The Bears have released their final injury report and game designations ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Packers.

The Chicago Bears (7-9) released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 18 game against the Green Bay Packers (8-8).

Wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who missed last week’s game with a concussion, remains in concussion protocol and has already been ruled out.

Chicago has five players who are questionable against the Packers: tight end Cole Kmet (knee), cornerback Kyler Gordon (calf), running back Khalil Herbert (back), center Lucas Patrick (calf) and long snapper Patrick Scales (foot).

The good news? Wide receiver DJ Moore (ankle) and backup quarterback Tyson Bagent (illness) practiced in full and have no injury designation for Sunday.

Vikings still have playoff life entering Week 18 trip to Detroit

A lot of things need to happen for Minnesota and it seems more likely that none of those things happen, but the Vikings can still dream…

Believe it or not, the Minnesota Vikings still have something to play for in the Week 18 finale in Detroit. While it’s a contrived longshot, the Vikings can still make the postseason if they beat the Lions.

Even after getting blown out by the Packers in Week 17, Detroit’s Week 18 foe isn’t mathematically eliminated from the final NFC wild card spot. Sunday’s game kicks off before any of these other outcomes will be known, too.

Foremost, the Vikings have to beat the Lions. Detroit wins at home and the door is slammed shut. Minnesota also needs all of the following to happen in Week 18:

  • Bears beat the Packers
  • Cardinals beat the Seahawks
  • Buccaneers lose to the Panthers OR the Saints lose to the Falcons

It seems more likely that none of those things happen, but the Vikings can still dream…

If the Lions beat the Vikings and the Bears beat the Packers, Minnesota will finish in last place in the NFC North a year after winning the division.

Announcers set for Bears vs. Packers Week 18 game

The Bears will conclude the 2023 season against the hated Packers. See who will be calling the game on CBS.

The Chicago Bears (7-9) will conclude the 2023 season against the Green Bay Packers (8-8), where Chicago has a chance to keep their hated rivals out of the playoffs with a win.

The Bears’ Week 18 game will air on CBS at 3:25 p.m. CT. The television commentators for the game are Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) and Tracy Wolfson (sideline).

Chicago is coming off an impressive 37-17 win against the Atlanta Falcons (7-9), where they excelled on offense and defense in their home finale. After jumping out to a 21-7 halftime lead, the Bears were able to close out the game thanks to strong outings by Justin Fields, DJ Moore, Khalil Herbert and a dominant defense.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is coming off convincing 33-10 prime-time win over the Minnesota Vikings (7-9), which kept their playoff hopes alive. Jordan Love accounted for four touchdowns in the win, including two to Jayden Reed, in what was his best game in his first year as a starter. Now, he’ll face Chicago for the second time this season with a chance to advance to the playoffs.

The Bears are 4-1 in the past five games, and they’re are plenty of jobs still on the line heading into an important offseason. Can Chicago exact revenge with a win over Green Bay and end this season on a high?

Bears can play spoiler to the Packers in Week 18

The Bears can keep the hated Packers out of the playoffs with a win in Week 18.

The Chicago Bears have been eliminated from the playoffs and they don’t have anything to play for in Week 18. But they do have an opportunity to play spoiler to the hated Green Bay Packers.

The Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17 to keep their playoff hopes alive. Now, they have a win-and-in scenario heading into the final week of the regular season.

Chicago has followed an eerily similar path to the Detroit Lions from last season: Start off 1-5, go on a hot streak and miss the playoffs. The last step? Beat Green Bay and keep them out of the postseason. And we see how well that’s working out for Detroit.

The last time the Bears kept the Packers out of the playoffs came some 40 years ago, according to Mark Potash. Chicago defeated Green Bay, 23-21, under head coach Mike Ditka in 1983.

The Bears have turned a corner in the back half of the season, including going 4-1 in their last five games. But they’ll need to be on their A-game against a Packers team with everything to play for this week.

The Bears and Packers kick things off at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday on CBS.

Good, bad and ugly from Vikings 33-10 loss vs. Packers

The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football 33-10, all but ending their hopes at making a playoff run. Chris Spooner looks at the good, bad and ugly from a disappointing performance.

Just like that, the Minnesota Vikings 2023 season is all but over. Last week’s loss against the Detroit Lions removed all possibility of taking home the NFC North title. This week, with a 33-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, the Vikings have been all but eliminated from the NFC playoff picture entirely.

Minnesota isn’t mathematically eliminated. There is still a scenario in which they can make the playoffs, but it’s far-fetched. Minnesota would have to win next week against the Lions. They would also need the following to happen.

  • Packers to lose against the Chicago Bears
  • Seattle Seahawks to lose against the Arizona Cardinals
  • Either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or New Orleans Saints to lose their game.

It’s not impossible, but the loss makes a playoff berth highly improbable. But Minnesota even being in this spot at all was highly improbable, after losing Kirk Cousins for the season and the quarterback carousel that followed.

That carousel played a major role in the Vikings’ ultimate demise, as starting quarterback Jaren Hall was benched for former starter Nick Mullens. The move provided a little bit of a spark, but not nearly enough, as Minnesota got blown out at home against their division rival. Here’s the good, bad and ugly from a disappointing performance on Sunday Night Football.

NFC North watch: Vikings make another QB change after losing to the Lions

NFC North watch: Vikings make another QB change after losing to the Lions, benching Nick Mullens for rookie Jaren Hall

Looking down from atop the NFC North, there is a big game in Week 17 for second place behind the champion Detroit Lions. The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are facing off to be No. 2 and keep their chances of qualifying for the postseason alive.

Minnesota will host the Packers on Sunday night with a new quarterback under center. After Nick Mullens threw four interceptions to the Lions in Detroit’s Week 16 win in Minnesota, the Vikings are turning to rookie Jaren Hall at quarterback.

Hall was Minnesota’s fifth-round pick out of BYU. He started one other game but was quickly knocked out with a brain injury.

The winner of Sunday’s game will finish level its record at 8-8 and stay alive in the chase for one of the final two wild card spots. That could include a trip to Ford Field in the wild card round to meet the Lions, depending on how the final two weeks play out.
