Duane Brown could make his return on Sunday against Packers

The Seattle Seahawks are hoping left tackle Duane Brown (knee) will return for the team’s divisional round matchup against the Packers

The Seattle Seahawks were short three starters on the offensive line on Sunday against the Eagles, with Duane Brown and Mike Iupati joining Justin Britt on the shelf.

The results weren’t pretty, particularly in the run game where the Seahawks only mustered 19 yards on 17 carries between their two backs, Travis Homer and Marshawn Lynch.

Reinforcements might be on their way however, as coach Pete Carroll reported that Brown has begun getting some work in and could make it back in time for Sunday’s game against the Packers.

“Duane did some work yesterday and is doing work again today,” Carroll said before practice on Wednesday. “He won’t practice today, but it’s an encouraging sign about him making his return. So we’ll see what happens. We won’t know until late.”

Brown missed the final two regular season games with a “pissed off knee“, and while the team is taking caution with their veteran tackle, his presence is much needed on Sunday if he is able to go.

Not only is Brown a strong pass and run blocker, he frees up George Fant to play his regular role as the team’s sixth lineman/tight end, which is a crucial part of the team’s run packages.

Brown’s status will be updated throughout the week, and his health will go a long way toward getting Seattle into the NFC championship game for the first time since the 2014 season.

Seahawks sparkly road record will be tested in Green Bay

The Seattle Seahawks will travel to snowy Green Bay, Wisconsin to take on the Packers in their toughest road game of the season.

The Seattle Seahawks are now a remarkable 8-1 in road games this season, with an ugly 28-12 loss to the Rams in Los Angeles preventing them from a perfect record away from CenturyLink Field.

The list of teams with eight road wins in a season is small, and the list with nine only includes two teams – the 2007 Giants and 2005 Steelers – both who won the Super Bowl.

So it’s no question that Seattle’s trip to Lambeau Field in Green Bay will be a crucial one, and almost certainly represents their biggest road test of the entire season.

“There’s no tougher place to play than going to Green Bay,” coach Pete Carroll said on Monday. “We’re as ready as you can get. I like that. We’re gonna try to make the most of it.”

With respect to the road crowds in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and everywhere else, Green Bay presents an entirely unique challenge – not just because of the rapid fanbase in Wisconsin but the weather conditions, which are particularly tricky this late in the season.

“I don’t think you can connect a fan base with your team any tighter than you can do it there,” Carroll continued. “They do a great job of knowing how to be a factor. And then there’s conditions to that go along with it. Earlier in the year it’s not a big deal, but late in the year the conditions can be a factor that you can’t copy. You just have to adjust when you’re there. Any of those things can become distractions if you let them.”

The Seahawks are expected to take on Green Bay in sub 30 degree temperatures, with the current weather forecast showing snow.

The snow, the fans and of course a 13-3 Packers squad will make things exceedingly difficult for the Seahawks on Sunday, but if we know anything about this team, it’s that they will be ready for it.

Darius Bazley cheered loudly for Seahawks during NFC Wildcard game

The NBA rookie was clearly rooting for Seattle during Sunday’s NFC Wildcard game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Darius Bazley certainly looked like he enjoyed himself at the NFC Wildcard game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday evening.

The Thunder are in town ahead of Monday night’s game against the 76ers and went to Lincoln Financial Field to watch some football.

In videos from his teammate’s Instagram stories, Bazley is whooping it up in what looks like a private box, cheering very loudly for Seattle while the rest of the Thunder laughed in the background.

The Eagles fans in front of Bazley looked less than amused.

The NBA rookie commented on the videos that made their way to Twitter, “had to make my first NFL game a good experience”, complete with crying laughing face emojis.

Bazley is averaging 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game this season. Recently, he’s seen his playing time increase due to injuries and started four games in place of Danilo Gallinari at the end of December.

Philadelphia fans are known to be unforgiving, so Bazley better hope he has a good showing Monday against the 76ers. The last time the two teams played, Bazley scored five points and grabbed one rebound in 17 minutes.

The Seahawks went on the beat the Eagles, 17-9 to advance to the NFC Divisional Round where they will face Green Bay at Lambeau Field next Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks are set to kick off at Lincoln Financial Field, but one participant from the NFC’s Wild Card Weekend has already advanced.

With the Minnesota Vikings 26-20 upset win over the Saints in New Orleans, they’ll now travel to face the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

The Eagles, Seahawks winner will travel to Lambeau Field to face the Packers next Sunday afternoon.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins hit Kyle Rudolph for the game-winning touchdown on the road Sunday afternoon in the NFC Wild Card matchup.
