Sean McVay’s tenure in Los Angeles.

The following two years, the Rams avenged that loss with two double-digit victories over Chicago. They won 17-7 in 2019 and 24-10 last season, both of which were at home for Los Angeles. The winner covered the spread each time and the Under connected in all three games.

All-time, the Bears are 54-38-3 against the Rams, including a recent stretch of 6-3 in the last nine meetings.

First look: New York Jets at Carolina Panthers odds and lines, Panthers, Darnold favored

Looking at Sunday’s New York Jets at Carolina Panthers Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The New York Jets visit the Carolina Panthers in their regular-season opener Sunday. Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jets at Panthers odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The visitors call on an old friend as they meet former Jets QB Sam Darnold in Week 1. New York traded the former USC quarterback to Carolina in the offseason for three draft picks. The Jets finished the preseason 3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS and recorded a 2-1 O/U mark.

The Panthers look to get off on the right foot with Darnold as they hope their new quarterback and another former Jet, WR Robby Anderson, can rekindle their tremendous relationship as the regular season begins. Carolina wrapped up its preseason 1-2 SU, 1-1-1 ATS and with a 2-1 O/U record.

First look: Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons odds and lines, hosts favored in Week 1

Looking at Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Atlanta Falcons in their regular-season opener Sunday. Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Eagles vs. Falcons odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Eagles really struggled during the preseason, although they looked a little better in a 31-31 tie against the New York Jets in the final game to quell some of the fears of their fanbase. Philadelphia appears to be especially deep at the running back position.

The Falcons begin the post-Julio Jones era in Week 1. They might have traded the prolific wideout to the Tennessee Titans in the offseason, but the cupboard is anything but bare. They drafted TE Kyle Pitts in the first round, and he joins WR Calvin Ridley to give QB Matt Ryan a couple of top-notch targets.
