Two Longhorns Listed On NFL’s All-Time Team

Earl Campbell and Tom Landry made the cut for the NFL’s All-Time Team as the league celebrates 100 years of football.

The NFL has been announcing their All-Time team as they celebrate 100 years of football. With so many greats to have played the game or contributed to the game it would be a tough task for anyone. The Texas Longhorns made the list with two representatives. You can see the full list on the NFL website using the link below.

NFL All-Time Team

Bears return specialist legend Devin Hester named to NFL All-Time Team

Devin Hester was the latest Bear named to the NFL’s All-Time Team as a kick returner, which makes sense for the game’s best returner.

When discussing the greatest return specialists in NFL history, the conversation begins and ends with Devin Hester.

He really was, as Bears announcer Jeff Joniak dubbed him, “Ridiculous.”

So as the NFL continued its rollout of their NFL 100 All-Time Team with special teams, it wasn’t a question of whether or not Hester was going to make the list. It was a forgone conclusion.

In his eight seasons with the Bears from 2006-13, Hester became the NFL’s all-time leading returner with 19 kick return touchdowns (14 punt return TDs and 5 kick return TDs). Hester was voted to four Pro Bowls, a three-time All-Pro and named to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000s.

Hester was drafted by the Bears in 2006 and made an immediate impact as a rookie in the league, where he set the NFL single-season record with five kick return touchdowns. The following season, he beat his own record with six kick return touchdowns.

Dick Butkus, Doug Atkins, Bill Hewitt latest Bears named to NFL’s All-Time Team

Linebacker Dick Butkus and defensive end Doug Atkins were the latest Bears to earn a spot on the NFL’s All-Time Team.

As the NFL continues to countdown the best players in the league’s 100-year history, there are three more Chicago Bears that made the NFL 100’s All-Time Team.

Linebacker Dick Butkus and defensive ends Doug Atkins and Bill Hewitt were the latest Bears to earn a spot on the list, both of which were revealed on Friday night.

The complete list of linebackers included: Chuck Bednarik, Bobby Bell, Derrick Brooks, Butkus, Jack Ham, Ted Hendricks, Jack Lambert, Willie Lanier, Ray Lewis, Joe Schmidt, Junior Seau and Lawrence Taylor.

The complete list of defensive ends included: Atkins, Hewitt, Deacon Jones, Gino Marchetti, Lee Roy Selmon, Bruce Smith and Reggie White.

Given the talent at linebacker over the Bears’ storied 100-year history, it’s an absolute shock that Butkus was the only linebacker named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team. You could argue that Bill George, Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher all deserved a spot on the list given their dominance at the position in their respective decades.

Running backs Walter Payton and Gale Sayers were previously named to the All-Time Team.
