The NFL’s 2021 trade deadline is just a few days away and due to the Atlanta Falcons’ recent resurgence, it would actually make sense for the team to try and address some needs if the right deal becomes available.

Falcons LB Deion Jones wins NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Falcons linebacker Deion Jones finished Sunday’s game with 15 tackles (11 solo), three TFL and one sack in a 30-28 win over Miami.

There was a lot to like about the Atlanta Falcons’ Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins. Offensively, it was the team’s best game of the season, and while the defense gave up plenty of passing yards, Dean Pees’ unit came through with big plays in key moments to close out the 30-28 victory.

Falcons linebacker Deion Jones looked like his old play-making self again, coming away with 15 tackles (11 solo), three TFL and one sack of Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa.

Jones’ big day earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Jones, 27, has been a consistent presence in the middle of Atlanta’s defense for the past five and a half seasons. At times, the lack of talent around him — mainly in the secondary and along the defensive line — has hurt his effectiveness. On Sunday, the speedy linebacker flew to the ball with confident aggression.

Watch as Jones catches Tagovailoa off guard by blitzing off the edge and taking him down for the sack.

For the season, Jones has 58 tackles (32 solo), two sacks, two QB hits, seven TFL and one pass defended in six games played.
